    Exploring Consumers’ Intention to Urge to Buy in Mobile Commerce: The Perspective of Pleasure-Arousal-Dominance

    Mobile services have gradually transformed and broadened, and are still being developed, bringing users more convenience, ubiquity, universality, and diversification. The mobility and ubiquity of smartphones increase users’ perception of convenience, which can induce online purchases. Consumers can browse webpages on a smartphone find interesting products anywhere and anytime. They may impulsively decide to buy these products or conduct instant chats with friends to obtain product information or recommendations. It is important that we examine users’ emotions when shopping via mobile devices, now that m-commerce is gradually being accepted and used, by investigating factors such as customers’ perceptions of value, immersion, commitment, and pleasure. So, this study investigates consumers’ urge to buy and browsing activities in m-commerce from the emotional perceptive. Findings derived from data analysis of 578 records collected from the online survey. First, the relationship of pleasure, dominance and arousal on urge to buy is demonstrated in m-commerce. Second, results show that pleasure and browsing activities are critical to inducing consumers’ impulsive purchase intention in m-commerce. The total effect of pleasure on the urge to buy is close to 50%. The influence of pleasure on browsing activities is almost twice that of the urge to buy. Third, effects of web atmospherics and mobile characteristics are distinct. Web atmospherics tend to influence consumers’ perceived dominance of mobile websites, thus increasing their perceived control over the interaction process. Mobile characteristics are less important to arousal and dominance. The most popular characteristics of smartphones for consumers and vendors, ubiquity and localization, do not increase consumers’ perceived dominance and arousal towards mobile websites.     Evaluating mobile health applications as digital therapeutical products

    The emergence of new technological advancements and the unprecedented expansion of mobile phone usage has led to the exponential growth of Mobile Health Applications (mHealth apps) development and implementation in the global markets. mHealth apps have created innovative channels to diagnose, treat, monitor, and engage with patients in various healthcare settings, and therefore, it is an important exploration in the fields of information technology, healthcare, and cognitive behavioural sciences. However, a significant portion of mHealth apps has been identified to be developed without scientific or clinical evidence. The objective of implementing the proposed “mHealth App Evaluation Tool” and its validation of the perceived usefulness of the tool from clinicians, mHealth app developers and end-users is to provide a solution for addressing the current gap in evaluating the efficacy of unregulated mHealth apps. An extensive review of the literature from 2010 to 2022 was conducted in three separate phases, gathering and synthesising the core concepts of the mHealth app landscape, proposed frameworks and parameters, the evolution and construction of unidimensional and multidimensional scales and the use of multi-stakeholder participation for a holistic evaluation process. The proposed mHealth app evaluation tool was developed on the foundation of six design drivers: modifiability, scalability, multi-stakeholder involvement, simultaneous management of multiple evaluation projects, ease of use and accessibility. The development of the tool utilised the RestFul API pattern, leveraging Laravel PHP and Vue.js frameworks. The data collection process was completed in two separate phases. The first phase involved the data obtained from the participant’s evaluation of the WYSA app using the proposed mHealth App Evaluation Tool. The system auto-generated an associated average score out of 5 against each evaluation. The second phase involved the data collection during the 30 minutes interview session. Due to the ever-changing nature of software applications, it is inevitable that the elements of mHealth app evaluation will continue to evolve and change over time. What is deemed to be necessary and critical in evaluating mHealth apps today may not be so in years to come. The mHealth App Evaluation tool addresses the need for future criteria modifications, scalability, and the necessity to obtain expert knowledge from multiple stakeholders for a holistic mHealth app evaluation

    The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships and effects of information, interaction and design qualities of travel and tour websites on Malaysian tourists’ usage satisfaction. This study adopted a convenience sampling method, employing self‐administered online questionnaire approach targeting Malaysian tourists who have used any travel and tour websites. The 200 samples obtained were analyzed using multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 26. Information and interaction qualities of travel and tour websites were found to be significant factors to tourists’ usage satisfaction. Future studies could investigate the rural population in Malaysia as access and coverage to technology may be limited

    The extent of Kuwaiti Islamic banks restrict the use of Islamic financing tools in their financial operations: a field study

    This research aims to identify the extent to of Kuwaiti Islamic banks adhere to the use of Islamic financing tools in their financial operations. The study population consists of all (5) banks listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange. As for the study sample, (100) respondents were selected from Financial managers, accountants, and workers in finance and investment departments work in these banks. The questionnaire was used as a tool for collecting primary data. The results showed that Kuwaiti Islamic banks adhere to the use of Islamic financing tools represented in Murabaha, Musharaka and Mudaraba in their financial operations to a high degree. The study recommended that Kuwaiti Islamic banks should be encouraged to play a more role in Murabaha operations and find appropriate solutions to technical obstacles and culture-related procedures that prevent the provision of Islamic financing through Murabaha

    Closing the loops of fast-moving consumer goods

    The Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs) sector aspires to transition to a Circular Economy (CE) but there is a lack of knowledge and support methods. This research has investigated how material resources flow in FMCG systems and developed new design support for the sector. Initially, the research focused on the moment when resources become obsolete which can disrupt flows. Consumers were found to have critical roles to ensure resource revalorisation and the findings of this study can inform the design of future revalorisation services. Further, it explored Product-Service Systems (PSSs) and studied the elements that could help overcome obsolescence and enable closed loops resource flows. A framework presents these elements, mapped against requirements for PSSs that close loops. Subsequently, the research focused on investigating the resource flow-system, which encompasses all the system elements in place to produce a resource flow. A new modelling method is proposed that describes the movements and transformations of resources and helps configure FMCG sector-specific system elements. The model can be used to explain how FMCG systems work. Finally, a tool called the Flow Mapper is presented, which embeds the modelling method as well as the process to apply it and analyse the model. The tool enables industrial users to develop a holistic view and an in-depth understanding of the resource flowsystem informing the development of future systems solutions.Open Acces
