The Fish Tank Model for Mobile Game Publishing Business Performance Evaluation

    Get PDF
Business intelligence has been applied in the area of game development research for many years. However, few systematic research efforts are focusing on the game publishing side, especially for the mobile game publishing business. We aim to identify and remedy the shortcomings of the existing ARM funnel model for free-to-play mobile game analytics by introducing a new model, the Fish Tank Model, which combines the analysis of players’ behavior with in-game system data to drive the whole process of mobile game publishing. Based on the new model, we also bring and create relevant metrics for effectively measuring the business performance of mobile game publishing. Our main contributions are a survey of business intelligence used in game research and an analysis to reveal the insufficiency of an existing model for game publishing. Finally, we discuss business requirements for mobile game publishing and propose a brand-new model which better suits the free-to-play mobile game publishing business performance evaluation

Analysis of Mobile Business Processes for the Design of Mobile Information Systems

The adoption of mobile technologies into companies frequently follows a technology-driven approach without precise knowledge about the potential benefits that may be realised. Especially in larger organisations with complex business processes, a systematic procedure is required if a verifiable economic benefit is to be created by the use of mobile technologies. Therefore, the term “mobile business process”, as well as requirements for information systems applied in such processes, are defined in this paper. Subsequently, we introduce a procedure for the systematical analysis of the distributed structure of a business process model in order to identify mobile sub-processes. For that purpose, the method Mobile Process Landscaping is used to decompose a process model into different levels of detail. The method aims to manage the complexity and limit the process analysis to the potentially mobile sub-processes from the beginning. The result of the analysis can be used on the one hand as a foundation for the redesign of the business processes and on the other hand for the requirements engineering of mobile information systems. An application of this method is shown by the example of business processes in the insurance industry

Analysing and Enhancing Business Processes and IT-Systems for Mobile Workforce Automation - A Framework Approach

Mobile B2E-applications (business-to-employee) can add significant value to a company’s business, when large workforce divisions are involved in the execution of certain business processes. From a technical point of view, the major issues are solved (e.g. solutions for connectivity, broadband mobile networks, synchronization mechanisms, secure protocols etc.). But from a business point of view there is a lack of methodology regarding the alignment of technical solutions to the business needs. As companies face a continuously faster change in business models, legal constraints and customer needs, highly flexible systems are needed to react to changing business processes. Furthemore, the introduction of new mobile systems is often a technologydriven process, pushing the alignment of software and systems to the highly specific, fast changing business needs into the background. This paper introduces a framework summarizing the findings from earlier research and case studies related to this topic. The framework consists of a general reference process for mobile work and of a model explaining influencing factors, optimization goals and their relationships for mobile processes. The framework can be applied for process modeling, simulation and optimization as well as for requirements analysis and return on investment calculations

Extended RFM logit model for churn prediction in the mobile gaming market

As markets are becoming increasingly saturated, many businesses are shifting their focus to customer retention. In their need to understand and predict future customer behavior, businesses across sectors are adopting data-driven business intelligence to deal with churn prediction. A good example of this approach to retention management is the mobile game industry. This business sector usually relies on a considerable amount of behavioral telemetry data that allows them to understand how users interact with games. This high-resolution information enables game companies to develop and adopt accurate models for detecting customers with a high attrition propensity. This paper focuses on building a churn prediction model for the mobile gaming market by utilizing logistic regression analysis in the extended recency, frequency and monetary (RFM) framework. The model relies on a large set of raw telemetry data that was transformed into interpretable game-independent features. Robust statistical measures and dominance analysis were applied in order to assess feature importance. Established features are used to develop a logistic model for churn prediction and to classify potential churners in a population of users, regardless of their lifetime

