Ave Defamation, Atque Vale Libel and Slander

Two recent decisions by the Maryland Court of Appeals have brought about substantial changes in the law of libel and slander. The author considers the consequences of these decisions, welcoming the abolition of certain distinctions between written and spoken defamation as well as the adoption of new rules pertaining to recoverable damages. The author, however, expresses reservations as to pronouncements in the decisions that purport to impose new burdens on the plaintiff to establish liability

CIL XIII 2058: Ecos de Virgilio y Catulo en un breve epitafio galo

El trabajo reflexiona sobre un breve epitafio galo que ha sido clasificado como métrico a partir de ciertas resonancias de versos de Virgilio y Catulo que relatan contextos similares. Incluye una edición actualizada, un comentario filológico, un análisis detallado de los mencionados ecos literarios y finalmente algunas reflexiones sobre la pervivencia de determinados versos, bien en forma de citas literales, bien formando parte del catálogo de los loci similes.This study is devoted to a short Gallic epitaph that has been classified as metrical due to certain resonances from verses by Virgil and Catullus that revolve around similar contexts. The paper includes an updated edition, a philological commentary, and a detailed analysis of the mentioned literary echoes. Finally, it adds some observations on the continued existence of certain verses, either as literary quotes, or as a part of the catalogue of the loci similes.Junta de Andalucía HUM15
