Increasing requirements such as short delivery times for customer-specific workpieces with high adherence to delivery dates and quality are becoming increasingly important in practice. The central planning and scheduling of processes has proven to be insufficient in the past due to inadequate feedback from the process level and an inflexible response to disruptions. Attempts are currently being made to counter this problem by decentralizing planning tasks. The responsibility of skilled workers increases as the scope of tasks increases. In order to be able to meet the requirements, the production employee needs additional information that the current system solutions only offer at the production management level. Fast access from the machine workstation to current production data is becoming increasingly important in machining production. The success and failure in introducing new concepts in manufacturing is largely determined by user acceptance. A graphical user interface and the extensive elimination of rigidly defined processes that impose procedures on the user have a positive effect in this context. Every solution for production should therefore offer the worker at the machine support in accomplishing his tasks and a personal benefit that is visible to him. With the user-oriented control software in the flexible workshop production BOSIFLEX, the required current production information can be called up quickly. This also applies to machine workplaces. The system is based on the networking of all workplaces with a local area network. The use of a central data server ensures that all areas of a company work with the same information. The disadvantages of redundant data storage are eliminated. The exemplary connection of an NC programming system to the central tool database and the central NC program management document the savings potential through the comprehensive use of all information available in a company. When using BOSIFLEX in a decentrally organized group production, a two-stage use of the modules on a group computer and on a machine computer, which is optimally integrated in an open CNC control, is provided. The more powerful group computer is used for NC programming, data maintenance and the distribution of operations to the individual workstations. The machine computer helps the user to fine-tune the work steps and procure all the data required for production. The machine-oriented Lean Order Manager MALOM supports the employee on a machine tool as well as the person in charge of a production group in decentralized fine planning and resource procurement. MALOM works in a process-oriented manner. The skilled worker is provided with graphical information on the raw part and the finished workpiece for each manufacturing step. With the cross-references provided by MALOM, the user can transfer the NC main and subroutines, as well as the setting and work instructions with the machine-related NC program management system for open controls MASNOST from a central manufacturing data server to the work place. The machine-related tool management system for open controls MAWOST offers the possibility, from the CNC control, to access all the tool information required for production quickly and without redundancy. All data is stored on the central tool data server. This makes it possible to locate and reserve all assembled tools that are available in production. The reserved tools are delivered immediately after the end of their current use on another machine or after the measurement on a tool presetting device. The data required for the tool object in a numerical control are supplied by the central data server, including a detailed graphic, via the local area network. After using the tool on the machine, which is completed by removing it from the magazine, the associated data record is automatically updated on the host computer. In order to increase efficiency in machining, the improvement of the integration of machine workplaces in the data flow of a company is just as important as the improved feedback of the process data to the skilled worker. Tool monitoring systems have the task of protecting the machine and the user from the consequences of collisions and tool breakage. In addition, they contribute to an improved utilization of the tool life potential and can support the skilled worker in the optimization of the manufacturing process. From the perspective of the user, the integration of tool monitoring in the CNC control will have the highest priority in the future. The concept of a tool monitoring system for turning technology, which is integrated in an open CNC control, takes these requirements into account. A microsystem, which is embedded in the clamping holder of a turning tool, absorbs the forces in three directions, the vibrations and the temperature. A downstream preprocessing of the data makes the measured values available to a digital signal processor wirelessly. In addition, a data carrier is included in the microsystem, which on the one hand stores calibration values for the sensors and on the other hand covers the range of tasks of a freely programmable tool identification system. The digital signal processor takes over collision detection in real time, the resulting shutdown of the machine and compression of the data. Wear detection is implemented on an IBM-compatible personal computer that is part of an open control system. The system presented is designed for use in a SINUMERIK 840 D. The implemented interfaces to the NC core are coordinated with this controller. When porting to a different control system, a not inconsiderable adjustment effort is required. In order to ensure a more universal use, an adaptation of the entire system to an open control core based on the OSACA principle can be considered in the future
