Space Transportation Avionics Technology Symposium. Volume 1: Executive summary

    Get PDF
The focus of the symposium was to examine existing and planned avionics technology processes and products and to recommend necessary changes for strengthening priorities and program emphases. Innovative changes in avionics technology development and design processes, identified during the symposium, are needed to support the increasingly complex, multi-vehicle, integrated, autonomous space-based systems. Key technology advances make such a major initiative viable at this time: digital processing capabilities, integrated on-board test/checkout methods, easily reconfigurable laboratories, and software design and production techniques

Space Transportation Materials and Structures Technology Workshop. Volume 1: Executive summary

    Get PDF
The workshop was held to provide a forum for communication within the space materials and structures technology developer and user communities. Workshop participants were organized into a Vehicle Technology Requirements session and three working panels: Materials and Structures Technologies for Vehicle Systems; Propulsion Systems; and Entry Systems. The goals accomplished were (1) to develop important strategic planning information necessary to transition materials and structures technologies from lab research programs into robust and affordable operational systems; (2) to provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas between technology developers and users; and (3) to provide senior NASA management with a review of current space transportation programs, related subjects, and specific technology needs. The workshop thus provided a foundation on which a NASA and industry effort to address space transportation materials and structures technologies can grow

The results of five technology panels which convened to discuss the Large Deployable Reflector (LDR) are presented. The proposed LDR is a large, ambient-temperature, far infrared/submillimeter telescope designed for space. Panel topics included optics, materials and structures, sensing and control, science instruments, and systems and missions. The telescope requirements, the estimated technology levels, and the areas in which the generic technology work has to be augmented are enumerated

This first section of the Article highlights the themes and tones of the 1945-1965 tax ethics literature, and then provides the political context and an overview of the legal changes in 1965-1985 that frame the tax ethics literature of that period. Section II begins in 1965, documenting the history of the first Formal Opinion (Opinion) on tax lawyer ethics issued by the American Bar Association\u27s (ABA) Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility (PR Committee), which after considerable criticism in the ensuing years was substantially revised by a second Opinion in 1985. Section III is focused on 1980-1985, investigating the first foray of the U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury) into directly and significantly regulating tax lawyers through Circular 230—and the bar\u27s response. Section IV highlights the discussions that occurred on the sides of the debates over PR Committee Opinions and Circular 230. Section V provides reflections on the 1945-1985 history of tax lawyer ethics

This Article examines the impact of the General Agreement on Trade in Services, or GATS, on legal services, and more specifically on the legal ethics rules in the United States. The Article begins by explaining background information about the global nature of legal services. Then, the Author details the structure and operation of the GATS, including its relevant exemptions, and its applicability to legal services. Next, the Article explores developments that have occurred since the signing of the GATS, including the possible significance to U.S. regulation of the legal profession. Subsequently, the Author identifies remaining questions about the effects of the GATS on U.S. legal ethics in the twenty-first century and identifies possible scenarios to which the GATS might be applied. Lastly, the Author calls for an increase in monitoring of, and participation in, the ongoing GATS 2000 negotiations by U.S. laywers who may be affected by its results

Thesis(Master) --KDI School:Master of Development Policy,2015Territorial integrity is one of the most vital concerns to every nation all over the world in general and Vietnam in particular. As a regional organization, ASEAN has proved its own value in assisting its member states, including Vietnam to protect that national interest. This study aims at identifying the benefits that ASEAN membership can provide Vietnam in its efforts to protect its national territorial integrity. The main approach used in this study is the approach of constructivism in which the study will try to find out how Vietnam’s territorial integrity becomes a regional issue and in what aspects this process can positively affects Vietnam’s territorial integrity protection process. The main method used in this study is the discourse analysis in which the researcher will analyze 4 main types of documents: Documents of the National Party Congress of Vietnam; Official statements from ASEAN and prestigious magazines and journals. From results of this method, the study would point out the benefits that ASEAN membership can provide Vietnam’s territorial integrity that can be a good reference for policy makers in Vietnam- ASEAN integration policy deployment.masterpublishedthu Ha LE
