Executive Compensation Eligibility in Global Businesses: A Global Banding Approach
As corporations expand their geographic reach and executive talent moves across geographic borders as freely as capital, global compensation executives must keep pace. Ethnocentric, nationalistic and parochial HR systems and policies inherited from the past that are focused on a single country may actually be barriers to the establishment of effective global organizational processes. Leaving local units in various countries determine their own executive compensation philosophies and practices may be equally detrimental

In addition, the expert assessment method was used to assess the agility indicators of the following companies METRO Cash & Carry, Gloria Jeans and Gazprom. Procurement (timeliness and prices), supply management, product management, finished-product output and shipment management were assessed. The calculations showed that the multinational corporations METRO Cash & Carry, Gloria Jeans and Gazprom should continue to increase the agility of supply chain management and implement the SCM strategy, which will quickly address and mitigate supply chain disruptions. We also believe that the companies should adapt SCM in the organizational structure optimization in order to eliminate bottlenecks
Building a boundaryless manufacturing organisation through HITOP method
There is little empirical research to support the allegation that ‘leagile’
manufacturing organisations thrive in hostile environments, nor has it been
demonstrated that organisation processes (referred to as enablers) actually
support ‘leagile’ performance. This study tests the statistical significance of five
selected HITOP (highly integrated technology, organisation and people) ‘leagile’
enablers. This was accomplished by using a mail survey instrument to measure
the presence of ‘leagile enablers’ in a sample of companies taken from best
factory award winners in UK, US and Japan. [Continues.
Cultural differences and premium flexibility : the case of The Navigator Company
In a progressively digital and competitive world we live in, it is vital for the companies to objectively evaluate what competences (and not resources) bring them competitive and comparative advantage in the XXI century. Culture is a crucial resource at a country level since it shapes a nation’s character and society. This implies that individuals, who are absorbed by this influence, will transfer it for their organizations, transforming culture in a competence that can be a strong basis for achieving competitive advantage in international environments. In an international context, Portugal will struggle to be competitive in a world of top technology, scale economies and cheap labor of industrialized, emergent and developing countries, respectively. The premium flexibility theory attempts to explain the success of exporting Portuguese companies in B2B segments. Consequently, the main objective of this dissertation is to answer the research question: “How national culture effects competitive advantage on Portuguese companies?” For this purpose, a case study about The Navigator Company was performed in order to understand if the main national dimensions of the premium flexibility theory were verified in a real case context. It is also important to comprehend how do they influence the competitive advantage of The Navigator Company in the pulp sector. The outcomes of this study conclude that, premium flexibility does exist on the case of The Navigator Company, although with several limitations and modifications and that it positively contributes to a better and improved customization, agility of the processes and on a greater efficiency of the flow of information and products.

Unlocking the digital organization : a view of the digital transformation capabilities
Digital transformation is a complex process enabled by the application of digital technologies that fundamentally change the business model of organizations, altering their ways of capturing and generating value, their organizational processes, routines, sources of revenue, and resources. It is such a pressing phenomenon in the current context (accentuated by the COVID-19 pandemic) that all organizations will be impacted and will have to deal with it sooner or later. Thus, to understand the mechanisms that assist organizations in creating strategic conditions for successful transformations, this thesis focuses on the phenomenon and seeks a deep understanding of the elements that compose it. Through a comprehensive and robust work that mixes qualitative methods (such as systematic review and multiple case studies) with quantitative methods (such as EFA and PLS), the thesis presents significant and impactful results. Among them are (i) the proposition of a Digital Transformation Dynamic Capability framework and (ii) a subsequent capability-based maturity model, and (iii) the proposition of a model (statistically tested in SMEs) about the framework's antecedent factors. A distinct point of this theoretical proposition is the use of dynamic capabilities lens for the framework organization - allowing the understanding of the phenomenon as a process to be continuously pursued. Thus, the main contributions lie in a comprehensive and original approach that can guide organizations to articulate and develop the conditions to unlock the capability to digitally transform their business model - which can lead to a capacity for continuous change in the digital context. Furthermore, it offers robust and timely research whose models condense a knowledge corpus from which future research can benefit

Abstract. Todays, with the increasing competition in the production and sale of diverse products on the market and the increasing organizations efforts to produce value for customers and consumers, the selection of competitive advantages in business is very important.
