Targeted aspect based multimodal sentiment analysis:an attention capsule extraction and multi-head fusion network
Multimodal sentiment analysis has currently identified its significance in a
variety of domains. For the purpose of sentiment analysis, different aspects of
distinguishing modalities, which correspond to one target, are processed and
analyzed. In this work, we propose the targeted aspect-based multimodal
sentiment analysis (TABMSA) for the first time. Furthermore, an attention
capsule extraction and multi-head fusion network (EF-Net) on the task of TABMSA
is devised. The multi-head attention (MHA) based network and the ResNet-152 are
employed to deal with texts and images, respectively. The integration of MHA
and capsule network aims to capture the interaction among the multimodal
inputs. In addition to the targeted aspect, the information from the context
and the image is also incorporated for sentiment delivered. We evaluate the
proposed model on two manually annotated datasets. the experimental results
demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model for this new task
Multimodal Sentiment Analysis Based on Deep Learning: Recent Progress
Multimodal sentiment analysis is an important research topic in the field of NLP, aiming to analyze speakers\u27 sentiment tendencies through features extracted from textual, visual, and acoustic modalities. Its main methods are based on machine learning and deep learning. Machine learning-based methods rely heavily on labeled data. But deep learning-based methods can overcome this shortcoming and capture the in-depth semantic information and modal characteristics of the data, as well as the interactive information between multimodal data. In this paper, we survey the deep learning-based methods, including fusion of text and image and fusion of text, image, audio, and video. Specifically, we discuss the main problems of these methods and the future directions. Finally, we review the work of multimodal sentiment analysis in conversation
Octa: Omissions and Conflicts in Target-Aspect Sentiment Analysis
Sentiments in opinionated text are often determined by both aspects and
target words (or targets). We observe that targets and aspects interrelate in
subtle ways, often yielding conflicting sentiments. Thus, a naive aggregation
of sentiments from aspects and targets treated separately, as in existing
sentiment analysis models, impairs performance.
We propose Octa, an approach that jointly considers aspects and targets when
inferring sentiments. To capture and quantify relationships between targets and
context words, Octa uses a selective self-attention mechanism that handles
implicit or missing targets. Specifically, Octa involves two layers of
attention mechanisms for, respectively, selective attention between targets and
context words and attention over words based on aspects. On benchmark datasets,
Octa outperforms leading models by a large margin, yielding (absolute) gains in

Dynamic Classification of Sentiments from Restaurant Reviews Using Novel Fuzzy-Encoded LSTM
User reviews on social media have sparked a surge in interest in the application of sentiment analysis to provide feedback to the government, public and commercial sectors. Sentiment analysis, spam identification, sarcasm detection and news classification are just few of the uses of text mining. For many firms, classifying reviews based on user feelings is a significant and collaborative effort. In recent years, machine learning models and handcrafted features have been used to study text classification, however they have failed to produce encouraging results for short text categorization. Deep neural network based Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Fuzzy logic model with incremental learning is suggested in this paper. On the basis of F1-score, accuracy, precision and recall, suggested model was tested on a large dataset of hotel reviews. This study is a categorization analysis of hotel review feelings provided by hotel customers. When word embedding is paired with LSTM, findings show that the suggested model outperforms current best-practice methods, with an accuracy 81.04%, precision 77.81%, recall 80.63% and F1-score 75.44%. The efficiency of the proposed model on any sort of review categorization job is demonstrated by these encouraging findings
Jointly learning aspect-focused and inter-aspect relations with graph convolutional networks for aspect sentiment analysis
In this paper, we explore a novel solution of constructing a heterogeneous graph for each instance by leveraging aspect-focused and inter-aspect contextual dependencies for the specific aspect and propose an Interactive Graph Convolutional Networks (InterGCN) model for aspect sentiment analysis. Specifically, an ordinary dependency graph is first constructed for each sentence over the dependency tree. Then we refine the graph by considering the syntactical dependencies between contextual words and aspect-specific words to derive the aspect-focused graph. Subsequently, the aspect-focused graph and the corresponding embedding matrix are fed into the aspect-focused GCN to capture the key aspect and contextual words. Besides, to interactively extract the inter-aspect relations for the specific aspect, an inter-aspect GCN is adopted to model the representations learned by aspect-focused GCN based on the inter-aspect graph which is constructed by the relative dependencies between the aspect words and other aspects. Hence, the model can be aware of the significant contextual and aspect words when interactively learning the sentiment features for a specific aspect. Experimental results on four benchmark datasets illustrate that our proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art methods and substantially boosts the performance in comparison with BERT
