    Passivity and synchronization of coupled different dimensional delayed reaction-diffusion neural networks with dirichlet boundary conditions

    Two types of coupled different dimensional delayed reaction-diffusion neural network (CDDDRDNN) models without and with parametric uncertainties are analyzed in this paper. On the one hand, passivity and synchronization of the raised network model with certain parameters are studied through exploiting some inequality techniques and Lyapunov stability theory, and some adequate conditions are established. On the other hand, the problems of robust passivity and robust synchronization of CDDDRDNNs with parameter uncertainties are solved. Finally, two numerical examples are given to testify the effectiveness of the derived passivity and synchronization conditions

    Multiplex PI-Control for Consensus in Networks of Heterogeneous Linear Agents

    In this paper, we propose a multiplex proportional-integral approach, for solving consensus problems in networks of heterogeneous nodes dynamics affected by constant disturbances. The proportional and integral actions are deployed on two different layers across the network, each with its own topology. Sufficient conditions for convergence are derived that depend upon the structure of the network, the parameters characterizing the control layers and the node dynamics.     Distributed Adaptive Control for a Class of Heterogeneous Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems with Nonidentical Dimensions

    A novel feedback distributed adaptive control strategy based on radial basis neural network (RBFNN) is proposed for the consensus control of a class of leaderless heterogeneous nonlinear multi-agent systems with the same and different dimensions. The distributed control, which consists of a sequence of comparable matrices or vectors, can make that all the states of each agent to attain consensus dynamic behaviors are defined with similar parameters of each agent with nonidentical dimensions. The coupling weight adaptation laws and the feedback management of neural network weights ensure that all signals in the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, two simulation examples are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the suggested control design strategy

    Robust synchronization for 2-D discrete-time coupled dynamical networks

The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2012 IEEEIn this paper, a new synchronization problem is addressed for an array of 2-D coupled dynamical networks. The class of systems under investigation is described by the 2-D nonlinear state space model which is oriented from the well-known Fornasini–Marchesini second model. For such a new 2-D complex network model, both the network dynamics and the couplings evolve in two independent directions. A new synchronization concept is put forward to account for the phenomenon that the propagations of all 2-D dynamical networks are synchronized in two directions with influence from the coupling strength. The purpose of the problem addressed is to first derive sufficient conditions ensuring the global synchronization and then extend the obtained results to more general cases where the system matrices contain either the norm-bounded or the polytopic parameter uncertainties. An energy-like quadratic function is developed, together with the intensive use of the Kronecker product, to establish the easy-to-verify conditions under which the addressed 2-D complex network model achieves global synchronization.     Pinning dynamic systems of networks with Markovian switching couplings and controller-node set

    In this paper, we study pinning control problem of coupled dynamical systems with stochastically switching couplings and stochastically selected controller-node set. Here, the coupling matrices and the controller-node sets change with time, induced by a continuous-time Markovian chain. By constructing Lyapunov functions, we establish tractable sufficient conditions for exponentially stability of the coupled system. Two scenarios are considered here. First, we prove that if each subsystem in the switching system, i.e. with the fixed coupling, can be stabilized by the fixed pinning controller-node set, and in addition, the Markovian switching is sufficiently slow, then the time-varying dynamical system is stabilized. Second, in particular, for the problem of spatial pinning control of network with mobile agents, we conclude that if the system with the average coupling and pinning gains can be stabilized and the switching is sufficiently fast, the time-varying system is stabilized. Two numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the validity of these theoretical results, including a switching dynamical system between several stable sub-systems, and a dynamical system with mobile nodes and spatial pinning control towards the nodes when these nodes are being in a pre-designed region.Comment: 9 pages; 3 figure

    Synchronization and local convergence analysis of networks with dynamic diffusive coupling

    In this paper, we address the problem of achieving synchronization in networks of nonlinear units coupled by dynamic diffusive terms. We present two types of couplings consisting of a static linear term, corresponding to the diffusive coupling, and a dynamic term which can be either the integral or the derivative of the sum of the mismatches between the states of neighbouring agents. The resulting dynamic coupling strategy is a distributed proportional-integral (PI) or a proportional-derivative (PD) law that is shown to be effective in improving the network synchronization performance, for example, when the dynamics at nodes are nonidentical. We assess the stability of the network by extending the classical Master Stability Function approach to the case where the links are dynamic ones of PI/PD type. We validate our approach via a set of representative examples including networks of chaotic Lorenz and networks of nonlinear mechanical systems

    Synchronization Induced by Layer Mismatch in Multiplex Networks

    Heterogeneity among interacting units plays an important role in numerous biological and man-made complex systems. While the impacts of heterogeneity on synchronization, in terms of structural mismatch of the layers in multiplex networks, has been studied thoroughly, its influence on intralayer synchronization, in terms of parameter mismatch among the layers, has not been adequately investigated. Here, we study the intralayer synchrony in multiplex networks, where the layers are different from one other, due to parameter mismatch in their local dynamics. In such a multiplex network, the intralayer coupling strength for the emergence of intralayer synchronization decreases upon the introduction of impurity among the layers, which is caused by a parameter mismatch in their local dynamics. Furthermore, the area of occurrence of intralayer synchronization also widens with increasing mismatch. We analytically derive a condition under which the intralayer synchronous solution exists, and we even sustain its stability. We also prove that, in spite of the mismatch among the layers, all the layers of the multiplex network synchronize simultaneously. Our results indicate that a multiplex network with mismatched layers can induce synchrony more easily than a multiplex network with identical layers.Peer Reviewe
