Modeling Decision Systems via Uncertain Programming
By uncertain programming we mean the optimization theory in generally uncertain (random, fuzzy, rough, fuzzy random, etc.) environments. The main purpose of this paper is to present a brief review on uncertain programming models, and classify them into three broad classes: expected value model, chanceconstrained programming and dependent-chance programming. This presentation is based on the book: B. Liu, Theory and Practice of Uncertain Programming, PhisicaVerlag, Heidelberg, 200

Applying nonlinear MODM model to supply chain management with quantity discount policy under complex fuzzy environment
Purpose: The aim of this paper is to deal with the supply chain management (SCM) with quantity discount policy under the complex fuzzy environment, which is characterized as the bi-fuzzy variables. By taking into account the strategy and the process of decision making, a bi-fuzzy nonlinear multiple objective decision making (MODM) model is presented to solve the proposed problem.
Design/methodology/approach: The bi-fuzzy variables in the MODM model are transformed into the trapezoidal fuzzy variables by the DMs's degree of optimism ?1 and ?2, which are de-fuzzified by the expected value index subsequently. For solving the complex nonlinear model, a multi-objective adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm (MO-APSO) is designed as the solution method.
Findings: The proposed model and algorithm are applied to a typical example of SCM problem to illustrate the effectiveness. Based on the sensitivity analysis of the results, the bi-fuzzy nonlinear MODM SCM model is proved to be sensitive to the possibility level ?1.
Practical implications: The study focuses on the SCM under complex fuzzy environment in SCM, which has a great practical significance. Therefore, the bi-fuzzy MODM model and MO-APSO can be further applied in SCM problem with quantity discount policy.
Originality/value: The bi-fuzzy variable is employed in the nonlinear MODM model of SCM to characterize the hybrid uncertain environment, and this work is original. In addition, the hybrid crisp approach is proposed to transferred to model to an equivalent crisp one by the DMs's degree of optimism and the expected value index. Since the MODM model consider the bi-fuzzy environment and quantity discount policy, so this paper has a great practical significance.Peer Reviewe
Hazmats Transportation Network Design Model with Emergency Response under Complex Fuzzy Environment
A bilevel optimization model for a hazardous materials transportation network design is presented which considers an emergency response teams location problem. On the upper level, the authority designs the transportation network to minimize total transportation risk. On the lower level, the carriers first choose their routes so that the total transportation cost is minimized. Then, the emergency response department locates their emergency service units so as to maximize the total weighted arc length covered. In contrast to prior studies, the uncertainty associated with transportation risk has been explicitly considered in the objective function of our mathematical model. Specifically, our research uses a complex fuzzy variable to model transportation risk. An improved artificial bee colony algorithm with priority-based encoding is also applied to search for the optimal solution to the bilevel model. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed model and algorithm is evaluated using a practical case and various computing attributes
New Trends in Neutrosophic Theory and Applications Volume II
Neutrosophic set has been derived from a new branch of philosophy, namely Neutrosophy. Neutrosophic set is capable of dealing with uncertainty, indeterminacy and inconsistent information. Neutrosophic set approaches are suitable to modeling problems with uncertainty, indeterminacy and inconsistent information in which human knowledge is necessary, and human evaluation is needed. Neutrosophic set theory was proposed in 1998 by Florentin Smarandache, who also developed the concept of single valued neutrosophic set, oriented towards real world scientific and engineering applications. Since then, the single valued neutrosophic set theory has been extensively studied in books and monographs introducing neutrosophic sets and its applications, by many authors around the world. Also, an international journal - Neutrosophic Sets and Systems started its journey in 2013. Single valued neutrosophic sets have found their way into several hybrid systems, such as neutrosophic soft set, rough neutrosophic set, neutrosophic bipolar set, neutrosophic expert set, rough bipolar neutrosophic set, neutrosophic hesitant fuzzy set, etc. Successful applications of single valued neutrosophic sets have been developed in multiple criteria and multiple attribute decision making. This second volume collects original research and application papers from different perspectives covering different areas of neutrosophic studies, such as decision making, graph theory, image processing, probability theory, topology, and some theoretical papers. This volume contains four sections: DECISION MAKING, NEUTROSOPHIC GRAPH THEORY, IMAGE PROCESSING, ALGEBRA AND OTHER PAPERS. First paper (Pu Ji, Peng-fei Cheng, Hongyu Zhang, Jianqiang Wang. Interval valued neutrosophic Bonferroni mean operators and the application in the selection of renewable energy) aims to construct selection approaches for renewable energy considering the interrelationships among criteria. To do that, Bonferroni mean (BM) and geometric BM (GBM) are employed
SINVLIO: using semantics and fuzzy logic to provide individual investment portfolio recommendations
Portfolio selection addresses the problem of how to diversify investments in the most efficient and profitable way possible. Portfolio selection is a field of study that has been broached from several perspectives, including, among others, recommender systems. This paper presents SINVLIO (Semantic INVestment portfoLIO), a tool based on semantic technologies and fuzzy logic techniques that recommends investments grounded in both psychological aspects of the investor and traditional financial parameters of the investments. The results are very encouraging and reveal that SINVLIO makes good recommendations, according to the high degree of agreement between SINVLIO and expert recommendationsThis work is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism, and Commerce under the projects SONAR2 (TSI-020100-2008-665) and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation under the project âFINANCIAL LINKED OPEN DATA REASONING AND MANAGEMENT FOR WEB SCIENCEâ (TIN2011-27405).Publicad
PB-ADVISOR: A private banking multi-investment porfolio.
