Hybrid Parameter Optimization Approach with Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System for the Software Maintainability

    Get PDF
This paper presents a novel method to measure the maintainability of the software from the design artifact. It is an inevitable measure because it aims to attain software with a better quality. The system is designed to measure the maintainability of the system from the UML class metric. This is extracted from the UML class diagram to predict the maintainability of the class diagram. The system is implemented using CFS from the Weka tool to select an optimized variable from a set of variables i.e UML class metric. Hybrid ANFIS is an artificial intelligence technique which has been incorporated with the optimizing algorithms to reduce the overall number of UML metric and build a Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) based on the learning process. The optimization attains an enhanced result since it is done continually by both using feature selection and optimization algorithms repetitively, which results in reducing the UML metric considerably to measure the maintainability of the software. The proposed research work is evaluated in terms of the performance measures, MSE, RMSE, true positive rates and the result is clearly shown that a better optimization of the maintainability measure estimation process can be done

Issues in Planning Domain Model Engineering

The paper raises some issues relating to the engineering of domain models for automated planning. It studies the idea of a domain model as a formal specification of a domain, and considers properties of that specification. It proposes some definitions, which the planning and, more generally, the artificial intelligence community needs to consider, in order to properly deal with engineering issues in domain model creation

Automated Service Identification Methods: A Review

Service identification represents the first phase in service modelling, a necessary step in SOA. This research study reviewed and analyzed the issues related to automation issues of service identification. However, the importance of service identification methods’ (SIM) automation and their business alignment are emphasized in literature, reviewing existing service identification methods (SIMs) reveals the lack of business alignment, automation as challenging issues. We close the gap by proposing ASIF which relies on automating the SIMs’ steps to identify business aligned services based on business processes and business goals

Software Measurement Activities in Small and Medium Enterprises: an Empirical Assessment

    Get PDF
An empirical study for evaluating the proper implementation of measurement/metric programs in software companies in one area of Turkey is presented. The research questions are discussed and validated with the help of senior software managers (more than 15 years’ experience) and then used for interviewing a variety of medium and small scale software companies in Ankara. Observations show that there is a common reluctance/lack of interest in utilizing measurements/metrics despite the fact that they are well known in the industry. A side product of this research is that internationally recognized standards such as ISO and CMMI are pursued if they are a part of project/job requirements; without these requirements, introducing those standards to the companies remains as a long-term target to increase quality
