On finite MTL-algebras that are representable as poset products of archimedean chains

We obtain a duality between the category of locally unital finite MTL-algebras and the category of finite labeled trees. In addition we prove that certain poset products of MTL-algebras are in fact, sheaves of MTL-chains over Alexandrov spaces. Finally we give a concrete description for the studied poset products in terms of direct products and ordinal sums of finite MTL-algebras.Fil: Castiglioni, José Luis. Generalized continuous and left-continuous t-norms arising from algebraic semantics for fuzzy logics

This paper focuses on the issue of how generalizations of continuous and left-continuous t-norms over linearly ordered sets should be from a logical point of view. Taking into account recent results in the scope of algebraic semantics for fuzzy logics over chains with a monoidal residuated operation, we advocate linearly ordered BL-algebras and MTL-algebras as adequate generalizations of continuous and left-continuous t-norms respectively. In both cases, the underlying basic structure is that of linearly ordered residuated lattices. Although the residuation property is equivalent to left-continuity in t-norms, continuous t-norms have received much more attention due to their simpler structure. We review their complete description in terms of ordinal sums and discuss the problem of describing the structure of their generalization to BL-chains. In particular we show the good behavior of BL-algebras over a finite or complete chain, and discuss the partial knowledge of rational BL-chains. Then we move to the general non-continuous case corresponding to left-continuous t-norms and MTL-chains. The unsolved problem of describing the structure of left-continuous t-norms is presented together with a fistful of construction-decomposition techniques that apply to some distinguished families of t-norms and, finally, we discuss the situation in the general study of MTL-chains as a natural generalization of left-continuous t-norms

Order, algebra, and structure: lattice-ordered groups and beyond

This thesis describes and examines some remarkable relationships existing between seemingly quite different properties (algebraic, order-theoretic, and structural) of ordered groups. On the one hand, it revisits the foundational aspects of the structure theory of lattice-ordered groups, contributing a novel systematization of its relationship with the theory of orderable groups. One of the main contributions in this direction is a connection between validity in varieties of lattice-ordered groups, and orders on groups; a framework is also provided that allows for a systematic account of the relationship between orders and preorders on groups, and the structure theory of lattice-ordered groups. On the other hand, it branches off in new directions, probing the frontiers of several different areas of current research. More specifically, one of the main goals of this thesis is to suitably extend results that are proper to the theory of lattice-ordered groups to the realm of more general, related algebraic structures; namely, distributive lattice-ordered monoids and residuated lattices. The theory of lattice-ordered groups provides themain source of inspiration for this thesis’ contributions on these topics