This research aims to analyze the level of technical efficiency level and its determinants in Indonesian mobile telecommunications industry during the period of 2008-2014. As a company engaged in providing services, the company should be as efficient as possible to be able to survive and continue his business activities. Inefficient companies will then make those companies out of business competition. To measure efficiency level, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is applied. The objects of research are the cellular operator companies in Indonesia. They are PT Telkomsel Tbk, PT XL Axiata Tbk, PT Indosat Tbk, PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk, and PT Bakrie Telecom Tbk. Variable inputs used are the number of employees and total assets, while the output variables used is total revenues. In this research, Technical efficiency level is a performance indicator used as dependent variable, while the independent variables such as: company size (Size), Tangibility, Liquidity, and Leverage. To estimate the determinant of Indonesian mobile telecommunications industry, the regression with Tobit model is applied. The results showed that PT Telkomsel Tbk has the highest average level of efficiency from 2008 – 2014, while PT Indosat Tbk has the lowest average level of efficiency from 2008 – 2014. Tobit regression shows that company Size and Leverage has negative influenceon efficiency. However, Tangibility and Liquidity has positive influence to efficiency

The connection of miscellaneous devices like portable phones, PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) to the internet with technologies like WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) and in further scope UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) makes it possible to access data and information time independent. Many business players want to participate at these new chances of the M-Commerce and therefore they encourage investments. If these investments should be profi table, a realistic contemplation of the market situation, the business models and the success-factors are absolutely necessary in the view of M-Commerce. In the master study of »telematics« one of the subjects is Mobile Commerce. In the lecture from Prof. Dr. Bernd Eylert the development of a business model with all steps was mediated. In the present work, the mediated knowledge was applied to a new camera supervision system for apartments. In cooperation with Dr. Reiner Krämer (T-Systems) the design, which two main focuses contains, was defi ned. First a market analysis should be done. Steps were the fi nding of competition products and its manufacturer, analysing the functions and compare the prices in the market. In the second part, a business model should be produced. Also the UMTS variation of the supervision system, the contemplation of the technical solution and the calculation of the business model were parts of this

Mobile payment refers to a payment method by which a consumer pays a bill for goods or services through a mobile terminal. mobile payment users can send payment instructions directly or indirectly to a bank financial enterprise via mobile devices or proximity sensing devices, thereby enabling currency payments and funds transfers. It realizes the integration of terminal equipment, Internet, application providers and financial institutions, and completes financial business such as currency payment. However, the adoption rates of this payment method are relatively low in Malaysia. This research aims to identify and explore key factors that affect the decision of whether to use mobile payments. Qualitative and quantitative research are the main methodology in this research. The well-established theories, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the theory of Perceived Risk, the Compass Acceptance Model for the analysis and evaluation of mobile service (CAM) are applied to investigate user acceptance of mobile payments. An empirical model for acceptance of mobile payment in Malaysia is established in this paper. Survey data from mobile payments users are used to test the proposed hypothesis and the model. The result of data analysis shows that Malaysian consumers’ perceptions of cost has no statistically significant relationship with attitude to adopt mobile payment. On the other hand, the factors of Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Subjective Norm and Consumer Trust play significant roles. The results of this study also have some practical implications for the spread and management of mobile payment industry in Malaysia and some suggestions are offered to mobile payment platform. At the end of this paper, the limitations and future research directions are listed. Article visualizations

Nowadays most customers need convenient service for themselves. Many businesses expand through online channel and there are a lot of money transfers between consumer to business, and business to business. The bank gives  the most important service to customers to transfer and deposit and withdraw the money. Internet banking is the very successful channel for the customer to save the time to do bank activities. Customers can check the transfer of the money in their mobile banking application instead of going to the bank and uploading the real time money in the bank book. Internet banking can give customers benefit to pay all their bills through the application instead of going to each of other service center. Therefore, this research has been conducted  to investigate factors influencing the customers use of internet banking in Bangkok, Thailand. It proposes to validate the integrated model among perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust, and intention to use. The data was collected by questionnaire. This research applied 300 respondents who live in Bangkok and have been experienced using internet banking by using a convenience sampling technique. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA( and Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used to verify the validity and reliability of the model and examine the influence among variables. The research results show that  perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and trust have directly significant influence on intention to use. Consequently, Internet banking was efficient and easy to use and gives customers good feedback on the application
