Development of an instrument to measure smart card technology acceptance
Recently smart card is used all over the world in different applications such as financial, telecommunication, network, and physical access where the security is considered very crucial. User acceptance is very significant in successful implementation of smart card technology. Thus, in order to investigate the user adoption of the technology, the instrument to identify the user acceptance is needed. The aim of this study is to develop an instrument to measure the user acceptance of smart card technology in Iran environment. Factors which can affect on user acceptance are presented and discussed
Awareness and adoption of university smart card: The case of UUM
Smart cards are widely used for several applications. Education environments offer the best opportunities for the adoption of smart cards technology. Therefore, this study is interested to assess the awareness and adoption towards the current and future of smart card applications in university. The study focused on Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) since UUM was the pioneer adopter and implementer of smart card among universities in Malaysia. This study was conducted to identify the awareness and adoption of the current applications of university smart cards. Additionally, this study distinguished respondents’
preferences for future applications of university smart cards in order to optimize the adoption process.Data were gathered through questionnaires that have been distributed to the UUM staffs. All the collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Results have shown that most of the respondents were aware of the smart card applications and identified which application that is the most aware of. The results have shown that respondents were aware and adopt similar applications.Nevertheless, even though the respondents were aware of the smart card applications, they do not fully adopt and use them. This study has also identified what applications that respondents prefer to be enhanced and continued in the future smart card

Factors Influencing the Adoption of Electronic Payment Cards in Urban Micro-Payments
Many factors affect the way that information technology is used in societies and organizations. In this research, the researcher has aimed to analyze the factors affecting the adoption of electronic payment cards in urban micro-payments. This research is based on six hypothesis, analyzing the relationship between the adoption of electronic payments cards and some factors such as satisfaction, compulsion, ease of use, usefulness, norms and network externality. Data analysis has been done by the SPSS software. In this research, researcher has used non-probability random sampling, the means of this research was the questionnaire, after interviewing with the citizens, factors affected the adoption of electronic payment cards in urban micro-payments were explained. The questionnaire included close-ended questions based on Likert scale with 5 sets of 28 questions. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire showed that the questionnaire has acceptable reliability and validity. From 450 questionnaires,421 of them were returned back to the researcher. Data analysis has been done on two levels of descriptive and inferential analysis. The participants were citizens of shiraz who were over eighteen years old and who use this card in their payments. The results of this research revealed that all of these 6 factors on the acceptance of electronic payment cards in urban micro-payments are a significant impact on the citizens payments. Prioritization of these factors is as follows: usefulness, ease of use, satisfaction, compulsion, network externality and norms. Keywords: adoption, electronic payments cards, micropayment

CITIZENS AS CONSUMERS: PROFILING E-GOVERNMENT SERVICES’ USERS IN EGYPT VIA DATA MINING TECHNIQUES
This study uses data mining techniques to examine the effect of various demographic, cognitive and
psychographic factors on Egyptian citizens’ use of e-government services. Multi-layer perceptron neural
network (MLP), probabilistic neural network (PNN), classification and regression trees (CART), and
multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) are compared to a standard statistical method (linear
discriminant analysis (LDA). The variable sets considered are sex, age, educational level, e-government
services perceived usefulness, ease of use, compatibility, subjective norms, trust, civic mindedness, and
attitudes. The study shows how it is possible to identify various dimensions of e-government services
usage behavior by uncovering complex patterns in the dataset, and also shows the classification abilities
of data mining techniques
Understanding internet banking services and customer's adoption in Iraqi public universities
There is no doubt that internet banking services adoption represents a good opportunity for developing nations to attain greater economic development and growth, where the
creation of added value is driven by information, knowledge and the adoption of
information and communications technology. Although a lot of researches provide evidence on the wide adoption of internet banking in developed nations, there are only limited researches in developing nations in the Middle East, specifically in Iraq. There is definitely a need in this country to identify the factors that could encourage and improve the understanding of internet banking services adoption. There is also a paucity of empirical researches on internet banking services adoption from the perspective of customers. Taking these into cognizance, this quantitative research aims to understand internet banking services adoption, by investigating the key factors that encourage customers to adopt internet banking in the Iraqi context, using the
decomposed theory of planned behavior. The research framework consists of eighteen latent variables, fourteen exogenous variables (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, compatibility, trust, social recommendation, prestigious media, self-efficacy, government support, technology support, internet technology literacy, resistance to technology, perceived risk of technology, anxiety about technology and information on technology); and four endogenous variables (internet banking adoption, attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control). In order to test the framework, a quantitative approach using the survey method is employed consisting of eighty two items with a seven-point Likert scale. Based on proportionate stratified random
sampling, 535 out of 800 employees submitted completed questionnaires suitable for analysis (a 66.8% response rate). Findings of this study reveal that all the research hypotheses are supported except three, namely subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and information on technology towards internet banking services adoption, implying that the decomposed theory of planned behavior is an applicable underpinning theory for clarifying the important antecedents of internet banking
services adoption in the Iraqi context
The Adoption of a Smart Card at the University of Porto
The University of Porto, recognizing the relevance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for the overall performance of the institution, is committed to technology leadership for the benefit of the academic community. The Digital University Department is a central department dedicated to ICT, whose mission is to promote and extend the use of ICT to all the activities of the University, as well as to induce the development and adoption of innovative services in this area.In this context and following a recent partnership celebrated in July 2008 between the University and the Santander Totta Bank, the Digital University Department is supporting the adoption of a university identification card - U.PORTO Card. It is a smart card with several embedded technologies allowing the implementation of a campus card system. Although this project is still in the beginning, significant improvements have already been achieved. The main objective of this work is to present the project of the U.PORTO campus card. The goals, methodology, applications, adoption factors and ongoing developments are here discussed
The First 25 Years of the Bled eConference: Themes and Impacts
The Bled eConference is the longest-running themed conference associated with the Information Systems discipline. The focus throughout its first quarter-century has been the application of electronic tools, migrating progressively from Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) via Inter-Organisational Systems (IOS) and eCommerce to encompass all aspects of the use of networking facilities in industry and government, and more recently by individuals, groups and society as a whole. This paper reports on an examination of the conference titles and of the titles and abstracts of the 773 refereed papers published in the Proceedings since 1995. This identified a long and strong focus on categories of electronic business and corporate perspectives, which has broadened in recent years to encompass the democratic, the social and the personal. The conference\u27s extend well beyond the papers and their thousands of citations and tens of thousands of downloads. Other impacts have included innovative forms of support for the development of large numbers of graduate students, and the many international research collaborations that have been conceived and developed in a beautiful lake-side setting in Slovenia
