    Policy-Based Immunization Framework for MANET

    Mobility is one of the most important driving forces of hyper-interconnected world that we are living in. Mobile computing devices are becoming smaller, more ubiquitous and simultaneously providing more computing power. Various mobile devices in diff rent sizes with high computing power cause the emergence of new type of networks\u27 applications. Researchers in conferences, soldiers in battlefields, medics in rescue missions, and drivers in busy high- ways can perform more efficiently if they can be connected to each other and aware of the environment they are interacting with. In all mentioned scenarios, the major barrier to have an interconnected collaborative environment is the lack of infrastructure. Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are very promising to be able to handle this challenge. In recent years, extensive research has been done on MANETs in order to deliver secure and reliable network services in an infrastructure-less environment. MANETs usually deal with dynamic network topologies and utilize wireless technologies, they are very susceptible to different security attacks targeting different network layers. Combining policy-based management concepts and trust evaluation techniques in more granular level than current trust management frameworks can lead to interesting results toward more secure and reliable MANETs

    The paper presents a novel paradigm of software-defined network that is significantly different from previous traditional networks and enables new opportunities in the architecture and implementation of security solutions. The analysis of network environments will compare traditional networks and software-defined networks and emphasize significant differences. A survey of the existing research includes vector attacks and troubleshooting using the capabilities of SDN with an emphasis on access control, detection, and prevention of attacks. This paper uses previous research and results to obtain information that will be used in improving critical system network protection and compares it with the existing conventional approach as well as implements it through a hybrid software-defined network

    This thesis tries to study how SDN can be employed in order to support Quality of Service and how the support of this functionality is fundamental for today networks. Considering, not only the present networks, but also the next generation ones, the importance of the SDN paradigm become manifest as the use of satellite networks, which can be useful considering their broadcasting capabilities. For these reasons, this research focuses its attention on satellite - terrestrial networks and in particular on the use of SDN inside this environment. An important fact to be taken into account is that the growing of the information technologies has pave the way for new possible threats. This research study tries to cover also this problem considering how SDN can be employed for the detection of past and future malware inside networks
