An intelligent alternative approach to the efficient network management

Due to the increasing complexity and heterogeneity of networks and services, many efforts have been made to develop intelligent techniques for management. Network intelligent management is a key technology for operating large heterogeneous data transmission networks. This paper presents a proposal for an architecture that integrates management object specifications and the knowledge of expert systems. We present a new approach named Integrated Expert Management, for learning objects based on expert management rules and describe the design and implementation of an integrated intelligent management platform based on OSI and Internet management models. The main contributions of our approach is the integration of both expert system and managed models, so we can make use of them to construct more flexible intelligent management network. The prototype SONAP (Software for Network Assistant and Performance) is accuracy-aware since it can control and manage a network. We have tested our system on real data to the fault diagnostic in a telecommunication system of a power utility. The results validate the model and show a significant improvement with respect to the number of rules and the error rate in others systems

Characterization of Internet Traffic in UUM Wireless Networks

The development in communication technology and the propagation of mobile devices, lightweight, with built-in, high-speed radio access in wireless are making wireless access to the Internet the popular situation rather than a wire line. Whereas, the growth of the wireless network with additional mobile devices in the UUM and increasing number of users led to slow wireless connection. Therefore, understanding the behavior of traffic analysis helps us to develop, manage WLAN technology, and deploy. It help us to apply our workload analysis results to issues in wireless network deployment, such as capacity planning, and potential network optimizations, such as algorithms for load balancing across multiple Access Points (APs) in a wireless network. The trace composes of two parts: firstly, one that connects to the core switch in computer center which is connected with the distribution switches that link the Access Point (APs) with the wireless network at campus, and secondly, another one for the measurement of bulk data transfers and interactive data exchange between two nodes in UUM library, which had been initiated at that time. This thesis investigates the performance network and users' behavior in UUM wireless network

In this article some issues of application of intelligent technologies at the network monitoring of computer networks (CN) are discussed, which are very important additions to the network monitoring systems. Namely, using of mobile agents in the network monitoring systems and management of CN, as well as methods of machine learning for classification of CN network traffic

The application protocol management is a research area very recent, and a service that is not available yet. The goal of this work is to define a model for an application protocol management and to implement it. The application protocol selected to manage was the FTP, but this mode can be easily modified to manage other application protocols. The proposed model divides the network management in domains, where a domains is composed of several agents and subagents controled by one 01' more managers. The FTP management requires some management information stored in the ftp object group and maintained by the FTP subagent. Some FTP management services were also defined. The FTP management was implemented using the ISO DE, and can be accessed by other available network management systems, like AIX NetView/6000 and SunNet Managero.MestradoMestre em Ciência da Computaçã
