Spatiotemporal analysis of MODIS Vegetation Index Imagery widely used for vegetation seasonal mapping both on forest and agricultural site. In order to provide a long-terms of vegetation characteristic maps, a wide time-series images analysis is needed which require high-performance computer and also consumes a lot of energy resources. Meanwhile, for agriculture monitoring purpose in Indonesia, that analysis has to be employed gradually and endlessly to provide the latest condition of paddy field vegetation information. This research is aimed to develop a method to produce the optimized solution in classifying vegetation of paddy fields that diverse both spatial and temporal characteristics. The time-series EVI data from MODIS have been filtered using wavelet transform to reduce noise that caused by cloud. Sequential K-means and Parallel K-means unsupervised classification method were used in both CPU and GPU to find the efficient and the robust result. The developed method has been tested and implemented using the sample case of paddy fields in Java Island. The best system which can accommodate of the extend-ability, affordability, redundancy, energy-saving, maintainability indicators are ARM-based processor (Raspberry Pi), with the highest speed up of 8 and the efficiency of 60%

Reliability in the utilization of the Global Positioning System (GPS) data demands a higher degree of accuracy with respect to time and positional information required by the user. However, various extrinsic and intrinsic parameters disrupt the data transmission phenomenon from GPS satellite to GPS receiver which always questions the trustworthiness of such data. Therefore, this manuscript offers a comprehensive insight into the data preprocessing methodologies evolved and adopted by present-day researchers. The discussion is carried out with respect to standard methods of data cleaning as well as diversified existing research-based approaches. The review finds that irrespective of a good number of work carried out to address the problem of data cleaning, there are critical loopholes in almost all the existing studies. The paper extracts open end research problems as well as it also offers an evidential insight using use-cases where it is found that still there is a critical need to investigate data cleaning methods

Seoses hüppelise huvi kasvuga autonoomsete sõidukite vastu viimastel aastatel on suurenenud ka vajadus täpsemate ja töökindlamate objektituvastuse meetodite järele. Kuigi tänu konvolutsioonilistele närvivõrkudele on palju edu saavutatud 2D objektituvastuses, siis võrreldavate tulemuste saavutamine 3D maailmas on seni jäänud unistuseks. Põhjuseks on mitmesugused probleemid eri modaalsusega sensorite andmevoogude ühitamisel, samuti on 3D maailmas märgendatud andmestike loomine aeganõudvam ja kallim. Sõltumata sellest, kas kasutame objektide kauguse hindamiseks stereo kaamerat või lidarit, kaasnevad andmevoogude ühitamisega ajastusprobleemid, mis raskendavad selliste lahenduste kasutamist reaalajas. Lisaks on enamus olemasolevaid lahendusi eelkõige välja töötatud ja testitud linnakeskkonnas liikumiseks.Töös pakutakse välja meetod 3D objektituvastuseks, mis põhineb 2D objektituvastuse tulemuste (objekte ümbritsevad kastid või segmenteerimise maskid) projitseerimisel 3D punktipilve ning saadud punktipilve filtreerimisel klasterdamismeetoditega. Tulemusi võrreldakse lihtsa termokaamera piltide filtreerimisel põhineva lahendusega. Täiendavalt viiakse läbi põhjalikud eksperimendid parimate algoritmi parameetrite leidmiseks objektituvastuseks maastikul, saavutamaks suurimat võimalikku täpsust reaalajas.Since the boom in the industry of autonomous vehicles, the need for preciseenvironment perception and robust object detection methods has grown. While we are making progress with state-of-the-art in 2D object detection with approaches such as convolutional neural networks, the challenge remains in efficiently achieving the same level of performance in 3D. The reasons for this include limitations of fusing multi-modal data and the cost of labelling different modalities for training such networks. Whether we use a stereo camera to perceive scene’s ranging information or use time of flight ranging sensors such as LiDAR, the existing pipelines for object detection in point clouds have certain bottlenecks and latency issues which tend to affect the accuracy of detection in real time speed. Moreover, these existing methods are primarily implemented and tested over urban cityscapes. This thesis presents a fusion based approach for detecting objects in 3D by projecting the proposed 2D regions of interest (object’s bounding boxes) or masks (semantically segmented images) to point clouds and applies outlier filtering techniques to filter out target object points in projected regions of interest. Additionally, we compare it with human detection using thermal image thresholding and filtering. Lastly, we performed rigorous benchmarks over the off-road environments to identify potential bottlenecks and to find a combination of pipeline parameters that can maximize the accuracy and performance of real-time object detection in 3D point clouds

