A Model of an E-Learning Web Site for Teaching and Evaluating Online
This research is endeavoring to design an e-learning web site on the internet
having the course name as "Object Oriented Programming" (OOP) for the students
of level four at Computer Science Department (CSD). This course is to be taught
online (through web) and then a programme is to be designed to evaluate
students performance electronically while introducing a comparison between
online teaching , e-evaluation and traditional methods of evaluation. The
research seeks to lay out a futuristic perception that how the future online
teaching and e-electronic evaluation should be the matter which highlights the
importance of this research

Moodle for Italian Astronomy Olympiad
Italian Astronomy Olympiads are organized by Societ\`a Italiana di Astronomia in collaboration with Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF) and they are included in the MIUR's upgrading program for educational excellence. The Presidency of the National Olympic Committee based at Osservatorio Astronomico di Brera (INAF). Olympiads are aimed to italian high school students: the winners of the national stage participate to International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO). IAO officially born in 1996 at the initiative of Euro-Asian Astronomical Society. They are held every year in autumn, in a different country, and they see the regular participation of over twenty national teams of the European and Asian area, including Italy. Today the didactical support is limited to the little material provided by Italian Committee on the italian official site. In order to supply this lack, we projected a didatcical platform, developed with Moodle, that it could propose astronomical learning pages like glossary's voices and a lot of exercises about every subject
Future internet enablers for VGI applications
This paper presents the authors experiences with the development of mobile Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) applications in the context of the ENVIROFI project and Future Internet Public Private Partnership (FI-PPP) FP7 research programme.FI-PPP has an ambitious goal of developing a set of Generic FI Enablers (GEs) - software and hardware tools that will simplify development of thematic future internet applications. Our role in the programme was to provide requirements and assess the usability of the GEs from the point of view of the environmental usage area, In addition, we specified and developed three proof of concept implementations of environmental FI applications, and a set of specific environmental enablers (SEs) complementing the functionality offered by GEs. Rather than trying to rebuild the whole infrastructure of the Environmental Information Space (EIS), we concentrated on two aspects: (1) how to assure the existing and future EIS services and applications can be integrated and reused in FI context; and (2) how to profit from the GEs in future environmental applications.This paper concentrates on the GEs and SEs which were used in two of the ENVIROFI pilots which are representative for the emerging class of Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) use-cases: one of them is pertinent to biodiversity and another to influence of weather and airborne pollution on usersâ wellbeing. In VGI applications, the EIS and SensorWeb overlap with the Social web and potentially huge amounts of information from mobile citizens needs to be assessed and fused with the observations from official sources. On the whole, the authors are confident that the FI-PPP programme will greatly influence the EIS, but the paper also warns of the shortcomings in the current GE implementations and provides recommendations for further developments
Service-Oriented Architecture for Space Exploration Robotic Rover Systems
Currently, industrial sectors are transforming their business processes into
e-services and component-based architectures to build flexible, robust, and
scalable systems, and reduce integration-related maintenance and development
costs. Robotics is yet another promising and fast-growing industry that deals
with the creation of machines that operate in an autonomous fashion and serve
for various applications including space exploration, weaponry, laboratory
research, and manufacturing. It is in space exploration that the most common
type of robots is the planetary rover which moves across the surface of a
planet and conducts a thorough geological study of the celestial surface. This
type of rover system is still ad-hoc in that it incorporates its software into
its core hardware making the whole system cohesive, tightly-coupled, more
susceptible to shortcomings, less flexible, hard to be scaled and maintained,
and impossible to be adapted to other purposes. This paper proposes a
service-oriented architecture for space exploration robotic rover systems made
out of loosely-coupled and distributed web services. The proposed architecture
consists of three elementary tiers: the client tier that corresponds to the
actual rover; the server tier that corresponds to the web services; and the
middleware tier that corresponds to an Enterprise Service Bus which promotes
interoperability between the interconnected entities. The niche of this
architecture is that rover's software components are decoupled and isolated
from the rover's body and possibly deployed at a distant location. A
service-oriented architecture promotes integrate-ability, scalability,
reusability, maintainability, and interoperability for client-to-server

Smart-entrepreneurship education in training of the hotel business specialists
The article is devoted to the problems of introducing the SMART-education technology in the training and development of personnel of hotel complexes and business activities in the field of hotel business. The methodological and organizational bases for the application of SMART-education in staff training were identified; the leading qualitative features and development trends of this type of entrepreneurial educational activity were outlined. The principles of SMART-education of staff in the field of hotel business and its applied features in the service sector were developed. A model of SMART- education of hotel complex staff was developed based on solving case problems and practical mastering of professional content
Information Technology Applications in Hospitality and Tourism: A Review of Publications from 2005 to 2007
The tourism and hospitality industries have widely adopted information
technology (IT) to reduce costs, enhance operational efficiency, and most importantly to
improve service quality and customer experience. This article offers a comprehensive review of
articles that were published in 57 tourism and hospitality research journals from 2005 to 2007.
Grouping the findings into the categories of consumers, technologies, and suppliers, the article
sheds light on the evolution of IT applications in the tourism and hospitality industries. The
article demonstrates that IT is increasingly becoming critical for the competitive operations of
the tourism and hospitality organizations as well as for managing the distribution and
marketing of organizations on a global scale
