Cultural landscape of the 21st century : Geographical consideration between theory and practice

    Get PDF
The simplest definition of landscape describes it as the physiognomy of the geographical environment. The notion cultural landscape refers to landscape that has been transformed by Man as the result of civilizational development. Cultural landscapes are extremely dynamic and ephemeral systems. Currently, we are witnessing dramatic transformation of the landscape. The processes of consumption and globalization of the landscape are happening on a mass scale in the 21st century. Many of the factors that cause these rapid changes are within the scope of interest of geography; these include analyses of the impact on the environment of mass tourism, transport, fragmentation of the space resulting from growing areas of settlements and service sites, restructuring of industry, etc. The issues discussed in the paper include: factors of landscape transformation, diversification of European landscapes in selected regions and assessment of their condition, analysis of contemporary threats to the quality of European landscapes and directions of their transformation

Man and Machine in terms of heterogeneous devices and sensors collaborate giving birth to the Internet of Things, Internet of future. Within a short span of time 30billions intelligent devices in form of smart applications will get connected making it difficult to test and debug in terms of time and cost.Simulators play vital role in verifying application and providing security before actually deploying it in real environment.Due to constraint environment in terms of memory, computation, and energy this review paper under a single umbrella will throw insight on comprehensive and in-depth analysis keeping in mind various barriers, critical design characteristics along with the comparison of candidate simulator and packet sniffing tool. Post simulated analysis play vital role in deciding behavior of data and helping research community to satisfy quality of service parameters. This review makes it feasible to make an appropriate choice for simulators and network analyzer tool easy fulfilling needs and making IoT a realit

Ethernet Transport Performance and Triple-Play QoS in Large Ship Environment

    Get PDF
Long lasting Ethernet standards have grown beyond traditional LAN networks through MAN to WAN environment, where it has become the technology which many providers use for developing convergent networks that transport new generation services, such as triple-play widely deployed everywhere – from airports and hotels to large cruise ships. The question of network suitability for providing various communication services has to be considered in practice, especially in case of large ships, as the content of traffic is very diverse with exceptionally variable intensity. Under such specific circumstances for ships theoretical models cannot be directly applied. Rather, network design and implementation depend on practical preliminary test results and analysis. To this end, the out-of-service simulation of either network or user equipment was done according to the RFC 2544 recommendation by means of a smart test device that generates the appropriate test traffic over the Ethernet link from a 3G base station (NodeB) towards the Radio Network Controller (RNC). Network troughput, latency, jitter and frame loss were measured, thus providing the picture of soundness of Ethernet transport layers. However, even the best results in this respect do not necesarily imply a high quality QoS at the application layer. Therefore, the endto-end QoS was tested specifically for concurrent data and for VoIP applications

Model of structural equation of influence knowledge economy on growth of gross domestic product

The modern age is often described using the terms information society, post-industrial society, knowledge economy, e-culture. Each of these phrases stresses some of the components of our modernity and is the result of many commercialized technological progress in relation to the overall economic and social development. The object of changes is the organizational system, company, corporation, technology, business process and also a man. The origin of all is man’s natural tendency to develop and change themselves, their environment and any other changes are a reflection of such natural human aspirations for change. Therefore, man is constantly researching and generating new solutions in manufacturing, services, organization and in value chain continuously adds value using new knowledge. In the value of products increasing weight has the analytical knowledge, design, engineering, new materials, technological procedures. A new economy is developing whose base is knowledge and GDP growth directly influenced by knowledge incorporated in its production. Economic analysis can identify the sequence of causes and effects that begins with the constant need to increase competitiveness, continues with investments and technological progress and they result in greater competitiveness. Such a process is guided by economic logic and market criteria is continues, constantly produces higher technological level, better organizational performance, better quality products and service and a greater level of competitiveness. Is it possible to extract knowledge in a particular subsystem and measure its impact on GDP growth? The paper is based on the hypothesis that it is possible to build a model of structural equations by which it is possible to describe and measure the impact of the knowledge economy and migration on GDP growth. In addition to the theoretical components article validate such theoretical model of structural equation by empirical research

Artificial Intelligence for the Financial Services Industry: What Challenges Organizations to Succeed?

    Get PDF
As a research field, artificial intelligence (AI) exists for several years. More recently, technological breakthroughs, coupled with the fast availability of data, have brought AI closer to commercial use. Internet giants such as Google, Amazon, Apple or Facebook invest significantly into AI, thereby underlining its relevance for business models worldwide. For the highly data driven finance industry, AI is of intensive interest within pilot projects, still, few AI applications have been implemented so far. This study analyzes drivers and inhibitors of a successful AI application in the finance industry based on panel data comprising 22 semi-structured interviews with experts in AI in finance. As theoretical lens, we structured our results using the TOE framework. Guidelines for applying AI successfully reveal AI-specific role models and process competencies as crucial, before trained algorithms will have reached a quality level on which AI applications will operate without human intervention and moral concerns

Water and Development: An Evaluation of World Bank Support, 1997-2007, Volume 1

The Independent Evaluation Group at the World Bank has evaluated a decade of the Bank's water lending and grants in terms of overall shifts in the water portfolio and project performance, as well as successes and failures in addressing water resource management, environment, water use and service delivery, and institutions and water. The Bank increased its lending for water during the period and has generally seen improvements in project performance; however, IWRM has made limited progress in client countries, environmental restoration has been underemphasized by the Bank, sanitation needs much greater attention, and support for institutional reform and capacity building has had limited success
