Reconfiguration based built-in self-test for analogue front-end circuits
Previous work has shown that it is feasible to implement a fully digital test evaluation function to realise partial self-test on an automatic gain control circuit (AGC). This paper extends the technique to INL, DNL, offset & gain error testing of analogue to digital converters (ADC's). It also shows how the same function can be used to test an AGC / ADC pair. An extension to full self-test is also proposed by the on-chip generation of input stimuli through reconfiguration of existing functions
A design for testability study on a high performance automatic gain control circuit.
A comprehensive testability study on a commercial automatic gain control circuit is presented which aims to identify design for testability (DfT) modifications to both reduce production test cost and improve test quality. A fault simulation strategy based on layout extracted faults has been used to support the study. The paper proposes a number of DfT modifications at the layout, schematic and system levels together with testability. Guidelines that may well have generic applicability. Proposals for using the modifications to achieve partial self test are made and estimates of achieved fault coverage and quality levels presente
A new BIST scheme for low-power and high-resolution DAC testing
A BIST scheme for testing on chip DAC is presented in this paper. We discuss the generation of on chip testing stimuli and the measurement of digital signals with a narrow-band digital filter. We validate the scheme with software simulation and point out the possibility of ADC BIST with verified DACicus-journals

Test Strategies for Embedded ADC Cores in a System-on-Chip, A Case Study
Testing of a deeply embedded mixed-signal core in a System-on-Chip (SoC) is a challenging issue due to the communication bottleneck in accessing the core from external automatic test equipment. Consequently, in many cases the preferred approach is built-in self-test (BIST), where the major part of test activity is performed within the unit-under-test and only final results are communicated to the external tester. IEEE Standard 1500 provides efficient test infrastructure for testing digital cores; however, its applications in mixed-signal core test remain an open issue. In this paper we address the problem of implementing BIST of a mixed-signal core in a IEEE Std 1500 test wrapper and discuss advantages and drawbacks of different test strategies. While the case study is focused on histogram based test of ADC, test strategies of other types of mixed-signal cores related to trade-off between performance (i.e., test time) and required resources are likely to follow similar conclusions
Analysis and application of digital spectral warping in analog and mixed-signal testing
Spectral warping is a digital signal processing transform which shifts the frequencies contained within a signal along the frequency axis. The Fourier transform coefficients of a warped signal correspond to frequency-domain 'samples' of the original signal which are unevenly spaced along the frequency axis. This property allows the technique to be efficiently used for DSP-based analog and mixed-signal testing. The analysis and application of spectral warping for test signal generation, response analysis, filter design, frequency response evaluation, etc. are discussed in this paper along with examples of the software and hardware implementation
