    Sentiment Analysis Of Web Forums: Comparison Between SentiWordNet And SentiStrength

    Internet has become a major tool for communication, training, fundraising, media operations, and recruitment, and these processes often use web forums. This paper intended to find suitable technique for analysing selected web forums that included radical content by presenting a comparison between SentiWordNet and SentiStrength. SentiWordNet is a lexical resource for supporting opinion mining by assigning a positivity score and a negativity score to each WordNet. SentiStrength is a technique that was developed from comments on MySpace. It uses human-designed lexical and emotional terms with a set of amplification, diminishing and negation rules.     Sentimental causal rule discovery from twitter

    Social media, especially Twitter is now one of the most popular platforms where people can freely express their opinion. However, it is difficult to extract important summary information from many millions of tweets sent every hour. In this work we propose a new concept, sentimental causal rules, and techniques for extracting sentimental causal rules from textual data sources such as Twitter which combine sentiment analysis and causal rule discovery. Sentiment analysis refers to the task of extracting public sentiment from textual data. The value in sentiment analysis lies in its ability to reflect popularly voiced perceptions that are stated in natural language. Causal rules on the other hand indicate associations between different concepts in a context where one (or several concepts) cause(s) the other(s). We believe that sentimental causal rules are an effective summarization mechanism that combine causal relations among different aspects extracted from textual data as well as the sentiment embedded in these causal relationships. In order to show the effectiveness of sentimental causal rules, we have conducted experiments on Twitter data collected on the Kurdish political issue in Turkey which has been an ongoing heated public debate for many years. Our experiments on Twitter data show that sentimental causal rule discovery is an effective method to summarize information about important aspects of an issue in Twitter which may further be used by politicians for better policy making

    Analysis of Mobile Service Providers Performance Using Naive Bayes Data Mining Technique

    Recently, the mobile service providers have been growing rapidly in Malaysia. In this paper, we propose analytical method to find best telecommunication provider by visualizing their performance among telecommunication service providers in Malaysia, i.e. TM Berhad, Celcom, Maxis, U-Mobile, etc. This paperuses data mining technique to evaluate the performanceof telecommunication service providers using their customers feedback from Twitter Inc. It demonstrates on how the system could process and then interpret the big data into a simple graph or visualization format. In addition, build a computerized tool and recommend data analytic model based on the collected result. From prepping the data for pre-processing until conducting analysis, this project is focusing on the process of data science itself where Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) methodology will be used as a reference. The analysis was developed by using R language and R Studio packages. From the result, it shows that Telco 4 is the best as it received highest positive scores from the tweet data. In contrast, Telco 3 should improve their performance as having less positive feedback from their customers via tweet data. This project bring insights of how the telecommunication industries can analyze tweet data from their customers. Malaysia telecommunication industry will get the benefit by improving their customer satisfaction and business growth. Besides, it will give the awareness to the telecommunication user of updated review from other users

    Some experiments on modeling stock market behavior using investor sentiment analysis and posting volume from twitter

    The analysis of microblogging data related with stock mar- kets can reveal relevant new signals of investor sentiment and attention. It may also provide sentiment and attention indicators in a more rapid and cost-effective manner than other sources. In this study, we created several indicators using Twitter data and investigated their value when model- ing relevant stock market variables, namely returns, trading volume and volatility. We collected recent data from nine ma jor technological companies. Several sentiment analy- sis methods were explored, by comparing 5 popular lexical resources and two novel lexicons (emoticon based and the merge of all 6 lexicons) and sentiment indicators produced using two strategies (based on daily words and individual tweet classifications). Also, we measured posting volume associated with tweets related to the analyzed companies. While a short time period is considered (32 days), we found scarce evidence that sentiment indicators can explain these stock returns. However, interesting results were obtained when measuring the value of using posting volume for fit- ting trading volume and, in particular, volatility.This work is funded by FEDER, through the program COM- PETE and the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), within the project FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER- 022674
