Comprehensive framework for the development of control and navigation systems of autonomous underwater vehicles: the mission-sicuva project
This paper presents an overview of coordinated project MISSION-SICUVA, and the results achieved at its recent completion. A prototype of UUV has been built with an orientation to oceanographic research and test of new control algorithms. It consist of an underwater vehicle towing a surface buoy, with applications such as monitoring water quality, high resolution bathymetry of the seabed and its map projection. New biological inspired navigation algorithms have been implemented using a comprehensive component based development framework
Text-guided Image-and-Shape Editing and Generation: A Short Survey
Image and shape editing are ubiquitous among digital artworks. Graphics
algorithms facilitate artists and designers to achieve desired editing intents
without going through manually tedious retouching. In the recent advance of
machine learning, artists' editing intents can even be driven by text, using a
variety of well-trained neural networks. They have seen to be receiving an
extensive success on such as generating photorealistic images, artworks and
human poses, stylizing meshes from text, or auto-completion given image and
shape priors. In this short survey, we provide an overview over 50 papers on
state-of-the-art (text-guided) image-and-shape generation techniques. We start
with an overview on recent editing algorithms in the introduction. Then, we
provide a comprehensive review on text-guided editing techniques for 2D and 3D
independently, where each of its sub-section begins with a brief background
introduction. We also contextualize editing algorithms under recent implicit
neural representations. Finally, we conclude the survey with the discussion
over existing methods and potential research ideas.Comment: 10 page

Parallel Evolutionary Algorithms for Energy Aware Scheduling
International audienceReducing energy consumption is an increasingly important issue in computing and embedded systems. In computing systems, minimizing energy consumption can significantly reduces the amount of energy bills. The demand for computing systems steadily increases and the cost of energy continues to rise. In embedded systems, reducing the use of energy allows to extend the autonomy of these systems. In addition, the reduction of energy decreases greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, many researches are carried out to develop new methods in order to consume less energy. This chapter gives an overview of the main methods used to reduce the energy consumption in computing and embedded systems. As a use case and to give an example of a method, the chapter describes our new parallel bi-objective hybrid genetic algorithm that takes into account the completion time and the energy consumption. In terms of energy consumption, the obtained results show that our approach outperforms previous scheduling methods by a significant margin. In terms of completion time, the obtained schedules are also shorter than those of other algorithms
