    Terdapat pelbagai kaedah pembelajaran yang telah diperkenalkan termasuklah kaedah pembelajaran yang menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran bermodul secara kendiri. Kajian ini adalah bertujuan untuk mengkaji kesesuaian Modul Pengajaran Kendiri Keusahawanan dalam topik Isu Keusahawanan yang telah dihasilkan bagi pelajar yang mengikuti pengajian Diploma di Jabatan Perdagangan Politeknik. Antara aspek yang dikaji ialah untuk menilai sama ada rekabentuk modul yang dihasilkan dapat memenuhi ciri-ciri modul yang baik, MPK yang dihasilkan dapat membantu mencapai objektif pembelajaran, MPK ini bersifat mesra pengguna dan MPK yang dihasilkan membantu pensyarah menyampaikan pengajarannya dengan lebih berkesan. Kajian ini dilakukan ke atas 110 orang pelajar semester en am yang mengikuti pengajian diploma dan 4 orang pensyarah yang mengajar subjek Keusahawanan di Jabatan Perdagangan Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Selangor. Kaedah analisa data yang digunakan dalam kajian ini ialah skor min dan peratus. Hasil daripada kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa rekabentuk modul yang dihasilkan memenuhi ciri-ciri modul yang baik, MPK ini membantu untuk mencapai objektif pembelajaran, MPK ini bersifat mesra pengguna dan MPK yang dihasilkan dapat membantu pensyarah menyampaikan pengajarannya dengan lebih berkesan. Ini bermakna secara keseluruhannya, hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa modul yang dihasilkan oleh pengkaji adalah sesuai digunakan oleh pelajar-pelajar semester enam yang mengikuti pengajian diploma di Jabatan Perdagangan peringkat politeknik. Seterusnya, beberapa pandangan telah dikemukakan bagi meningkatkan rnutu dan kualiti MPK yang dihasilkan. Semoga kajian ini dapat memberi manfaat kepada mereka yang terlibat dalam bidang pendidikan

    Toolpaths Programming in an Intelligent Step-NC Manufacturing Context

    The current language for CNC programming is G-code which dates from the beginning of the eighties with the norm ISO 6983. With the new technologies, G-code becomes obsolete. It presents drawbacks that create a rupture in the numerical chain at the manufacturing step. A new standard, STEP-NC, aims to overtake these lacks. A STEP-NC file includes all the information for manufacturing, as geometry description of the entities, workplan, machining strategies, tools, etc. For rough pocket milling, the ISO norms propose different kind of classical strategies as bidirectional, parallel or spiral contour, etc. This paper describes a new way of toolpath programming by the repetition of a pattern all along a guide curve. It presents several advantages as building fastness and easiness. The integration of pattern strategies in STEP-NC standard is an other step for the development of these strategies but also for the enrichment of STEP-NC possibilities. A complete STEP-NC numerical chain was built, integrating these pattern strategies. The implementation of this approach of building pattern strategies was made by the development of tools for the complete manufacturing cycle, from the CAD file to the machined part. Several application cases were experimented on machine tool to validate this approach and the efficiency of the developped tools

    A framework for green manufacturing practicies in small and medium enterprises in Malaysia

    Green Manufacturing Practices (GrMP) is a term used to describe manufacturing practices that do not harm the environment during any part of the manufacturing process. It emphasizes the use of processes that do not pollute the environment or harm consumers, employees, or other members of the community. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are moving toward sustainable alternatives through GrMP method. It stresses on critical factors such as organisational style, eco-knowledge, business environment, society influences, supply chain management and technology network. Large size industries are more compelled to do so compared to SMEs due to the fact that they are more influential with better organizational management and good financial stability compared to SMEs. However, SMEs are trying to adapt GrMP as a mandatory process, but lack of proper framework which guide them for implementation. Therefore, this study developes the framework of GrMP for local SMEs. The study involves enablers and barriers in implementing GrMP from previous literatures. This work formulate a framework based on relationship between criticals factors with enablers and barriers. 59 of respondents from local industries in Malaysia were selected as respondents based on six of critical factors divided into two parts which are enablers and barriers. The questionnaire are designed based on this. Survey were evaluated by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23, in terms of correlation, reliability, central tendency and variability testing. The finding on this study in the term of framework will help SMEs to implementing GrMP. Framework formulate relates the critical factors from previous literature and enablers and barriers from survey based on perception of industries expert. GrMP for SMEs are the first step of environmental awareness and ecological responsibilties

    A REVIEW OF INTELLIGENT CNC CONTROLLER DEVELOPMENT BASED ON STEP-NC

    In the contemporary Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machine tools of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and CNC process conducted by a number of inter-related operations and parameters using G Codes and M codes set as RS274 or ISO 6983 standard. However, this programming language does not explicitly relate to each other to have control of arbitrary locations other than the motion of the block-by-block. STEP-NC is the extension to STEP, Standard for Exchange Product model data. This determines the neutral data format for digital information from a product. STEP-NC standard is on how information about CNC machining can be added to parts represented in the STEP product model data. In this paper is to review and explore the making of interoperable CNC manufacturing is then provided relating milling, turning, turn-mill through the development of information models for products, processes and new machining system controller developed base on new standard ISO 14649 standard and ISO 10303, which related to data modeling for CNC features, process planning, and machine tool. It is expected that this paper will meet a step towards the requirements for global interoperable manufacturing for real-life machining system

