    Simulation Model of Enhancing Performance of TCP/AQM Networks by Using Matlab

    Internet networks are becoming more crowded every day due to the rapid development of modern life, which causes an increase in the demand for data circulating on the Internet. This creates several problems, such as buffer overflow of intermediate routers, and packet loss and time delay in packet delivery. The solution to these problems is to use a TCP/AQM system. The simulation results showed that there were differences in performance between the different controllers used. The proposed methods were simulated along with the required conditions in nonlinear systems to determine the best performance. It was found that the use of optimization Department of Electro-mechanical Engineering, University of Technology - Iraq tools (GA, FL) with a controller could achieve the best performance. The simulation results demonstrated the ability of the proposed methods to control the behavior of the system. The controller systems were simulated using Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results showed that the performance was better with the use of GA-PIDC compared to both FL-PIDC and PIDC in terms of stability time, height, and overrun ratio for a network with a variable queue that was targeted for comparison. The results were: the bypass ratio was 0, 3.3 and 21.8 the settling time was 0.002, 0.055, and 0.135; and the rise time was 0.001, 0.004 and 0.008 for GA-PIDC, FL-PIDC and PIDC, respectively. These results made it possible to compare the three control techniques

    Fuzzy Logic Control and PID Controller for Brushless Permanent Magnetic Direct Current Motor: A Comparative Study

    Electrical machines based on permanent magnet material excitations have been applied in many sectors since they are distinguished by their high torque-to-size ratio and offer high efficiency. Brushless permanent magnetic direct current (BLPMDC) motors are one type of these machines. They are preferable over conventional DC motors. one of the main challengings of the BLPMDC motor drives is the inherited feature of nonlinearity. Therefore, a conventional PID controller would not be an efficient choice for the speed control of such motors. The object of this paper is to design an efficient speed control for the BLPMDC motor. The proposed controller is based on the Fuzzy logic technique. MATLAB/ Simulink has been employed to design and test the drive system. Simulations were carried out for three cases, the first without a controller, the other using conventional control, and the third using expert systems. The results proved the possibility of improving the engine's working performance using the control systems. They also proved that the adoption of expert systems is better than the traditional nonlinear systems. The simulation response shows that the Rise Time(tr) at PID equals 66.306ms, while it equals 19.530ms for the Fuzzy logic controller. Moreover, Overshoot for PID and Fuzzy logic controller are 6.989% and 1.531%, respectively. On the other hand, undershoot is equal to 1.788% and 11.924% for PID and Fuzzy logic controller, respectively

    Proportional-integral genetic algorithm controller for stability of TCP network

    The life development and increase the number of internet users imposed an increase in data circulating on the internet network and then make the network more congestion. As a result of all this, some problems arose such as time delay in packets delivery, loss of packets, and exceed the buffer capacity for the middle routers. To overcome those problems, transmission control protocol and active queue management (TCP/AQM) have been used. AQM is the main approach used to control congestion and overcome those problems to improve network performance. This work proposes to use the proportional-integral (PI) controller with a genetic algorithm (GA) as an active queue manager for routers of the Internet. The simulation results show a good performance for managing the congestion with using proportional-integral genetic algorithm (GA-PI) controller better than the PI controller

    A Comprehensive Survey on Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm and Its Applications

    Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a heuristic global optimization method, proposed originally by Kennedy and Eberhart in 1995. It is now one of the most commonly used optimization techniques. This survey presented a comprehensive investigation of PSO. On one hand, we provided advances with PSO, including its modifications (including quantum-behaved PSO, bare-bones PSO, chaotic PSO, and fuzzy PSO), population topology (as fully connected, von Neumann, ring, star, random, etc.), hybridization (with genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, Tabu search, artificial immune system, ant colony algorithm, artificial bee colony, differential evolution, harmonic search, and biogeography-based optimization), extensions (to multiobjective, constrained, discrete, and binary optimization), theoretical analysis (parameter selection and tuning, and convergence analysis), and parallel implementation (in multicore, multiprocessor, GPU, and cloud computing forms). On the other hand, we offered a survey on applications of PSO to the following eight fields: electrical and electronic engineering, automation control systems, communication theory, operations research, mechanical engineering, fuel and energy, medicine, chemistry, and biology. It is hoped that this survey would be beneficial for the researchers studying PSO algorithms

    Shortest Route at Dynamic Location with Node Combination-Dijkstra Algorithm

    Abstract— Online transportation has become a basic requirement of the general public in support of all activities to go to work, school or vacation to the sights. Public transportation services compete to provide the best service so that consumers feel comfortable using the services offered, so that all activities are noticed, one of them is the search for the shortest route in picking the buyer or delivering to the destination. Node Combination method can minimize memory usage and this methode is more optimal when compared to A* and Ant Colony in the shortest route search like Dijkstra algorithm, but can’t store the history node that has been passed. Therefore, using node combination algorithm is very good in searching the shortest distance is not the shortest route. This paper is structured to modify the node combination algorithm to solve the problem of finding the shortest route at the dynamic location obtained from the transport fleet by displaying the nodes that have the shortest distance and will be implemented in the geographic information system in the form of map to facilitate the use of the system.     Inspection and Monitoring of Structural Damage Using Vibration Signatures and Smart Techniques

    The structural damage detection plays an important role in the evaluation of structural systems and to ensure their safety. Structures like large bridges should be continuously monitored for detection of damage. The cracks usually change the physical parameters like stiffness and flexibility which in turn changes the dynamic properties such as natural frequencies and mode shapes. Crack detection of a beam element comprises of two aspects: the first one is the forward problem which is achieved from the Eigen parameters and the second one is the process to locate and quantify the effect of damage and is termed as ‘inverse process of damage detection’. In the present investigation the analytical and numerical methods are known as the forward problem includes determination of natural frequencies from the knowledge of beam geometry and crack dimension. The vibration signals are derived from the forward problem is exploited in the inverse problem. The natural frequency changes occur due to the various reasons such as boundary condition changes, temperature variations etc. Among all the changes boundary condition changes are the most important factors in structural elements. Many major structures like bridges are made up of uniform beams of unknown boundary conditions. So in the present investigation two of the boundary conditions i.e. fixed -free and fixed- fixed are considered. Using the forward solution method, the natural frequencies are determined. In the inverse solution method various Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques with their hybrid methods are proposed and implemented. Damage detection problems using Artificial Intelligence techniques require a number of training data sets that represent the uncracked and cracked scenarios of practical structural elements. In the second part of the work different AI techniques like Fuzzy Logic, Genetic Algorithm, Clonal Selection Algorithm, Differential Evolution Algorithm and their hybrid methods are designed and developed. In summary this investigation is a step towards to forecast the position of the damage using the Artificial Intelligence techniques and compare their results. Finally, the results from the Artificial Intelligence techniques and their hybridized algorithms are validated by doing experimental analysis
