This paper discusses the comparison analyses for multi-attributes decision derived from crisp set, fuzzy set, intuitionistic fuzzy set and conflicting bifuzzy set. It focuses on the different evaluation approach using the binary system in crisp sets, the membership degree in [0,1] for fuzzy sets, the membership and non-membership degrees with condition 0 ≤ μA(x) + γA(x) ≤ 1 in intuitionistic fuzzy sets, and ‘equilibrium evaluation approach’ (i.e., positive and negative aspects) in conflicting bifuzzy sets. To meet these objectives, all the set theories are briefly discussed specifically the definitions, equalities, the differences as well as the different evaluation approaches to obtain the relative approximation index. A numerical example using Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is also presented to clarify each of the above set theories. From the calculation results, it shows the significant differences of relative approximation index for each theory and different rating between the crisp set and other set theories. It is also found that all the set theories have recorded the same rating and consistent, except crisp sets. Thus, this situation offers wider opportunities to investigate more deeply and holistically for future research

Permutation based decision making under fuzzy environment using Tabu search

One of the techniques, which are used for Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is the permutation. In the classical form of permutation, it is assumed that weights and decision matrix components are crisp. However, when group decision making is under consideration and decision makers could not agree on a crisp value for weights and decision matrix components, fuzzy numbers should be used. In this article, the fuzzy permutation technique for MCDM problems has been explained. The main deficiency of permutation is its big computational time, so a Tabu Search (TS) based algorithm has been proposed to reduce the computational time. A numerical example has illustrated the proposed approach clearly. Then, some benchmark instances extracted from literature are solved by proposed TS. The analyses of the results show the proper performance of the proposed method

A novel sorting method topsis-sort: an applicaiton for tehran environmental quality evaluation

Many real-life problems are multi-objective by nature that requires evaluation of more than one criterion, therefore MCDM has become an important issue. In recent years, many MCDM methods have been developed; the existing approaches have been improved and extended. Multi criteria decision analysis has been regarded as a suitable set of methods to perform sustainability evaluations. Among numerous MCDM methods developed to solve real-life decision problems, Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) continues to work satisfactorily in diverse application areas. In this paper, a novel sorting method (TOPSIS-Sort) based on the classic TOPSIS method is presented. In the TOPSIS-Sort approach an outranking relation is used for sorting purposes. The proposed approach uses characteristic profiles for defining the classes and outranking relation as the preference model. Application of the proposed approach is demonstrated by classifying 22 districts of Tehran into five classes (but none of the districts fits into Classes 4 and 5), representing areas with different levels of environmental quality. An analysis and assessment of the environmental conditions in Tehran helps to identify the districts with the poor environmental quality. Priority should be given to these areas to maintain and improve the quality of environment. The results obtained by the TOPSIS-Sort give credence to its success, because the results of sorting con firm our and specialists’ evaluation of the districts. This research provides appropriate results with respect to the development of sorting models in the form of outranking relations. The model, proposed by this study, is applicable to the other outranking methods such as ELECTRE, PROMETHEE, etc

A framework for Comminution Circuits Design evaluation using grey compromise programming

Comminution process, particularly grinding, is very important in the mineral processing industry. Some characteristics of ore particles, which occur as a product of grinding process, have a significant impact on the effects of further ore processing. At the same time, this process requires a significant amount of energy and also significantly affects the overall processing costs. Therefore, in this paper, we propose new multiple criteria decision making model based on grey compromise programming for adequate comminution circuit design selection. Although it is based on a simple procedure, we consider that the proposed model is efficient and flexible, and that it also represents the basis for forming more sophisticated models for comminution circuit design selection, as in addition, many other decision making problems in business environment, which is characterized by predictions and uncertainty

An Evaluation of the environmental factors for supply chain strategy decisions using grey systems and composite indicators

    Get PDF
The purpose of this work is to assess the importance of environmental factors in a supply chain with four partners as a preliminary step to select the competitive strategies and objectives. To achieve this purpose, a real case study was carried out in a footwear supply chain, in which two approaches were used: the grey system theory and uncertainty analysis tools for composite indicators. In order to validate both approaches, a seven-phase research methodology was developed and applied to our case study. In addition, the priorization of environmental factors was calculated individually for each partner. The results allow managers to establish the competitive strategy that best suits the prioritization of the most relevant factors and to define the most appropriate objectives where the supply chain should invest its efforts and resources

[EN] For decades, Fuzzy Sets Theory (FST) has been consistently developed, and its use has spread across multiple disciplines. In this process of knowledge transfer, fuzzy applications have experienced great diffusion. Among them, Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (fuzzy AHP) is one of the most widely used methodologies today. This study performs a systematic review following the PRISMA statement and addresses a bibliometric analysis of all articles published on fuzzy AHP in journals indexed in Web of Science, specifically in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). The analyzed database includes 2086 articles published between 1994 and 2022. The results show the thematic clusters, the evolution of the academic conversation and the main collaboration networks. The main contribution of this article is to clarify the research agenda on fuzzy AHP. The results of the study allow academics to detect publication opportunities. In addition, the evidence found allows researchers and academics setting the field¿s agenda to advise the editors of high-impact journals on gaps and new research trends.Castello-Sirvent, F.; Meneses-Eraso, C.; Alonso-Gómez, J.; Peris-Ortiz, M. An intuitionistic fuzzy grey model for selection problems with an application to the inspection planning in manufacturing firms

Most of complex selection problems in real-life applications are considered under multiple conflicting attributes formanufacturing firms. The appropriate selection plays an important role in the firm's performance from the tactical and operational viewpoints. The classical methods for the selection problems inmanufacturing firms are in adequate to deal with uncertainties ,including insufficiency in information availability and the imprecise or vague nature in experts 'judgments and preferences. To overcome these difficulties, this paper introduces a novel distance-based decision model for the multi-attributes analysis by considering the concepts of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs), grey relations and compromise ratio approaches .A weighting method for the attributes is first developed based on a generalized version of the entropy and IFSs along with experts 'judgments. Then,a new grey relational analysis is introduced to analyze the extent of connections between two potential scenarios by an intuitionistic fuzzy distance measurement. Finally,a new intuitionistic fuzzy compromise ratio index to prioritize the scenarios is proposed by considering the weight of the strategy for the maximum group utility inintuitionistic fuzzy grey environment. The feasibility and practicability of the proposed distance-based decision model is illustrated in detail, and it is implemented in a real case study to the inspection planning for the oil pump housing from Renault automobile manufacturing
