An Oral History of Programming Practices:Gender and Age Dynamics and Digital (Dis)Engagement Among Computer Programmers in Finland
Since the 1980s, educational policies in many countries have aimed at improving
the computer literacy and programming competencies of the population. Over the same
period, the possibilities that people have seen regarding programming and everyday
programming practices have emerged as an area of strong interest within historical
scholarship. The paper contributes to these discussions by drawing on techniques of oral
history to focus on programming hobbies and practices in Finland. Examining data from a
massive survey of computer hobbyists (N = 1,453) and their recollections about personal
computer use (largely during the 1980s), the paper gathers new information on what leads
to people’s pursuit of or interest in programming and how their programming habits have
changed over time. The study links together the gender and age dynamics in programming
and shows how the respondents not only engaged with but also could become disengaged
from programming for various reasons.peerReviewe
Annual Report of the University, 1988-1989, Volumes 1-5
Significant Developments During Academic Year, 1988-89 A. Approximately one man-year of effort was devoted to analysis to detect possible gender or racial/ethnic bias in faculty personnel operations at the university. This effort was required to support responses by the Counsel\\u27s office to queries put by OFCCP. B. Approval by the NMCHE of its statewide postsecondary education plan, Planning for the Class of 2005, required review of the plan by President May. P&PS provided that review plus all of the written institutional testimony. C. NMCHE developed a 16-page directive, Institutional Planning Guidelines, which required extensive input to the Commission\\u27s Planning Committee. Commissioner Taylor and the NMCHE staff resisted most of the institutional recommendations. Of some significance was the addition by NMCHE of a set of statewide issues in New Mexico higher education drafted in P&PS

Computer education: new perspectives
Computer technologies were introduced into educational contexts over two decades ago and while there is some argument about the extent to which computers have realised their potential, they have undoubtedly had a significant impact on education. A look into any school will reveal computers being used widely by clerical staff, teachers and children.
It is clear that computers are here to stay, but it is less clear as to how effectively they are being used in the learning process. Teachers not only need to use computers but they need to use them well, and in order to do this they must understand what computer technology can offer and the ways in which such technology can be used in teaching and learning
Construction management abstracts : cumulative abstracts and indexes of journals in construction management, 1983-2000
The purpose of this document is to provide a single source of reference for
every paper published in the journals directly related to research in
Construction Management.
It is indexed by author and keyword and contains the titles, authors, abstracts
and keywords of every article from the following journals:
• Building Research and Information (BRI)
• Construction Management and Economics (CME)
• Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management (ECAM)
• Journal of Construction Procurement (JCP)
• Journal of Construction Research (JCR)
• Journal of Financial Management in Property and Construction (JFM)
• RICS Research Papers (RICS)
The index entries give short forms of the bibliographical citations, rather than
page numbers, to enable annual updates to the abstracts. Each annual
update will carry cumulative indexes, so that only one index needs to be
consulted
