    Network Attacks Detection by Hierarchical Neural Network

    Intrusion detection is an emerging area of research in the computer security and net-works with the growing usage of internet in everyday life. Most intrusion detection systems (IDSs) mostly use a single classifier algorithm to classify the network traffic data as normal behavior or anomalous. However, these single classifier systems fail to provide the best possible attack detection rate with low false alarm rate. In this paper,we propose to use a hybrid intelligent approach using a combination of classifiers in order to make the decision intelligently, so that the overall performance of the resul-tant model is enhanced. The general procedure in this is to follow the supervised or un-supervised data filtering with classifier or cluster first on the whole training dataset and then the output are applied to another classifier to classify the data. In this re- search, we applied Neural Network with Supervised and Unsupervised Learning in order to implement the intrusion detection system. Moreover, in this project, we used the method of Parallelization with real time application of the system processors to detect the systems intrusions.Using this method enhanced the speed of the intrusion detection. In order to train and test the neural network, NSLKDD database was used. Creating some different intrusion detection systems, each of which considered as a single agent, we precisely proceeded with the signature-based intrusion detection of the network.In the proposed design, the attacks have been classified into 4 groups and each group is detected by an Agent equipped with intrusion detection system (IDS).These agents act independently and report the intrusion or non-intrusion in the system; the results achieved by the agents will be studied in the Final Analyst and at last the analyst reports that whether there has been an intrusion in the system or not.     Security for a multi-agent cyber-physical conveyor system using machine learning

    One main foundation of Industry 4.0 is the connectivity of devices and systems using Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, where Cyber-physical systems (CPS) act as the backbone infrastructure based on distributed and decentralized structures. This approach provides significant benefits, namely improved performance, responsiveness and reconfigurability, but also brings some problems in terms of security, as the devices and systems become vulnerable to cyberattacks. This paper describes the implementation of several mechanisms to increase the security in a self-organized cyber-physical conveyor system, based on multi-agent systems (MAS) and build up with different individual modular and intelligent conveyor modules.     Multi-agent systems are currently applied to solve complex problems. The security of networks is an eloquent example of a complex and difficult problem. A new model-concept Hybrid Sensitive Robot Metaheuristic for Intrusion Detection is introduced in the current paper. The proposed technique could be used with machine learning based intrusion detection techniques. The new model uses the reaction of virtual sensitive robots to different stigmergic variables in order to keep the tracks of the intruders when securing a sensor network.Comment: 5 page

    ANTIDS: Self-Organized Ant-based Clustering Model for Intrusion Detection System

    Security of computers and the networks that connect them is increasingly becoming of great significance. Computer security is defined as the protection of computing systems against threats to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There are two types of intruders: the external intruders who are unauthorized users of the machines they attack, and internal intruders, who have permission to access the system with some restrictions. Due to the fact that it is more and more improbable to a system administrator to recognize and manually intervene to stop an attack, there is an increasing recognition that ID systems should have a lot to earn on following its basic principles on the behavior of complex natural systems, namely in what refers to self-organization, allowing for a real distributed and collective perception of this phenomena. With that aim in mind, the present work presents a self-organized ant colony based intrusion detection system (ANTIDS) to detect intrusions in a network infrastructure.