Background: Cloud Computing is increasingly booming in industry with many competing providers and services. Accordingly, evaluation of commercial Cloud services is necessary. However, the existing evaluation studies are relatively chaotic. There exists tremendous confusion and gap between practices and theory about Cloud services evaluation. Aim: To facilitate relieving the aforementioned chaos, this work aims to synthesize the existing evaluation implementations to outline the state-of-the-practice and also identify research opportunities in Cloud services evaluation. Method: Based on a conceptual evaluation model comprising six steps, the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was employed to collect relevant evidence to investigate the Cloud services evaluation step by step. Results: This SLR identified 82 relevant evaluation studies. The overall data collected from these studies essentially represent the current practical landscape of implementing Cloud services evaluation, and in turn can be reused to facilitate future evaluation work. Conclusions: Evaluation of commercial Cloud services has become a world-wide research topic. Some of the findings of this SLR identify several research gaps in the area of Cloud services evaluation (e.g., the Elasticity and Security evaluation of commercial Cloud services could be a long-term challenge), while some other findings suggest the trend of applying commercial Cloud services (e.g., compared with PaaS, IaaS seems more suitable for customers and is particularly important in industry). This SLR study itself also confirms some previous experiences and reveals new Evidence-Based Software Engineering (EBSE) lessons

Big data systems development is full of challenges in view of the variety of application areas and domains that this technology promises to serve. Typically, fundamental design decisions involved in big data systems design include choosing appropriate storage and computing infrastructures. In this age of heterogeneous systems that integrate different technologies for optimized solution to a specific real world problem, big data system are not an exception to any such rule. As far as the storage aspect of any big data system is concerned, the primary facet in this regard is a storage infrastructure and NoSQL seems to be the right technology that fulfills its requirements. However, every big data application has variable data characteristics and thus, the corresponding data fits into a different data model. This paper presents feature and use case analysis and comparison of the four main data models namely document oriented, key value, graph and wide column. Moreover, a feature analysis of 80 NoSQL solutions has been provided, elaborating on the criteria and points that a developer must consider while making a possible choice. Typically, big data storage needs to communicate with the execution engine and other processing and visualization technologies to create a comprehensive solution. This brings forth second facet of big data storage, big data file formats, into picture. The second half of the research paper compares the advantages, shortcomings and possible use cases of available big data file formats for Hadoop, which is the foundation for most big data computing technologies. Decentralized storage and blockchain are seen as the next generation of big data storage and its challenges and future prospects have also been discussed

As the world becomes more inter-connected and dependent on the Internet, networks become ever more pervasive, and the stresses placed upon them more demanding. Similarly, the expectations of networks to maintain a high level of performance have also increased. Network performance is highly important to any business that operates online, depends on web traffic, runs any part of their infrastructure in a cloud environment, or even hosts their own network infrastructure. Depending upon the exact nature of a network, whether it be local or wide-area, 10 or 100 Gigabit, it will have distinct performance characteristics and it is important for a business or individual operating on the network to understand those performance characteristics and how they affect operations. To better understand our networks, it is necessary that we test them to measure their performance capabilities and track these metrics over time. In our work, we provide an in-depth analysis of how best to run cloud benchmarks to increase our network intelligence and how we can use the results of those benchmarks to predict future performance and identify performance anomalies. To achieve this, we explain how to effectively run cloud benchmarks and propose a scheduling algorithm for running large numbers of cloud benchmarks daily. We then use the performance data gathered from this method to conduct a thorough analysis of the performance characteristics of a cloud network, train neural networks to forecast future throughput based on historical results and detect performance anomalies as they occur

A Survey From Distributed Machine Learning to Distributed Deep Learning

Artificial intelligence has achieved significant success in handling complex tasks in recent years. This success is due to advances in machine learning algorithms and hardware acceleration. In order to obtain more accurate results and solve more complex problems, algorithms must be trained with more data. This huge amount of data could be time-consuming to process and require a great deal of computation. This solution could be achieved by distributing the data and algorithm across several machines, which is known as distributed machine learning. There has been considerable effort put into distributed machine learning algorithms, and different methods have been proposed so far. In this article, we present a comprehensive summary of the current state-of-the-art in the field through the review of these algorithms. We divide this algorithms in classification and clustering (traditional machine learning), deep learning and deep reinforcement learning groups. Distributed deep learning has gained more attention in recent years and most of studies worked on this algorithms. As a result, most of the articles we discussed here belong to this category. Based on our investigation of algorithms, we highlight limitations that should be addressed in future research
