Dans son premier livre (Philosophie de l’arithmétique 1891), Husserl élabore une très intéressante philosophie des mathématiques. Les concepts mathématiques sont interprétés comme des concepts de « deuxième ordre » auxquels on accède par une réflexion sur nos opérations mentales de numération. Il s’ensuit que la vérité de la proposition : « il y a trois pommes sur la table » ne consiste pas dans une relation mythique quelconque avec la réalité extérieure au psychique (où le nombre trois doit être exemplifié de quelque manière), mais bien dans le fait que les pommes sur la table peuvent être dénombrées correctement en tant qu’elles sont au nombre de trois. Nous avons affaire ici à une position « antiréaliste » fondant la vérité mathématique non pas dans un monde platonicien, mais bien sur le concept de rectitude de nos opérations formelles.In his first book (Philosophy of Arithmetic 1891) Husserl develops a very interesting philosophy of mathematics. Mathematical concepts are interpreted as « second order » concepts gained by reflection on our mental operations of counting. Accordingly the truth of the proposition « There are three apples on the table » consists not in any mythical relation to the extra-mental reality (where the number three should be somehow exemplified), but rather in the fact that the apples on the table can be correctly counted as three. We have here an « anti-realist » position grounding the mathematical truth not in platonic realms, but rather in the concept of correctness of our formal operations

Une formation professionnelle et scientifique en éducation est-elle possible ?

Pour réduire le malentendu entre l’univers des praticiens et celui des universitaires, trois propositions sont envisagées. Que les scientifiques et les praticiens acceptent les limites de la production scientifique : il n’y a pas là de vérités, seulement des hypothèses. Que les scientifiques reconnaissent que, si les questions ontologiques sont importantes, les questions pragmatiques méritent aussi leur considération. Que les uns et les autres admettent que les problèmes d’éducation sont marqués par la complexité et ne peuvent être abordés sérieusement que si l’on adopte une conception existentialiste autant de la vie que des diverses formes de connaissances.The author presents three propositions for reducing the misunderstanding that exists between educational practitioners and academics. These include: that both academics and those practicing accept the limitations of scientific findings which only provide hypotheses and not absolute truths, that scientists recognize that while ontological questions are important, pragmatic ones also merit their attention, and that both groups admit that educational problems are of a complex nature and can only be seriously investigated through an existential conception of life in general and of diverse forms of knowledge.A fin de reducir el malentendido entre el universo de la práctica educativa y aquel de los universitarios, han sido consideradas tres proposiciones. Que tanto los científicos como los prácticos acepten los límites de la producción científica : no hay en ella verdades, sino hipótesis. Que los científicos reconozcan que, no obstante la importancia de las cuestiones ontológicas, las cuestiones pragmáticas merecen también ser consideradas. Que ambos admitan que los problemas de éducación están marcados por la complejidad y no pueden ser abordados seriamente sin adoptar una concepción existencialista tanto de la vida como de las diversas formas de conociemiento.Um die Missverständnisse zwischen den Praktikern und den Universitätstheoretikern zu beseitigen, werden drei Vorschläge unterbreitet: Zunächst sollten sowohl die Wissenschaftler als auch die Praktiker die Grenzen wissenschaftlicher Produktion akzeptieren, d.h. es werden bei derartiger Tätigkeit keine verbindlichen Wahrheiten, sondern lediglich Arbeitshypothesen aufgestellt. Zweitens, die Wissenschaftler sollten anerkennen, dass, trotz der großen Bedeutung ontologischer Fragen auch der pragmatische Aspekt mit in Betracht gezogen werden muss. Und drittens sollten beiden Seiten zugeben, dass Bildungsprobleme sehr komplex sind und nur dann ernsthaft behandelt werden können, wenn man von einem existentialistischen Konzept des Lebens und der verschiedenen Wissenskategorien ausgeht

Le mal de pott sous occipital révélé par un abcès rétro pharyngien a propos d’un cas

Introduction : Pott's disease is the most frequent localisation of osteo-articular tuberculosis. The suboccipital localisation remains rare. Case report : A 12-years old boy, admitted for cervicalgy and dysphagia. His clinical exam revealed a swelling of posterior pharyngeal wall associated with a basicervical tumefaction fistulased to the skin. Cervical spine MRI and cervico-thoracic tomodensitometry show a retro-pharyngeal collection associated with necrosed mediastinal adenopathies and apical pulmonar retractile lesion. The patient underwent, in emergency, an incision of the retro-pharyngeal abscess. The biological assessment revealed an inflommatory syndrom. A tuberculine intra dermo-reaction was negative whereas the BK research were positive. The diagnosis of suboccipital Pott's disease associated with pulmonar tuberculosis was done. The anti-tuberculosis drug was mentained for 11 months with a good recovery. The follow-up was 6 years. Discussion : The sub occipital pain Pott localisation was rare. The cervicalgy was the important clinical sign of consultation. Whearas, the dysphagia and retro-pharyngeal abscess could be revealing. The MRI was necessary for an early diagnosis. The diagnosis confirmation was made by the presence of Mycobacterium Koch in the pottic lesion. The treatment was based on the anti-tuberculosis drugs for a period of 11 months completed with an orthopedic or surgical stabilisation of cervical occipital jonction.Keywords : Pott’s disease, tuberculosis, cervical spine, MRI, Mycobacterium Koch

Responsibility, refusal, and return: Thoughts on an ethics of inclination

In this article written in honour of Desmond Tutu, I raise inclination as put forward by Cavarero, together with disorientation/reorientation, as per Ahmed and Honig, to think differently about law, rule of law, and legal culture. Drawing on Ndebele, Klare and Van der Walt, I consider inclination as being also about abandoning those vertical and upright certitudes acquired by habit and culture. An ethics and ontology of inclination could, by way of refusal, disclose alternative understandings of law and rule of law. It could challenge those assumptions of certainty and truth that are so central to formalist and black-letter takes on law and current legal culture. I raise inclination also in the vein of a minor jurisprudence and joining McVeigh and Barr’s writing on minor jurisprudence to engage with the question of how to take responsibility for a lawful life, how to respond to the legacy of the past
