There are many augmented reality (AR) applications available that can be used to create educational contents for these mobile devices. This paper surveys the most popular augmented reality applications and we select AR eco-systems to be used in daily teaching activities which are user friendly, do not require programming skills and are free. Different augmented reality technologies are explored in this paper to create teaching activities with animations, videos and other information to be shown on top of interactive documents. It is presented the creation of a novel augmented reality book that was developed with teachers and students. Several examples are also presented that are used in educational activities, from kindergarten to elementary and secondary schools, to improve reading, comprehension and learning of music.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Augmented Reality-Based Mobile Application for Knowledge Transferring in The System of Rice Intensification

Currently, the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) is one method that can be applied and used to produce seeds of local rice species in highland areas. However, it can currently be seen that the traditional methods to transfer knowledge about SRI from the experts still have limitations in many aspects due to the number of farmers that have experienced success still being low. Some farmers do not have their own fields and it takes a period for farmers to test the rice growing. Currently, mobile devices are widely used in peoples’ lives. Many scholars focus on the application of mobile devices and the augmented reality (AR) technology for the simulation games in many issues while the use of AR-based mobile applications as the learning tools is not widespread. There-fore, in this study, we propose the development of an application on mobile devices with augmented reality technology in order to use it as media in sharing knowledge related to the methods of the System of Rice Intensification by virtual farms simulation. To examine the efficiency of this developed application. A total amount of participants were 512 farmers from 5 regions of Thailand. The experimental results demonstrated that the newly developed AR-based mobile application is effective for improved knowledge on the participants who used the developed application and it can help them to practice their SRI farming skill in the virtual farm simulation. This indicates that the developed AR-based mobile application is the benefits tool for the new knowledge transferring meth-od in the system of rice intensification. For future work, it is necessary to evaluate the farmer success after learning from this AR-based mobile application in order to study the impact of the new method of SRI knowledge transferring. New pedagogical methods delivered through mobile mixed reality (via a user-supplied mobile phone incorporating 3d printing and augmented reality) are becoming possible in distance education, shifting pedagogy from 2D images, words and videos to interactive simulations and immersive mobile skill training environments. This paper presents insights from the implementation and testing of a mobile mixed reality intervention in an Australian distance paramedic science classroom. The context of this mobile simulation study is skills acquisition in airways management focusing on direct laryngoscopy with foreign body removal. The intervention aims to assist distance education learners in practicing skills prior to attending mandatory residential schools and helps build a baseline equality between those students that study face to face and those at a distance. Outcomes from the pilot study showed improvements in several key performance indicators in the distance learners, but also demonstrated problems to overcome in the pedagogical method

Using the Proteus virtual environment to train future IT professionals

Abstract. Based on literature review it was established that the use of augmented reality as an innovative technology of student training occurs in following directions: 3D image rendering; recognition and marking of real objects; interaction of a virtual object with a person in real time. The main advantages of using AR and VR in the educational process are highlighted: clarity, ability to simulate processes and phenomena, integration of educational disciplines, building an open education system, increasing motivation for learning, etc. It has been found that in the field of physical process modelling the Proteus Physics Laboratory is a popular example of augmented reality. Using the Proteus environment allows to visualize the functioning of the functional nodes of the computing system at the micro level. This is especially important for programming systems with limited resources, such as microcontrollers in the process of training future IT professionals. Experiment took place at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University and Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko with students majoring in Computer Science (field of knowledge is Secondary Education (Informatics)). It was found that computer modelling has a positive effect on mastering the basics of microelectronics. The ways of further scientific researches for grounding, development and experimental verification of forms, methods and augmented reality, and can be used in the professional training of future IT specialists are outlined in the article

Teaching Cultural Heritage using Mobile Augmented Reality

open2noThe relationship between augmented reality, mobile learning, gamification and non-formal education methods provide a great potential. The AR-CIMUVE Augmented Reality for the Walled Cities of the Veneto is an original project in collaboration with Italia Nostra and other associations which deal with transmitting our cultural heritage and which teach primary and middle school children the cultural and historical importance of the Veneto’s and the surrounding territories’ walled cities. In this learning experience students will explore how our environment has developed across the ages using the mobile devices with the technical back-up of the AR App. This will allow them to see maps, examine data, 3D models and will enable them to judge and improve their skills. From a pedagogical and educational point of view the emphasis is on a constructivist social-cultural approach which helps students to become active citizens more aware of their historical identity.openPetrucco, Corrado; Agostini, DanielePetrucco, Corrado; Agostini, Daniel
