CHAPTER VI 6.1 Conclusion of the Research This research is descriptive statistic, focus the implementation of Student Centered Learning (SCL) elements in internal environment on Unand. To conclude objectives of the research, researcher was describe such as; 1. The implementation of SCL at University of Andalas. Based on the analysis and discussion of this research about evaluation implementation SCL at Unand, it can be concluded that the objective of this study was describe the evaluation of SCL implementation at Unand. The variables of this research consists of (1) TCL approach, (2) SCL approach, (3) Learning Method based on TCL and SCL, which divided into three kinds method of learning process; Mass Instructions, Individual Studying, and Group Studying. From data analysis, on table 5.8 in page 51, we can see TCR value on enough position, based on TCR interpretation. It is means lecturers at Unand not full used TCL. If they are used it the value of TCR is good, when they are not full used TCL method the value of it is enough, if they are not used TCL the value is poor. Researcher assume, respondents at Unand combine TCL and SCL in learning process. The result from TCL can related on learning method, especially for mass instruction method. Usually lecturer used TCL or SCL based on learning method. From table 5.10 in page 58. We know that mass instruction TCR on enough position, it is means respondents not full used indicators on mass instruction method. This analysis can add from open question, we can see on appendix. They used collaboration between TCL and SCL in learning process. The respondents from collaboration of TCL and SCL have high position than TCL or SCL respondents. Lecturers have some reasons to choose the method in learning process, we can seen on appendix. From table 5.9 page 55. We know that TCR value on variable SCL is good position, it is means respondents used SCL in learning process. We can see also on rerata average, value of rerata average on agree position, its means, respondents agree to used SCL. If lecturers used SCL, they must be focus on individual study and group study indicators as learning method. SCL result can be related on both of learning method above. The result individual study from table 5.11 page 62 and result of group study from table 5.12 page 66, TCR value of both method on enough position, it is means respondents not full used learning method indicators. Researcher can conclude that respondents within transmition process from TCL approach to SCL approach. Respondents said Rector of Unand recommended for lecturers to used SCL in learning process. which show on appendix. So that, respondents agree to used indicators of SCL, but compared to practice in the class, the respondents still have difficulties in changing of way or method from TCL to SCL, some barriers of respondents can be see on appendix. 2. Researcher was determine factors that might be improve the SCL implementation. From data open questions of respondents, researcher can made statements about factors that improve the SCL implementation in learning process, such as; a. Unand must socialize SCL approach to all of lecturers and students in order to prepare about it. b. Unand must made program of training SCL as continual, so that, training SCL to lecturers can optimal and can reduce some problems like barriers in learning method. c. Unand must complete all of facilities that appropriate with standar of SCL implementation such as, tools of labor, network system or internet etc. 6.2 Limitation of Research This study still has some limitations of research, that are: 1. This research just evaluate SCL approach that used by lecturers. 2. The limitation of researcher knowledge to finish this research, because of limited resources such as journal, books, and previous reserach about SCL. 6.3 Recomendation of Research The research result is expect to: 1. This reseacrch as refences can be use in other research in term of evaluation implementation of SCL on students. 2. Researcher hope in the future, another resercher can study widely. Such as evaluate effect of SCL as a learning approach on students 6.4 Implication of Research From the previous discussion, this study has implications for learning process in Unand. There are: 1. Research result can as input for department and lecturers in developing learning approach. 2. Research result can as a guide for leaders and lectures to improving academic activities

It is widely acknowledged that student-centred learning (SCL) gives learners feelings of being appreciated and respected, and thus helps students to be engaged and motivated to learn. SCL is an approach implemented in online learning (OL). This study investigates the role of the tutor, in implementing and facilitating SCL as a positive learning environment in the specific context of OL in Egyptian Higher Education (HE). The study examines tutors’ perceptions of SCL in OL as a concept and the factors that influence these perceptions, the pedagogical approaches they need to successfully implement SCL, and the affordances and challenges of this implementation in the specific context of Egyptian HE. Data for this study was collected from 20 online tutors at two major Egyptian universities in Northern Egypt both in focus groups and in individual semi-structured interviews. This study contributes to the area of research into SCL on matters such as definition of SCL, tutors’ approaches to understanding the concept, and its practical application in OL. The study investigates the pedagogical repertoire tutors need to implement SCL, describes approaches and strategies applied in SCL, and highlights results which can be used to offer support and guidance to tutors in order to facilitate their students' ongoing learning processes, leading to individually tailored and flexible education paths. The study findings indicate that online tutors approach the issue of SCL in OL with reference to four main aspects: prerequisites, challenges, concerns and solutions. The main research findings are that student control and independence are not widely practised in online Egyptian HE. There are many concerns for online tutors when empowering students such as: losing control, losing tutors’ respect and the invisibility of online students for monitoring them. Moreover, the research found that student trust is an issue that needs to be resolved. For tutors, tutor-student trust is a process that requires students’ early preparation to learn how to be responsible. The study found that social collaboration in OL offers promising opportunities for educational reform in Egyptian HE, particularly with respect to problems such as overcrowded classes. Furthermore, tutors acknowledged the importance of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in gaining the professional and experiential skills that they need to develop their teaching practices. Another finding of this study, referring to the low wages for tutors in Egypt, is that financial incentives have a significant impact on tutors’ feelings that they are invested in and acknowledged by their academic institutions. Consequently, tutors are getting engaged with the learning community and using the utmost abilities to pursue their work

