    Get PDF
Facility layout problem is related to the location of departments in a facility area, with the aim of determining the most effective configuration. Researches based on different approaches have been published in the last six decades and, to prove the effectiveness of the results obtained, several instances have been developed. This paper presents a general overview on the extant literature on facility layout problems in order to identify the main research trends and propose future research questions. Firstly, in order to give the reader an overview of the literature, a bibliometric analysis is presented. Then, a clusterization of the papers referred to the main instances reported in literature was carried out in order to create a database that can be a useful tool in the benchmarking procedure for researchers that would approach this kind of problems

    Get PDF
Wireless Sensor Network is a network of wireless sensor nodes that are capable of sensing information from their surroundings and transmit the sensed information to data collection point known as a base station. Applications of wireless sensor networks are large in number and forest fire detection, landslide monitoring, etc. are few applications to note. The research challenges in wireless sensor networks is the transmission of data from the sensor node to the base station in an energy-efficient manner and network life prolongation. Cluster-based routing techniques are extensively adopted to address this research challenge. Researchers have used different metaheuristic and soft computing techniques for designing such energy-efficient routing techniques. In the literature, a lot of survey article on cluster-based routing methods are available, but there is no bibliometric analysis conducted so far. Hence in this research article, bibliometric study with the focus on the firefly algorithm and its applications in wireless sensor network is undertaken. The purpose of this article is to explore the nature of research conducted concerning to authors, the connection between keywords, the importance of journals and scope for further research in soft computing based clustered routing methods. A detailed bibliometric analysis is carried out by collecting the details of published articles from the Scopus database. In this article, the collected data is articulated in terms of yearly document statistics, key affiliations of authors, contributing geographical locations, subject area statistics, author-keyword mapping, and many more essential aspects of bibliometric analysis. The conducted study helped in understanding that there is a vast scope for the research community to perform research work concerning firefly algorithm applications in the field of wireless sensor networks

In this paper, Bibliometric survey has been carried out on Optimal Capacitor Placement from 1981 to 2021. Scopus database has been used for the analysis. There were total 909 documents found on the topic of Optimal Capacitor placement. The statistical analysis is carried out source-wise, year-wise, area-wise, Country-wise, University wise, author-wise, and based on funding agency. Network analysis is also carried out based on Co-authorship, Co-occurrence, Citation Analysis and Bibliographic coupling. Results are presented. During 2016, there were 77 documents published which is the highest. International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems of Elsevier has published 37 documents during the period of study which is highest under the category of sources. VOSviewer 1.6.16 is the software that is used for statistical analysis and network analysis on the database. It provides a very effective way to analyze the co-authorship, co-occurrences, citations and bibliometric couplings etc. The source for all Tables and figures is www.scopus.com, The data is assessed on 6th June, 2021

Artificial Intelligence as an Enabler of Quick and Effective Production Repurposing Manufactur-ing: An Exploratory Review and Future Research Propositions

    Get PDF
The outbreak of Covid-19 created disruptions in manufacturing operations. One of the most serious negative impacts is the shortage of critical medical supplies. Manufacturing firms faced pressure from governments to use their manufacturing capacity to repurpose their production for meeting the critical demand for necessary products. For this purpose, recent advancements in technology and artificial intelligence (AI) could act as response solutions to conquer the threats linked with repurposing manufacturing (RM). The study’s purpose is to investigate the significance of AI in RM through a systematic literature review (SLR). This study gathered around 453 articles from the SCOPUS database in the selected research field. Structural Topic Modeling (STM) was utilized to generate emerging research themes from the selected documents on AI in RM. In addition, to study the research trends in the field of AI in RM, a bibliometric analysis was undertaken using the R-package. The findings of the study showed that there is a vast scope for research in this area as the yearly global production of articles in this field is limited. However, it is an evolving field and many research collaborations were identified. The study proposes a comprehensive research framework and propositions for future research development

Applications of Genetic Algorithm and Its Variants in Rail Vehicle Systems: A Bibliometric Analysis and Comprehensive Review

    Get PDF
Railway systems are time-varying and complex systems with nonlinear behaviors that require effective optimization techniques to achieve optimal performance. Evolutionary algorithms methods have emerged as a popular optimization technique in recent years due to their ability to handle complex, multi-objective issues of such systems. In this context, genetic algorithm (GA) as one of the powerful optimization techniques has been extensively used in the railway sector, and applied to various problems such as scheduling, routing, forecasting, design, maintenance, and allocation. This paper presents a review of the applications of GAs and their variants in the railway domain together with bibliometric analysis. The paper covers highly cited and recent studies that have employed GAs in the railway sector and discuss the challenges and opportunities of using GAs in railway optimization problems. Meanwhile, the most popular hybrid GAs as the combination of GA and other evolutionary algorithms methods such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), ant colony optimization (ACO), neural network (NN), fuzzy-logic control, etc with their dedicated application in the railway domain are discussed too. More than 250 publications are listed and classified to provide a comprehensive analysis and road map for experts and researchers in the field helping them to identify research gaps and opportunities

OPTIMIZATION APPLIED TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND THERMAL COMFORT OF BUILDINGS: BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS ON TECHNIQUES AND APPLICATIONS

    Get PDF
The world's energy demand has raised concerns about supply difficulties, depletion of natural resources and environmental impacts such as destruction of ozone layer, global warming, climate change, among others. Recent studies indicate that energy consumption in buildings represents more than 40% of the world's energy consumption, with more than half of that attributed to air conditioning systems. Specific regulations and control strategies for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems should provide acceptable thermal comfort and reasonable indoor air quality. The evolution of researches in these areas can be evaluated by the organization of scientific production up to now. The objective of this study is to analyze quantitatively what was produced in terms of optimization associated to both energy savings and thermal comfort in buildings. This bibliometric analysis, based on Science Direct and IEEE Xplore databases, correlates common adopted terms to quantify how optimization, especially those associated to computational intelligence, are influencing building projects where thermal comfort and energy saving are taken into account. This research assumes a sample of 76 articles, and provided a statistical evaluation considering authors identification, and both articles and journals that were more cited by researchers in this area
