Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns
Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse

Tackling plastic packaging waste through reusable packaging systems: a design tool and behaviour change recommendations
This thesis was submitted for the award of Doctor of Philosophy and was awarded by Brunel University LondonSingle-use plastic packaging waste is damaging the health of marine
ecosystems, and this issue is required to be addressed urgently.
This research focuses on applying Product-Service System (PSS) to Reusable
Packaging Systems (RPSs) to address the primary food and household products
packaging waste, by closing the loop of consumption, to make packaging stay
longer in the system. The overall aim of this research is to provide support for
packaging professionals to design PSS applied to RPSs.
This PhD includes three parts. In the first part, the work has resulted in the
creation of a design tool, including a classification system and 15 archetypal
models. This creation process also led to the collection of variables that
characterise the features of PSS applied to RPSs.
The second part of this research aimed to understand how the classification
system and archetypal models could support packaging professionals. Both
have been iteratively evaluated and refined by a wide range of packaging
professionals such as packaging consultants, reusable packaging providers, and
NGO professionals to address plastic waste. After these testing activities, the
completeness, clarity, usability, and usefulness of the design tool have been
established.
The third part of the research was dedicated to developing design
recommendations to improve the user experience of particular reusable
packaging offers. Design recommendations were developed through an iterative
process of identifying the user acceptance issues embedded in selected cases,
and applying strategies from Design for Sustainable Behaviour (DfSB) to
address them.
The concluding chapters described how the research outcomes can be
integrated, and how the research outcomes can fulfil the knowledge gap. They
also proposed a design process, different scenarios of applications, knowledge
arising from the comparison with other similar studies, limitations and future
research opportunities.

Inventory Management with Raw Materials Costs Subject to Quotation: The Analysis of the Jewellery Industry
This thesis has the objective to present the particular inventory management problem in case of procurement of raw materials subject to quotation, a subject that goes beyond traditional stock control policies proposed by literature, where purchase price is typically assumed as a constant and therefore not even considered in the decision of when and how much to order
Campus Telecommunications Systems: Managing Change
The purpose of this book is to provide a broadbased understanding of the rapidly changing environment of campus telecommunications. The anticipated audience for this material is the non-technical university administrator who may not have direct responsibility for telecommunications, but has a need to understand the general environment in which his telecommunications manager functions and the basic concepts of the technology. Five topic areas were selected that best cover the preponderance of issues. No attempt has been made to associate or closely coordinate materials from one chapter\u27s subject to that of any other. Each chapter generally stands alone. In total, however, the five chapters address the topics and issues that most often generate inquiries from university administrators outside the telecommunications department.
Introduction
1 The Changing Telecommunications Environment
2 Telecommunications Technology and the Campus
3 Student Services
4 Financing a New Telecommunications System .
5 Selecting a Consultant

Term-driven E-Commerce
Can Upward Brand Extensions be an Opportunity for Marketing Managers During the Covid-19 Pandemic and Beyond?
Early COVID-19 research has guided current managerial practice by introducing
more products across different product categories as consumers tried to avoid
perceived health risks from food shortages, i.e. horizontal brand extensions. For
example, Leon, a fast-food restaurant in the UK, introduced a new range of ready
meal products. However, when the food supply stabilised, availability may no
longer be a concern for consumers. Instead, job losses could be a driver of higher
perceived financial risks. Meanwhile, it remains unknown whether the perceived
health or financial risks play a more significant role on consumers’ consumptions.
Our preliminary survey shows perceived health risks outperform perceived
financial risks to positively influence purchase intention during COVID-19. We
suggest such a result indicates an opportunity for marketers to consider
introducing premium priced products, i.e. upward brand extensions. The risk-asfeelings and signalling theories were used to explain consumer choice under risk may adopt affective heuristic processing, using minimal cognitive efforts to
evaluate products. Based on this, consumers are likely to be affected by the salient
high-quality and reliable product cue of upward extension signalled by its
premium price level, which may attract consumers to purchase when they have
high perceived health risks associated with COVID-19. Addressing this, a series of
experimental studies confirm that upward brand extensions (versus normal new
product introductions) can positively moderate the positive effect between
perceived health risks associated with COVID-19 and purchase intention. Such an
effect can be mediated by affective heuristic information processing. The results
contribute to emergent COVID-19 literature and managerial practice during the
pandemic but could also inform post-pandemic thinking around vertical brand
extensions