This paper presents the Sustainable Consumption Leveraging (SCL) Model and its toolkit, which was developed to help businesses examine their potential for enabling sustainable consumption whilst identifying areas of opportunity to improve their business model and value proposition. The paper begins by establishing the contribution of business towards sustainable consumption and sets out user-centred design (UCD) principles as a valuable approach to leverage sustainable consumption. The relationship between UCD principles and sustainable consumption in a business context was studied through qualitative research. The findings of in-depth interviews with experts, a focus group and a document analysis led to the construction of a theoretical framework, which was used to develop the SCL Model and its toolkit

Drell-Yan process in pApA collisions: the exact treatment of coherence effects

In this work, we investigate production of Drell-Yan (DY) pairs in proton-nucleus collisions in kinematic regions where the corresponding coherence length does not exceed the nuclear radius, RAR_A, and the quantum coherence effects should be treated with a special care. The results for the nucleus-to-nucleon production ratio available in the literature so far are usually based on the assumption of a very long coherence length (LCL) lc≫RAl_c\gg R_A. Since the onset of coherence effects is controlled by the coherence length lcl_c, we estimated its magnitude in various kinematic regions of the DY process and found that the LCL approximation should not be used at small and medium c.m. collision energies (s≲200\sqrt{s} \lesssim 200 GeV) as well as at large dilepton invariant masses. In order to obtain realistic predictions, we computed for the first time the DY cross section using the generalised color dipole approach based on the rigorous Green function formalism, which naturally incorporates the color transparency and quantum coherence effects and hence allows to estimate the nuclear shadowing with no restrictions on the CL. In addition to the shadowing effect, we studied a complementary effect of initial state interactions (ISI) that causes an additional suppression at large values of the Feynman variable. Numerical results for the nuclear modification factor accounting for the ISI effect and the finite lcl_c are compared to the data available from the fixed-target FNAL measurements and a good agreement has been found. Besides, we present new predictions for the nuclear suppression as a function of dilepton rapidity and invariant mass in the kinematic regions that can be probed by the RHIC collider as well as by the planned AFTER@LHC and LHCb fixed-target experiments.Comment: 14 pages, 10 figure

An Optical Study of Two VY Sculptoris-Type Cataclysmic Binary Stars: V704 And and RX J2338+431

We report observations of the known cataclysmic variable star (CV) V704 And, and also confirm that the optical counterpart of the ROSAT Galactic Plane Survey source RX J2338+431 is a heretofore-neglected CV. Photometric and spectroscopic observations from MDM Observatory show both systems to be novalike variables that exhibit dips of 4-5 magnitudes from their mean brightnesses, establishing them as members of the VY~Scl subclass. From high-state emission-line radial velocities, we determine orbital periods of 0.151424(3) d (3.63 hr) for V704 And and 0.130400(1) d (3.13 hr) for RX J2338+431. In V704 And, we find that the H-alpha emission-line measures cluster into distinct regions on a plot of equivalent width versus full width at half-maximum, which evidently correspond to high, intermediate, and low photometric states. This allows us to assign spectra to photometric states when contemporaneous photometry is not available, an apparently novel method that may be useful in studies of other novalikes. Our low-state spectra of RX J2338+431 show features of an M-type secondary star, from which we estimate a distance of 890 +- 200 pc, in good agreement with the Gaia DR2 parallax.Comment: Accepted for Astronomical Journa

Interacting Energy Components and Observational H(z)H(z) Data

In this note, we extend our previous work [Phys. Lett. B 644, 7 (2007), astro-ph/0609597], and compare eleven interacting dark energy models with different couplings to the observational H(z)H(z) data. However, none of these models is better than the simplest Λ\LambdaCDM model. This implies that either more exotic couplings are needed in the cosmological models with interaction between dark energy and dust matter, or {\em there is no interaction at all}. We consider that this result is disadvantageous to the interacting dark energy models studied extensively in the literature.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables, Latex2e; v2: references added; v3: discussions added, Phys. Brown-Rho Scaling in the Strong Coupling Lattice QCD

We examine the Brown-Rho scaling for meson masses in the strong coupling limit of lattice QCD with one species of staggered fermion. Analytical expression of meson masses is derived at finite temperature and chemical potential. We find that meson masses are approximately proportional to the equilibrium value of the chiral condensate, which evolves as a function of temperature and chemical potential.Comment: Prepared for Chiral Symmetry in Hadron and Nuclear Physics (Chiral07), Nov. 13-16, 2007, Osaka, Japa
