Identification of Nonlinear Systems Using Radial Basis Function Neural Network
This paper uses the radial basis function neural
network (RBFNN) for system identification of nonlinear systems.
Five nonlinear systems are used to examine the activity of RBFNN in system modeling of nonlinear systems; the five nonlinear systems are dual tank system, single tank system, DC motor system, and two academic models. The feed forward method is considered in this work for modelling the non-linear dynamic models, where the KMeans
clustering algorithm used in this paper to select the centers of radial basis function network, because it is reliable, offers fast convergence and can handle large data sets. The least mean square method is used to adjust the weights to the output layer, and Euclidean distance method used to measure the width of the Gaussian
function
Missing Value Imputation With Unsupervised Backpropagation
Many data mining and data analysis techniques operate on dense matrices or
complete tables of data. Real-world data sets, however, often contain unknown
values. Even many classification algorithms that are designed to operate with
missing values still exhibit deteriorated accuracy. One approach to handling
missing values is to fill in (impute) the missing values. In this paper, we
present a technique for unsupervised learning called Unsupervised
Backpropagation (UBP), which trains a multi-layer perceptron to fit to the
manifold sampled by a set of observed point-vectors. We evaluate UBP with the
task of imputing missing values in datasets, and show that UBP is able to
predict missing values with significantly lower sum-squared error than other
collaborative filtering and imputation techniques. We also demonstrate with 24
datasets and 9 supervised learning algorithms that classification accuracy is
usually higher when randomly-withheld values are imputed using UBP, rather than
with other methods
Blood Cell Classification Using the Hough Transform and Convolutional Neural Networks
https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-77712-2_62The detection of red blood cells in blood samples can be crucial for the disease detection in its early stages. The use of image
processing techniques can accelerate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of this detection. In this work, the use of the Circle Hough transform for cell detection and artificial neural networks for their identification as a red blood cell is proposed. Specifically, the application of neural networks (MLP) as a standard classification technique with (MLP) is compared with new proposals related to deep learning such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs). The different experiments carried out reveal the high classification ratio and show promising results after the application of the CNNs.Universidad de Málaga. Shape-based defect classification for Non Destructive Testing
The aim of this work is to classify the aerospace structure defects detected
by eddy current non-destructive testing. The proposed method is based on the
assumption that the defect is bound to the reaction of the probe coil impedance
during the test. Impedance plane analysis is used to extract a feature vector
from the shape of the coil impedance in the complex plane, through the use of
some geometric parameters. Shape recognition is tested with three different
machine-learning based classifiers: decision trees, neural networks and Naive
Bayes. The performance of the proposed detection system are measured in terms
of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision and Matthews correlation
coefficient. Several experiments are performed on dataset of eddy current
signal samples for aircraft structures. The obtained results demonstrate the
usefulness of our approach and the competiveness against existing descriptors.Comment: 5 pages, IEEE International Worksho
Wearable Sensor Data Based Human Activity Recognition using Machine Learning: A new approach
Recent years have witnessed the rapid development of human activity
recognition (HAR) based on wearable sensor data. One can find many practical
applications in this area, especially in the field of health care. Many machine
learning algorithms such as Decision Trees, Support Vector Machine, Naive
Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbor, and Multilayer Perceptron are successfully used in
HAR. Although these methods are fast and easy for implementation, they still
have some limitations due to poor performance in a number of situations. In
this paper, we propose a novel method based on the ensemble learning to boost
the performance of these machine learning methods for HAR
Handwritten Devanagari numeral recognition
Optical character recognition (OCR) plays a very vital role in today’s modern world. OCR can be useful for solving many complex problems and thus making human’s job easier. In OCR we give a scanned digital image or handwritten text as the input to the system. OCR can be used in postal department for sorting of the mails and in other offices. Much work has been done for English alphabets but now a day’s Indian script is an active area of interest for the researchers. Devanagari is on such Indian script. Research is going on for the recognition of alphabets but much less concentration is given on numerals. Here an attempt was made for the recognition of Devanagari numerals. The main part of any OCR system is the feature extraction part because more the features extracted more is the accuracy. Here two methods were used for the process of feature extraction. One of the method was moment based method. There are many moment based methods but we have preferred the Tchebichef moment. Tchebichef moment was preferred because of its better image representation capability. The second method was based on the contour curvature. Contour is a very important boundary feature used for finding similarity between shapes. After the process of feature extraction, the extracted feature has to be classified and for the same Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was used. There are many classifier but we preferred ANN because it is easy to handle and less error prone and apart from that its accuracy is much higher compared to other classifier. The classification was done individually with the two extracted features and finally the features were cascaded to increase the accuracy