Private banking is a business area in which the investor requires tailor-made advice. Because of the current market situation, investors are requiring answers to difficult questions and looking for assurance from wealth managers. Private bankers need to have deep knowledge about an innumerable list of products and their characteristics as well as the suitability of each product for the clientâs characteristics to be able to offer an optimal portfolio according to client expectations. Client and portfolio diversity calls for new recommendation and advice systems focused on their specific characteristics. This paper presents PB-ADVISOR, a system aimed at recommending investment portfolios based on fuzzy and semantic technologies to private bankers. The proposed system provides private bankers with a powerful tool to support their decision process and help deal with complex investment portfolios. The system has been evaluated in a real scenario obtaining promising results
Application of Multi-Objective Optimization Based on Genetic Algorithm for Sustainable Strategic Supplier Selection under Fuzzy Environment
Purpose: The incorporation of environmental objective into the conventional supplier selection
practices is crucial for corporations seeking to promote green supply chain management (GSCM).
Challenges and risks associated with green supplier selection have been broadly recognized by
procurement and supplier management professionals. This paper aims to solve a Tetra âSâ (SSSS)
problem based on a fuzzy multi-objective optimization with genetic algorithm in a holistic supply
chain environment. In this empirical study, a mathematical model with fuzzy coefficients is
considered for sustainable strategic supplier selection (SSSS) problem and a corresponding model
is developed to tackle this problem.
Design/methodology/approach: Sustainable strategic supplier selection (SSSS) decisions are
typically multi-objectives in nature and it is an important part of green production and supply
chain management for many firms. The proposed uncertain model is transferred into
deterministic model by applying the expected value measure (EVM) and genetic algorithm with weighted sum approach for solving the multi-objective problem. This research focus on a multiobjective
optimization model for minimizing lean cost, maximizing sustainable service and
greener product quality level. Finally, a mathematical case of textile sector is presented to
exemplify the effectiveness of the proposed model with a sensitivity analysis.
Findings: This study makes a certain contribution by introducing the Tetra âSâ concept in both
the theoretical and practical research related to multi-objective optimization as well as in the study
of sustainable strategic supplier selection (SSSS) under uncertain environment. Our results
suggest that decision makers tend to select strategic supplier first then enhance the sustainability.
Research limitations/implications: Although the fuzzy expected value model (EVM) with
fuzzy coefficients constructed in present research should be helpful for solving real world
problems. A detailed comparative analysis by using other algorithms is necessary for solving
similar problems of agriculture, pharmaceutical, chemicals and services sectors in future.
Practical implications: It can help the decision makers for ordering to different supplier for
managing supply chain performance in efficient and effective manner. From the procurement and
engineering perspectives, minimizing cost, sustaining the quality level and meeting production
time line is the main consideration for selecting the supplier. Empirically, this can facilitate
engineers to reduce production costs and at the same time improve the product quality.
Originality/value: In this paper, we developed a novel multi-objective programming model
based on genetic algorithm to select sustainable strategic supplier (SSSS) under fuzzy
environment. The algorithm was tested and applied to solve a real case of textile sector in
Pakistan. The experimental results and comparative sensitivity analysis illustrate the effectiveness
of our proposed model.Peer Reviewe
