Social network online games (SNOGs) make players have a positive usage status (such as: entertainment, and enjoyment). Yet, it may also produce a negative usage status (such as: technostress). Users who are new to social network online games are termed novice gamers. Based on the theory of Technological-Personal-Environmental (TPE), this research proposes a framework to explain the adoption of social network online games from the novice players’ perspective, and conducts qualitative in-depth interviews with them to define the key factors for the continuous usage intention on social network online games. This research plans to use online questionnaires and structural equation modeling (SEM) to verify models and hypotheses in order to obtain antecedents of the continuous usage intention for novice players in social network online games and related impact

In this study, the research group applied the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by Davis (1989) to analyze factors influencing customers’ intention to use the online payment via e-commerce platforms as well as to encourage Vietnamese consumers to adapt this means of payment. Besides Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness in the original model of Davis (1989), three additional dependent factors (Subjective Norm, Trust, Risk) were added to the model. The new model proposed by the research group aims to give a more well-rounded explanation on Vietnamese consumers’ attitude and intention towards the online payment. Using sample data including 448 consumers in the Northern region of Vietnam, the research group has been able to validate the hypothesis model and prove that independent and dependent variables (Attitude towards Use and Intention to Use) are positively correlated. Among the 5 dependent variables, Subjective Norm is found to be the most significant factor contributing to promote online payment attitude and intention through e-commerce websites of Vietnamese consumers. Electronic health record system (EHRs) is preferred as standard documentation to track patient information and office visits. It is acclaimed as technological breakthrough capable to improve the healthcare industry’s service delivery and system quality. Accordingly, Jordanian government initiated EHRs implementation in all public hospitals. However, only eleven out of 35 public hospitals have fully implemented EHRs and their usage remains low. Moreover, empirical research associated to the particular concern of EHRs is insufficient and the effort to appraise it is low considering its extensive ongoing implementation. Besides, comprehending and explaining nurses’ continuous intention (CI) to use EHRs are crucial to gauge EHRs usage in Jordan. Considering the problem, this study highlighted on continuous intention (CI) of nurses to use EHRs model by incorporating the following theories; the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), Expectation-Confirmation Theory (ECT) and Five Factor Model (FFM). The model is insinuated to investigate whether UTAUT factors namely effort expectancy, performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, FFM domains (conscientiousness, extraversion, neuroticism, openness to experience, and agreeableness) and Top Management Support (TMS) predict nurses’ CI to use EHRs. Total responses are 497 nurses. Partial Least Squares technique used for analysis. Results revealed significant positive relationship between UTAUT factors and CI. However, there is no significant evidence of relationship between TMS and CI. The study also disclosed significant mediating influence of performance expectancy on two separate hypotheses concerning two predictors namely agreeableness and openness to experience on CI. Additionally, the study revealed significant moderation impact of conscientiousness on the relationship between both performance expectancy and social influence with CI. The study has illustrated important attention to substantive differences between acceptance and continuance to use behaviors

Visualizing learners’ information through the development of open learner models for improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning has attracted much attention in technology-mediated learning. There is, however, a lack of research in exploring the acceptance of open learner models in the pre-adoption of this model. This paper develops a multi-dimensional measurement model for assessing the pre-adoption of open learner models from the learners’ perspective. A pilot study is carried out to confirm the reliability and validity of the measurement model based on the data collected from 300 respondents using an online survey distributed in a higher education institution in Malaysia. This model provides a useful set of guidelines for educational institutions in developing efficient and effective policies to promote the adoption of open learner models in technology-mediated learning towards improving the performance of technology-mediated teaching and learning

Hotel Information System (HIS) is defined as technological implementation in developing information for hotel industry. HIS is intended to increase operational efficiency, time efficiency, and improvement in service to guest. It is especially important as a strategic weapon to compete in the hotel industry. This study is intended to examine factors influencing the willingness to adopt and implement HIS, and conditions that facilitate the adoption and willingness to adopt and implement UTAUT model of technology-based AIS. The study is conducted in Tri Hita Karana cultural context as a substitute for social construct in original UTAUT model. Data are collected using questionnaire-aided survey to gather opinions of knowledge workers. This research uses purposive sampling and each hotel are represented by three knowledge workers. Total respondents in this study are 143 individuals on hotels in Bali. Data are further analyzed using partial least square. Results of the study empirically support UTAUT model in Tri Hita Karana culture context as organizational socio-cultural factor. Results of the analysis shows performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and socio-cultural factor  affect  intention to adopt and use. Facilitating conditions and intention to adopt and use affect adoption and implementation of AIS based IT. Gender moderates performance expectancy and  socio-cultural factor to intention to adopt and use. Also, age moderates performance expectancy to intention to adopt and use AIS based IT in Bali. Key words: AIS based IT adoption and usage, UTAUT Model, Tri Hita Karana, and socio-cultural factor

A multivariate analysis of the determinants for adoption and use of the Document Workflow Management System in Botswana’s public sector

Abstract: Governments in Africa are spending significant funds in their drive towards putting public business processes and services online. Although this drive has different names such as electronic government (e-government), open government, open data, etc., the motivation is hinged upon achieving overall efficiency and effectiveness in public services and is based on Freedom of Information (FoI). In Botswana’s public services, diverse interventions are being put into place to facilitate business automation and electronic records management. The then Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), now Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has joined the drive by implementing the Document Workflow Management System (DWMS) as an e-records management system. This study probes the determinant factors influencing meaningful adoption and usage of DWMS for effective records and information management within MITI. Multivariate analysis is employed to understand which factors have the highest variance in adoption and use of DWMS. The study utilises the adapted Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as the conceptual framework in its design. Quantitative data was collected from a population of 61 officers from which 53 (86.9%) were returned and included in the analysis. Effort expectancy, behavioural intention, social influences and facilitating conditions were the key determinants for adoption and use accounting for 55% of variance. The study identifies to what degree each of the potent factors contribute to adoption and use of DWMS at MITI. The major limitation of this study is that it was impossible to identify all the factors influencing behaviour intention, as human behaviour is difficult to measure. The other unidentified factors account for 45% of variance not accounted for by the predictor factors. This is an indication that there is a need for an in-depth study, preferably a longitudinal, unlike a cross-section, study like this one that critically probes the factors of technology adoption in work processes by a large set of individuals in a developing world context

    Get PDF
Purpose – This study aims to investigate the effects of XR technologies on the behavioral intentions of disabled tourists using a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Design – The model includes perceived trust, perceived control, perceived efficacy, and perceived enjoyment as determinants of technology acceptance by disabled tourists. The hypotheses derived from the literature were empirically tested. Methodology/Approach – The proposed model was tested by collecting data from 640 disabled tourists in Iran over a six-month period. An online survey was answered after watching two videos, representing the application of VR and AR. A quantitative method was applied, the PLS-SEM method was conducted to analyze the data. Findings – The model was significantly supported by the results on the determinants of attitudes of people with disabilities toward XR technology. Other than the effect of perceived efficiency on PEOU, all the hypotheses were supported, demonstrating the positive effects of each of factors on the attitudes of disabled tourists and their behavioral intentions towards XR technology. Originality of the research – This study significantly expands the academic knowledge on the fundamental factors affecting behavioural intentions of disabled tourists, as 15% of the world’s population. This is the first study to investigate these factors in relation to the disabled tourists and XR technologies. This study will provide insight to marketers and stakeholders on the behavioral intentions of disabled tourists
