    Explaining Trained Neural Networks with Semantic Web Technologies: First Steps

    The ever increasing prevalence of publicly available structured data on the World Wide Web enables new applications in a variety of domains. In this paper, we provide a conceptual approach that leverages such data in order to explain the input-output behavior of trained artificial neural networks. We apply existing Semantic Web technologies in order to provide an experimental proof of concept

    Through a detailed performance analysis of Kindle Theatre’s Eat Your Heart Out (2009), Punchdrunk’s Faust (2006) and my own practice directing Tin Box Theatre’s Stop the Clocks (2011), this thesis investigates the phenomenological impact of performances which take place in non-theatre sites. I explore phenomenology with reference to Maurice Merleau-Ponty and his Phenomenology of Perception, in relation to existing notions of theatre phenomenology examined by Bert O. States and Stanton B. Garner. Using site-specific discourse to frame my analysis, I emphasise that the phenomenological experience of an audience is key within site-specific work, and of significance to existing conversations about the genre. I argue for the importance of phenomenology in such work specifically since it offers a live, multi-sensory experience to audiences in a world of increasing digitisation

    An Approach to Relate Viewpoints and Modeling Languages

    The architectural design of distributed enterprise applications from the viewpoints of different stakeholders has been proposed for some time, for example, as part of RM-ODP and IEEE 1471, and seems now-a-days to gain acceptance in practice. However, much work remains to be done on the relationships between different viewpoints. Failing to relate viewpoints may lead to a collection of viewpoint models that is inconsistent, and may therefore lead to an incorrect implementation. This paper defines an approach that helps designers to relate different viewpoints to each other. Thereby, it helps to enforce the consistency of the overall design. The results of this paper are expected to be particularly interesting for Model Driven Architecture (MDA) projects, since the proposed models can be used for the explicit definition of the models and relationships between models in an MDA trajectory

    Hamburg's warehouse district in Martin tom Dieck's "hundert Ansichten der Speicherstadt"

    Most texts that deal with Martin tom Dieck’s black-and-white comic "hundert Ansichten der Speicherstadt" (Zürich: Arrache Cœur, 1997, French title: Vortex) claim that it depicts the eponymous warehouse district (Speicherstadt) in Hamburg. As this paper shows, this claim is inaccurate: although the architecture in tom Dieck’s drawings clearly refers to buildings in the warehouse district, the differences in the details are so obvious, that to speak of a straightforward depiction of the Speicherstadt is oversimplifying. After a brief comparison with Christoph Schäfer’s picture book "Die Stadt ist unsere Fabrik" (Leipzig: Spector Books, 2010), the paper concludes with a discussion of the depiction of urban environments in general and in tom Dieck's book in particular
