    Get PDF
The field of artificial intelligence is currently experiencing relentless growth, with innumerable models emerging in the research and development phases across various fields, including science, finance, and engineering. In this work, the authors review a large number of learning techniques aimed at project management. The analysis is largely focused on hybrid systems, which present computational models of blended learning techniques. At present, these models are at a very early stage and major efforts in terms of development is required within the scientific community. In addition, we provide a classification of all the areas within project management and the learning techniques that are used in each, presenting a brief study of the different artificial intelligence techniques used today and the areas of project management in which agents are being applied. This work should serve as a starting point for researchers who wish to work in the exciting world of artificial intelligence in relation to project leadership and management

A Comprehensive Survey on Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm and Its Applications

    Get PDF
Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a heuristic global optimization method, proposed originally by Kennedy and Eberhart in 1995. It is now one of the most commonly used optimization techniques. This survey presented a comprehensive investigation of PSO. On one hand, we provided advances with PSO, including its modifications (including quantum-behaved PSO, bare-bones PSO, chaotic PSO, and fuzzy PSO), population topology (as fully connected, von Neumann, ring, star, random, etc.), hybridization (with genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, Tabu search, artificial immune system, ant colony algorithm, artificial bee colony, differential evolution, harmonic search, and biogeography-based optimization), extensions (to multiobjective, constrained, discrete, and binary optimization), theoretical analysis (parameter selection and tuning, and convergence analysis), and parallel implementation (in multicore, multiprocessor, GPU, and cloud computing forms). On the other hand, we offered a survey on applications of PSO to the following eight fields: electrical and electronic engineering, automation control systems, communication theory, operations research, mechanical engineering, fuel and energy, medicine, chemistry, and biology. It is hoped that this survey would be beneficial for the researchers studying PSO algorithms

Interpreting Housing Prices with a MultidisciplinaryApproach Based on Nature-Inspired Algorithms and Quantum Computing

Current technology still does not allow the use of quantum computers for broader and individual uses; however, it is possible to simulate some of its potentialities through quantum computing. Quantum computing can be integrated with nature-inspired algorithms to innovatively analyze the dynamics of the real estate market or any other economic phenomenon. With this main aim, this study implements a multidisciplinary approach based on the integration of quantum computing and genetic algorithms to interpret housing prices. Starting from the principles of quantum programming, the work applies genetic algorithms for the marginal price determination of relevant real estate characteristics for a particular segment of Naples’ real estate market. These marginal prices constitute the quantum program inputs to provide, as results, the purchase probabilities corresponding to each real estate characteristic considered. The other main outcomes of this study consist of a comparison of the optimal quantities for each real estate characteristic as determined by the quantum program and the average amounts of the same characteristics but relative to the real estate data sampled, as well as the weights of the same characteristics obtained with the implementation of genetic algorithms. With respect to the current state of the art, this study is among the first regarding the application of quantum computing to interpretation of selling prices in local real estate markets

Ship Lock Control System Optimization using GA, PSO and ABC: A Comparative Review

This paper presents the comparison of some well-known global optimization techniques in optimization of an expert system controlling a ship locking process. The purpose of the comparison is to find the best algorithm for optimization of membership function parameters of fuzzy expert system for the ship lock control. Optimization was conducted in order to achieve better results in local distribution of ship arrivals, i.e. shorter waiting times for ships and less empty lockages. Particle swarm optimization, artificial bee colony optimization and genetic algorithm were compared. The results shown in this paper confirmed that all these procedures show similar results and provide overall improvement of ship lock operation performance, which speaks in favour of their application in similar transportation problem optimization

A Real Time Video Summarization for YouTube Videos and Evaluation of Computational Algorithms for their Time and Storage Reduction

Theaim of creating video summarization is for gathering huge video data and makes important points to be highlighted. Focus of this view is to avail the complete content of data for any particular video can be easy and clarity of indexing video. In recent days people use internet to surf and watch videos, images, play games, shows and many more activities. But it is highly impossible to go through each and every show or video because it can consume more time and data. Instead, providing highlights of any such shows or game videos then it will be helpful to go through and decide about that video. Also we can provide trailer part of any news/movie videos which can yield to make judgement of those incidents. We propose an interesting principle for highlighting videos mostly they can be online. These online videos can be shortened and summarized the huge video into smaller parts. In order to achieve this we use feature extracting algorithms called the gradient and optical flow histograms (HOG & HOF). In order to enhance the efficiency of the method several optimization techniques are also being implemented

QUORUM SENSING BASED BACTERIAL SWARM OPTIMIZATION ON TEST BENCHMARK FUNCTIONS

The Bacterial swarm optimization is one of the latest optimization technique mainly inspired from the swarm of bacteria. This paper introduces an intelligent Quorum sensing based Bacterial Swarm Optimization (QBSO) technique for testing and validation. The quorum sensing senses the best position of the bacteria by knowing the worst place in search space. By knowing these positions, the best optimal solution is attained. Here in this proposed QBSO algorithm the exploration capability of the bacteria is well improved. The proposed technique is validated on the seven standard benchmark with unimodal and multimodal test function for its feasibility and optimality. The basic swarm based optimization algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization, Ant Colony Optimization, Biogeography Based Optimization, Simulated Bee Colony and conventional Bacterial Swarm Optimization with the standard parameters are simulated and associated with the proposed technique. The attained results evidently indicate that the proposed method outperforms from the considered optimization methods. Further, the proposed technique may apply to any engineering problems, especially for complex real time optimization problems
