    Get PDF
In this modern internet generation, routing protocol plays an important role. The Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is an advanced protocol for distance-vector routing used on a computer network to simplify routing and configuration decisions. Data packets are transmitted from router to router via internet networks before they reach their destination device on the Internet. The main objective of this paper is to configure and monitor the network by the provider. The protocol implemented, EIGRP is analyzed using the GNS3 software.  In GNS3 software, the setup includes routers and hosts is simulated to display a network that consists of three areas. It analyzed the ping test, display neighbours and topology table, and the number packet received and sent. As a result, the simulated protocol, EIGRP show acceptable performance with hellos sent/received packets are 3544/1766, 144/143 and 6383/2107 of a router; R1, R2, and R3 respectively. In conclusion, EIGRP is the best in routing protocol and provide excellent internetworking

Pemodelan Proses Pemilihan Rute pada Protokol Babel dengan Activity Diagram dan Transition System

Babel Routing Protocol was designed by Juliuz Chrobozcek and its written specification was published in RFC 6126 in April 2014. Babel is one of distance vector routing protocols that has its own distinctive features. Although it sends updates periodically to its neighbours, it also sends triggered updates whenever it detects its neighbours changes. The changes can include broken links and new link detections. Babel route selection process is also unique, because there are feasibility condition requirements to ensure that the routing loop does not exist during the routing process. Unified Modelling Language (UML) is a modelling language widely used in software engineering. Its popularity is based on its capability to express and describe different aspects of a software. Activity diagram is one of the UML models to describe the flow activity of a software execution. It answers and explains situations like the different states that the flow can reach and the prerequisite to reach the next states. On the other hand, transition systems describe the transition state of the running software. When a software is executed, we have to keep track of the state of the software. We need to describe how state can jump from one to anotherstate and what requirements to do the transition from one state to another one.It will be helpful inthe debugging process laterwhen some errors occur. However, the transition system can be derived from the activity diagram that has described the software flow. This researchis conducted to give more understanding about the flow of the route selection process in Babel Routing Protocol and describe the flow in the activity diagram and further define it with a transition system

    Internet QoS for DiffServ-Enabled Routers

Differentiated Service Model (DiffServ) is currently a popular research topic as a low-cost method to bring QoS to today's Internet backbone network. In this paper, the author introduces the techniques and methodologies that used to design and implement DiffServ-enabled (DS-enabled) routers. The adaptations of DS-enabled routers are designed to cater to the low Internet connectivity within Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS LAN. The author has implemented basic DiffServ setting using three CISC03725 routers. Based on these DiffServ-enabled routers, the author set up a small scale lab network to study DiffServ QoS features: priority dropping (discrimination among different service classes), QoS guarantees and measuring QoS using various formal metrics (delay and throughput). Furthermore, the author present problems encountered during study, and the proposed solutions

Thesis (M.B.A.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management; and, (S.M.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; in conjunction with the Leaders for Manufacturing Program at MIT, 2006.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 93-99).While a significant amount of literature exists that discuss platform strategies used by general IT vendors, less of it has to do with corporate networking technology vendors specifically. However, many of the same strategic principles that are used to analyze general IT vendors can also be used to analyze networking vendors. This paper extends the platform model that was developed by Michael Cusumano and Annabel Gawer to networking vendors, outlining the unique strategic aspects that the networking market possesses. The paper then reviews the strategy of the first dominant corporate datacom vendor, IBM, how it achieved its dominance, and how it lost it. The paper then discusses the strategies of various vendors who attempted to replace IBM as the dominant networking platform vendor and how they failed to do so. Finally, the paper discusses Cisco Systems, a vendor who did manage to achieve a level of dominance that parallels IBM's, and how that company has utilized its strategy to achieve and maintain its current dominance. Finally, Cisco's current strategic challenges are discussed. The impact of the strategies of the various vendors on the evolution of corporate networking is also discussed.by Ray Fung.S.M.M.B.A

In the execution of these scenarios, 5 routers were used connected to each other through the serial ports, the configurations of the loopback interfaces with their IP addresses and the use of Cisco's own command were made; Also the configuration of a Core structure, among which the use of four switches with the configurations of the virtual local area network (VLAN) and the etherchannels trunk port assignments that allow the logical grouping of several physical Ethernet links stands out. The purpose of these laboratories includes the use and application of knowledge acquired throughout this CCNP diploma, which provides us with tools that will be applied in the workplace

Experiences on Evaluating Network Simulators: A Methodological Approach

    Get PDF
International audienceThere exists a variety of network simulators, used to imitate the protocols, nodes, and connections in data networks. They differ in their design, goals, and characteristics. Thus, comparing simulators requires a clear and standardized methodology. In this paper, based on a set of measurable and comparable criteria, we propose an approach to evaluate them. We validate the suggested approach with two network simulators, namely Packet Tracer and GNS3. In that regard, a test scenario is put forward on the two simulators, both in Linux and Windows environments, and their performance is monitored based on the suggested approach. This paper does not propose a method for selecting the best simulator, but it rather supplies the researchers with an evaluation tool, that can be used to describe, compare, and select the most suitable network simulators for a given scenario
