The purpose of this paper is to analyze the literary traits and the symbolic values that ancient authors, especially Roman authors, gave to flowers in general and to mirtle in particular. Later, I will turn to the symbolism of wormwood, much less used in poetry. Finally, I will concentrate on Ovid, because it is in his work where the intentional opposition between one plant and the other is found

Gaudia verae vitae and carpe diem in Martial’s epigrams

Time escapes and everyday life distracts us with useless pursuits. Nothing essential should be delayed between a tomorrow that does not exist and such a fugitive today. So says Marcial in a set of epigrams always aimed to encourage us to squeeze the present and pursue an ideal of life that borders on the topic of mediocritas aurea./n

Die lateinische Poesie des Laurent de Premierfait. Französischer Frühhumanismus in mittelalterlicher Tradition? Because of his translations (Boccaccio, Cicero, Aristotle) as well as his commentaries on ancient classics (Statius and Terence), Laurent de Premierfait (1360/1370-1418) is considered one of the most important representatives of early French humanism. His own Latin poetry, however, which has survived only to a small extent, has barely been studied. The present article provides the first critical edition as well as a literary-historical classification and evaluation of the surviving poems. In this context, the main question concerns the medieval and humanist traditions that Laurent’s poetry follows

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have a significant impact on the behavior of taxpayers in countries with limited economic means, including sub-Saharan Africa. Even though Africa still appears at the bottom of the world rankings for the development of information and communication technologies (ICT) and the exploitation of their potential, the spread of mobile telephony on the continent, which date of the late 1990s, however, has accelerated sharply in recent years. The payment of taxes and duties by means of the mobile telephone, subject which occupies this article, falls within this rate of opportunities offered by the tool, but remains limited to a small number of taxpayers (residing in town) while a large number of taxpayers the majority of small and medium taxpayers remain dispersed in the semi-urban areas of the provinces. The latter live in tax havens due to the lack of resources of the tax authorities to locate, register and tax them. This is where ICTs find their place.Consequently, communication for the promotion of tax compliance is not sufficient without the support of IT solutions made available to taxpayers on the one hand and without the support of awareness campaigns (mass communication with the help of the media) on the other hand, to encourage taxpayers to use and adopt them. This article focuses on harnessing the opportunity of the mobile phone as a means of boosting tax compliance through the rewarding experience of facilitating and speeding transactions between taxpayer and Revenue authority