    An eXtended Manufacturing Integrated System for feature based manufacturing with STEP-NC

    International audienceCNC feature-based programming with STEP-NC standard extends the collaborative model of manufacturing data exchange all along the numerical data chain. This paper considers the mutations related to this approach from the manufacturing system level to the industrial enterprise as a whole. The eXtended Manufacturing Integrated System concept is introduced to fill in the gap of the current manufacturing data exchange bottleneck. It is composed of eXtended CAD and eXtended CNC systems to link the CAD model to the real machined part through the Manufacturing Information Pipeline. The contributions associated with these concepts are demonstrated through a validation platform implemented on industrial CNC manufacturing equipments

Reka bentuk kajian ini adalah membangunkan produk iaitu pembangunan video pembelajaran berdasarkan model PIE. Metodologi pembangunan objek pembelajaran melibatkan fasa Perancangan, Perlaksanaan dan penilaian. Kajian ini adalah berdasarkan pembangunan produk berdasarkan pengesahan pakar bagi membangunan dan menilai produk. Kajian ini dibangunkan berdasarkan pengesahan pakar bagi menilai pembangunan video. Instrumen penilaian objek pembelajaran ini dibangunkan bagi menilai elemen multimedia yang terdiri dari aspek teks, audio, animasi, grafik dan isi kandungan pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan persembahan keseluruhan video pembelajaran yang menggunakan website (wix.com) ini adalah sesuai dan menarik untuk P&P bagi kursus Teknologi Pemesinan

    Current machine tools have incurred challenges on limitation such as part programming complexity of G and M code, weak integration of digital machine tools and coverage of universal data modeling for product and manufacturing resources. In response to this manufacturing system requirement, Standard for Exchange of Product data (STEP) and its implementation on developing an interface for the next generation of machine tool controllers (STEP-NC) has become a concern of research interest and performed on basic manufacturing technology limited to a unit domain such as turning, milling or Wire EDM. Therefore; extending this STEP implementation on multipurpose machine tools such as turn-mill machines is mandatory since the machines are the main component in these industries.     A new CNC programming method using STEP-NC protocol

    Novi metod programiranja numerički upravljanih mašina alatki, koji se javlja kao alternativa G kôdu (po standardu ISO6983), je protokol AP238, ili STEP-NC, po standardu ISO10303. U radu je dato poređenje klasičnog (G kôd) i novog načina programiranja (STEP-NC), struktura opreme potrebne za novi metod programiranja, struktura programa i aktuelni scenariji za primenu protokola STEP-NC. Verifikacija navedenih scenarija realizovana je kroz tri primera.A new programming method of CNC Machine tools, which is developing as an alternative to G code, is AP238 protocol or STEP-NC, according to ISO 10303 standard. In this paper, a comparation between classical (G code) and new way of programming (STEP-NC ) is given. A structure of equipment needed for new programming method, program structure and current scenario for implementation of STEP-NC are shown. Verification of the above scenarios using the STEP-NC, is realized through three examples

    Network part program approach based on the STEP-NC data structure for the machining of multiple fixture pallets

    partially_open4noThe adoption of alternative process plans, that is, process plans that include alternative ways of machining a workpiece, can improve system performance through a better management of resource availability. Unfortunately even if this opportunity is deeply analysed in literature, it is not frequently adopted in real manufacturing practice. In order to fill this gap, this article presents the network part program (NPP) approach for the machining of multiple fixture pallets. The NPP approach is based on the STEP-NC data structure which supports nonlinear sequences of operations and process flexibility. In the NPP approach, a machining system supervisor defines the machining sequences and generates the related part programs just before the execution of the pallet. This article provides an approach with high scientific value and industrial applicability based on the integration of new and existing process planning methods. A real industrial case study is considered in order to show that in real applications the final quality is unaffected by the change of the sequence of the operations due to the employment of nonlinear process plans. Since the results appear very encouraging, the proposed approach is a possible solution to accelerate the adoption of nonlinear process planning in real manufacturing practice.S. Borgia; S.     Electric filed intensity of the lightning strikes on lightning air terminals installed on building structures

    Lightning activities are growing up rapidly with global warming. It can affect anything on the earth. All the constructed buildings need proper protection from the harmful effect of lightning. Lightning strike points on different geometrical shapes have been investigated. Lightning strike distribution of different building structure is very important to be studied. In order to analyse the maximum effect of lightning strike pattern is obtained of different air terminals installed on scaled building structures. High voltage impulse generator is used in order to get the impulse voltage. Different numbers of air terminals have been applied to all the shapes in order to see the lightning strike points. Electric field is obtained in order to see its minimum and maximum effect on the entire building structure. Interestingly the phenomenon of lightning air terminal bypasses has been proved in this paper
