    The CINeSPACE (www.cinespace.eu) project allows tourists to access the rich cultural heritage of urban environments by literally morphing the user into the past through the use of multimedia archives. Tourists use the device which includes both a PDA type of device with a GIS interface displayed on a touch screen to help the user navigate and select multimedia content, and video binoculars to create the augmented reality effects. In addition to this mode of interaction, a survey of Mixed Reality user interaction paradigms will be presented.     The principal purpose of this paper is to examine which research approaches are best suited for determining the requirements of the next generation of interactive interpretation support systems for cultural heritage site. We are optimistic that such systems if properly designed to exploit the potential of advanced information and communication technologies (ICTs), can not only meet, but even exceed visitor-user expectations. The research framework proposed to achieve this ideal integrates insights from both Interpretive Archaeology and interpretive IS research. We call the application of ICT’s in systems for communicating cultural heritage information “e-Heritage Systems or e-HS. We define “Interpretive Archaeology Systems”(IAS) as a subclass of e-HS, the design of which is informed by hermeneutics and phenomenology, Therefore, the principal purpose of the paper is to promote a shift from e-HS to IAS.     Development of 2-D augmented reality integrated physics e-book to improve students’ problem-solving skills

    This study aims to produce an augmented reality integrated e-book that is feasible to improve the problem solving skills for 11th graders; identify the improvement of 11th graders’ problem solving skills after using the augmented reality integrated e-book. Problem-solving as a way of obtaining solutions to difficulties is divided into four indicators, which are: understanding the problem, making plans, implementing plans, and reviewing solutions. Data collection techniques consist of tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation using instruments that support the Research and Development (R&D) technique with a 4D model. Research subjects were selected by simple random sampling with 34 students of 11th graders. In this study, questionnaires were used for validation, observations were made to determine the condition of students, and documentation was used as evidence in conducting research. The data were analyzed quantitatively based on the results of the validation and analysis of pretest and posttest items. The results showed that the augmented reality integrated e-book is feasible to use based on the results of validation using average value conducted by a very high category validator and the validation value obtained is 3.79. The improvement of problem solving skills was analyzed using Normalized Gain and the improvement of problem solving skills got a score of 0.8 in the high category

    Abstract. This paper presents part of the results of a larger research project that focused on the surveying and documenting of Roman theatres and amphitheatres in the Campania region as well as the testing of a virtual fruition system for the digital reconstruction of a case study: the Roman theatre of Benevento. The work was carried out by the research group at the Interdepartmental Urban/Eco Research Centre of the University of Naples Federico II in collaboration with Spinvector, a company specialized in ICT – Information and Communication Technology – which lead to the defining of a fruition system of Cultural Heritage applied to archaeological heritage.The project included 3D digital surveys of the study samples carried out using reality-based techniques, which allowed for the acquisition of metric, morphological, geometric and colorimetric data. This made it possible to elaborate three-dimensional models, based on the current configuration of the places as well as of the possible original reconfigurations.</p
