An efficient emergency, healthcare, and medical information system

Many of the current Malaysian medical information and emergency systems are still paper-based and stand alone systems that do not fully utilize the Internet, multimedia, wireless and real time technologies. This research work focuses on developing an integrated Emergency, Healthcare, and Medical Information System (IEHMS) that can overcome many of the problems in the current systems. The main aim of this work is to incorporate the real-time and mobility technologies with medical emergency systems. Our proposed system can offer: SMS, MMS, live audio and video coverage. A prototype for the proposed system is implemented using open source tools

Medical data processing and analysis for remote health and activities monitoring

Recent developments in sensor technology, wearable computing, Internet of Things (IoT), and wireless communication have given rise to research in ubiquitous healthcare and remote monitoring of human\u2019s health and activities. Health monitoring systems involve processing and analysis of data retrieved from smartphones, smart watches, smart bracelets, as well as various sensors and wearable devices. Such systems enable continuous monitoring of patients psychological and health conditions by sensing and transmitting measurements such as heart rate, electrocardiogram, body temperature, respiratory rate, chest sounds, or blood pressure. Pervasive healthcare, as a relevant application domain in this context, aims at revolutionizing the delivery of medical services through a medical assistive environment and facilitates the independent living of patients. In this chapter, we discuss (1) data collection, fusion, ownership and privacy issues; (2) models, technologies and solutions for medical data processing and analysis; (3) big medical data analytics for remote health monitoring; (4) research challenges and opportunities in medical data analytics; (5) examples of case studies and practical solutions

Archiving and Delivery of 3DTI Rehabilitation Sessions

In this paper we present CyPhy: a cyber-physiotherapy system that brings daily rehabilitation to patient’s home with supervision from trained therapist. With its archiving and delivery features, CyPhy is able to 1) capture and record RGB-D and physiotherapy-related medical sensing data streams in home environment; 2) provide efficient storage for rehabilitation session recordings; 3) provide fast metadata analysis over stored sessions for review recommendation; 4) adaptively deliver rehabilitation session under different networking capabilities; 5) support smooth viewpoint changing during 3D video streaming with scene rendering schemes tailored for devices with different bandwidth and power limitations; and 6) provide platform-independent streaming client for various mobile and PC environments

Description and Experience of the Clinical Testbeds

This deliverable describes the up-to-date technical environment at three clinical testbed demonstrator sites of the 6WINIT Project, including the adapted clinical applications, project components and network transition technologies in use at these sites after 18 months of the Project.
