Grid service discovery with rough sets

Service discovery becomes an issue of vital importance in utilising grid facilities. This paper presents ROSSE, a Rough sets based search engine for grid service discovery. Building on Rough sets theory, ROSSE is novel in its capability to deal with uncertainty of properties when matching services. In this way, ROSSE can discover the services that are most relevant to a service query from a functional point of view. Since functionally matched services may have distinct non-functional properties related to Quality of Service (QoS), ROSSE introduces a QoS model to further filter matched services with their QoS values to maximise user satisfaction in service discovery. ROSSE is evaluated in terms of its accuracy and efficiency in discovery of computing services

Dialoging A Successful Pedagogy for Embedded Tutors
Over the past three years, Rider University’s Student Success Center Writing Lab has implemented an embedded tutor program for composition courses. Tutors attend class, participate in class discussions, facilitate writing workshops in class, and hold drop-in hours for students (in addition to tutors’ Writing Lab hours). The Embedded Tutor (ET) program, facilitated by Jenny Scudder (who is also the Writing Lab Director), has been successful in helping students complete skills-based courses and connect to academic support services. Initial assessment of the ET program supports the inclusion of the tutor in a skills-based course. E-methods in literary production: integrating e-learning in creative writing
This paper discusses the integration of e-learning in creative writing. The online approach to the teaching of creative writing takes into account today’s Malaysian youth and their fascination with computer technology. It is this appeal of innovation in electronics and knowledge that leads an educator to design an on-line approach to a creative writing course. The theoretical construct used to support the discussion is Anderson’s theory that on-line learning is knowledge-, community-, assessment-, and learner-centered. The writer, who is also the course developer, analyses a poetry-writing activity, which students undertake, and the e-portfolio used in the course. To analyze the processes involved in this creative writing exercise Macherey’s (1978) Theory of Literary Production is adapted and utilized. This theory, which regards literary production as a process imitating that of a production line, provides the methodology and conceptual framework for analyzing the raw materials collected by the students and their transformation during the writing process. Primitives for Contract-based Synchronization
We investigate how contracts can be used to regulate the interaction between
processes. To do that, we study a variant of the concurrent constraints
calculus presented in [1], featuring primitives for multi-party synchronization
via contracts. We proceed in two directions. First, we exploit our primitives
to model some contract-based interactions. Then, we discuss how several models
for concurrency can be expressed through our primitives. In particular, we

Precisely Analyzing Loss in Interface Adapter Chains
Interface adaptation allows code written for one interface to be used with a
software component with another interface. When multiple adapters are chained
together to make certain adaptations possible, we need a way to analyze how
well the adaptation is done in case there are more than one chains that can be
used. We introduce an approach to precisely analyzing the loss in an interface
