    Autonomous real-time surveillance system with distributed IP cameras

    An autonomous Internet Protocol (IP) camera based object tracking and behaviour identification system, capable of running in real-time on an embedded system with limited memory and processing power is presented in this paper. The main contribution of this work is the integration of processor intensive image processing algorithms on an embedded platform capable of running at real-time for monitoring the behaviour of pedestrians. The Algorithm Based Object Recognition and Tracking (ABORAT) system architecture presented here was developed on an Intel PXA270-based development board clocked at 520 MHz. The platform was connected to a commercial stationary IP-based camera in a remote monitoring station for intelligent image processing. The system is capable of detecting moving objects and their shadows in a complex environment with varying lighting intensity and moving foliage. Objects moving close to each other are also detected to extract their trajectories which are then fed into an unsupervised neural network for autonomous classification. The novel intelligent video system presented is also capable of performing simple analytic functions such as tracking and generating alerts when objects enter/leave regions or cross tripwires superimposed on live video by the operator

    Video analytics system for surveillance videos

    Developing an intelligent inspection system that can enhance the public safety is challenging. An efficient video analytics system can help monitor unusual events and mitigate possible damage or loss. This thesis aims to analyze surveillance video data, report abnormal activities and retrieve corresponding video clips. The surveillance video dataset used in this thesis is derived from ALERT Dataset, a collection of surveillance videos at airport security checkpoints. The video analytics system in this thesis can be thought as a pipelined process. The system takes the surveillance video as input, and passes it through a series of processing such as object detection, multi-object tracking, person-bin association and re-identification. In the end, we can obtain trajectories of passengers and baggage in the surveillance videos. Abnormal events like taking away other's belongings will be detected and trigger the alarm automatically. The system could also retrieve the corresponding video clips based on user-defined query

    Deep learning-based anomalous object detection system powered by microcontroller for PTZ cameras

    Automatic video surveillance systems are usually designed to detect anomalous objects being present in a scene or behaving dangerously. In order to perform adequately, they must incorporate models able to achieve accurate pattern recognition in an image, and deep learning neural networks excel at this task. However, exhaustive scan of the full image results in multiple image blocks or windows to analyze, which could make the time performance of the system very poor when implemented on low cost devices. This paper presents a system which attempts to detect abnormal moving objects within an area covered by a PTZ camera while it is panning. The decision about the block of the image to analyze is based on a mixture distribution composed of two components: a uniform probability distribution, which represents a blind random selection, and a mixture of Gaussian probability distributions. Gaussian distributions represent windows in the image where anomalous objects were detected previously and contribute to generate the next window to analyze close to those windows of interest. The system is implemented on a Raspberry Pi microcontroller-based board, which enables the design and implementation of a low-cost monitoring system that is able to perform image processing.Universidad de MĂĄlaga.
