Indonesian Named-entity Recognition for 15 Classes Using Ensemble Supervised Learning
AbstractHere, we describe our effort in building Indonesian Named Entity Recognition (NER) for newspaper article with 15 classes which is larger number of class type compared to existing Indonesian NER. We employed supervised machine learning in the NER and conducted experiments to find the best attribute combination and the best algorithm with highest accuracy. We compared the attribute of word level, sentence level and document level. In the algorithm, we compared several single machine learning algorithms and also an ensembled one. Using 457 news articles, the best accuracy was achieved by using ensemble technique where the result of several machine learning algorithms were used as the feature for one machine learning algorithm

REVIEWING OUTSOURCING CONTROVERSY IN INDONESIA: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY OF HUMAN RESOURCES OUTSOURCING CONTROVERSY IN SEMARANG CITY
Outsourcing in Indonesia is still a controversy. The different concept of outsourcing between employers (vendors and users), employees/outsourced workers, and government makes another problem in outsourcing implementation, especially in industrial relationship either in enterprise and macro level. This study aims to determine the concept of outsourcing of each element of the tripartite, the problems that arise in the implementation, and solutions from each party, in dealing with the practice of the working system. The problems under study, based on specific issues related to industrial relations, including: wages, welfare programs, health and safety, discrimination, job security, and dispute resolution, and termination of employment.
This qualitative research is an exploratory, with the data collection methods: focus group discussions, observations, interviews, and study documentation. The data collected from employers (vendors and users), the national unions, worker outsourcing, and government within the scope of Semarang city.
The results showed that the problems that arise due to differences in each party's conception of the tripartite elements. Uncertainty rules of outsourcing is a major problem, giving rise to labor flexibility in the implementation, which implies profitable for each party, especially the workers of outsourcing. In the end, the regulation enforcement related to the implementation of the outsourcing firm is badly needed, to compromise the disputes of workers and employer interests
Extracting Temporal and Causal Relations between Events
Structured information resulting from temporal information processing is
crucial for a variety of natural language processing tasks, for instance to
generate timeline summarization of events from news documents, or to answer
temporal/causal-related questions about some events. In this thesis we present
a framework for an integrated temporal and causal relation extraction system.
We first develop a robust extraction component for each type of relations, i.e.
temporal order and causality. We then combine the two extraction components
into an integrated relation extraction system, CATENA---CAusal and Temporal
relation Extraction from NAtural language texts---, by utilizing the
presumption about event precedence in causality, that causing events must
happened BEFORE resulting events. Several resources and techniques to improve
our relation extraction systems are also discussed, including word embeddings
and training data expansion. Finally, we report our adaptation efforts of
temporal information processing for languages other than English, namely
Italian and Indonesian.Comment: PhD Thesi
