    StyleCheck: An Automated Stylistic Analysis Tool

    StyleCheck is a user-friendly tool with multiple functions designed to aid in the production of quality writing. Its features include stylistic analysis (on both document-wide and individual-sentence scales) and spelling and grammar check, as well as generating suggested replacements for all types of errors. In addition, StyleCheck includes the capability to identify the famous author (out of a limited corpus) with the style most similar to the user\u27s.     How English learners master and use vocabulary in writing is not only an important criterion for their English writing, but also a crucial aspect to show their ability to express in English. Moreover, the use of English vocabulary in their writing can further represent how well they learn English vocabulary. However, it can also reflect some existing faults in the vocabulary teaching and learning. How to improve vocabulary teaching and how to help learners use words effectively are the main problems to deal with during vocabulary teaching. This paper tries to do an empirical investigation, helping both teachers and language learners locate the difficult points in the target language and get prepared to acquire the language in a more oriented way. This study is carried out by collecting 68 compositions written by non-English majors. The errors are classified into three categories: local syntactic errors, global syntactic errors and semantic errors. As required, each category is further divided according to different criterions. Major causes are offered by illustration. Finally, some suggestions on vocabulary teaching are offered

    The Use of Grammarly in the Academic Writing of Undergraduate Students: Advantages, Weaknesses, and Challenges (Systematic Review)

    The fact that "Grammarly" is one of the available online grammar checkers has had a quick influence on technological development. The purpose of this study was to examine the benefits, drawbacks, and difficulties of utilizing Grammarly in an academic writing course. This study used qualitative library research. The data was collected from 10 relevant articles on Google Scholar with the keyword "Grammarly, Academic Writing, and undergraduate students". The main issues addressed in this study were the benefits, weaknesses, and challenges of Grammarly in the period from 2019 to 2023 The result showed that there were six categories of advantages in using Grammarly, they were to check correctness, clarity, engagement, delivery, plagiarism, and convenience. On the contrary, the weaknesses of Grammarly were it could not be accessed without an internet connection; it needed stability of electricity and an internet connection, it needed high-speed internet connectivity to access the complete feature; it was ineffective to use Grammarly in another connected platform; it was incomplete service of free version, while it needed to pay to access the premium one; and it could not identify some proer noun.  In conclusion, applying Grammarly is recommended because it enhanced students’ writing skills for students at university, especially in Academic Writing Course

    Accurate use of grammar and writing is an essential aspect of any writing. Today various online grammar spelling checker tools are available for improving writing quality. The popularity of these platforms is increasing among researchers and academicians every day. Aim of the present study is to know the opinion, use and satisfaction level among the users of Grammarly - online grammar and spelling checker tool subscribed by the Health Science Library, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal. Structured questionnaires were distributed among the registered users of Grammarly tool at the Health Sciences Library. The study observed that almost all the users were aware that the Health Science Library is subscribing to Grammarly tool. More than half of the users used this tool because of the limitation of Microsoft word as found in the study. It is also found from the study that the majority of the respondents who participated in the study were using Grammarly for Microsoft Office. The study also observed that users are using Grammarly tool for different purposes like writing research papers, dissertations, theses, books, reports, and course papers. From the present study, it is also observed that most important advantages of Grammarly are - it improves the writing skills, catches contextual spelling and grammar mistakes, integrates with Microsoft Office, shows definitions and synonyms via double-clicks.     Exploring Artificial Intelligence using Automated Writing Evaluation for Writing Skills

    This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of AI software which is Automated Writing Evaluation (AWE) in detecting grammatical errors in improving writing skills among Malaysian public university students and examine their perceptions of AI software in improving writing skills. The findings of this study show the positive perceptions of students towards the implementation of AWE. The study provided implications for the effective use of AI software (AWE) in ESL writing classrooms. Finally, future researchers are expected to conduct research on a similar topic to enhance the impact and significance of this study.
