DISASTER RESPONSE MODELING BASE ON LANDSLIDE EARLY WARNING USING CASE MANAGEMENT MODEL AND NOTATION

    Get PDF
There are a few handling steps in the emergency response to landslides that need thorough explanation. The flexibility of emergency response situations is ineffectively supported by traditional modeling methodologies because they are excessively inflexible. Companies have traditionally modeled their business processes using the Business Process Management Approach and Notation (BPMN) model. For design case management, such as the emergency reaction to a landslide disaster, BPMN modeling is unsuitable. because the BPMN modeling focuses how business processes flow inside a company. The Case Management Model and Notation (CMMN), the newest modeling approach from the Object Management Group (OMG), was launched in 2013 with the purpose of completing the BPMN modeling approach. The unstructured and adaptable CMMN claims to be able to handle urgent situations. This study's intention is to develop a CMMN model of a landslide emergency reaction scenario based on an emergency alert from an Early Warning System (EWS) sensor. In order to acquire the qualitative data for this study, the researcher first conducted a literature review. Then used the interview and observation methods to gather data, and from this data, we created the model using the CMMN modeling approach. The Yogyakarta Special Region Disaster Management Agency's (BPBD DIY) data flow of a disaster management information system, which was already operational, was analyzed by researchers. Then, the researchers used CMMN to model the data in order to find out opportunities to improve the disaster management information system already in use at BPBD DIY. Two CMMN models—the BPBD DIY disaster management information system model and the recommendation model for system improvements—were created in this study. The analysis of the current disaster management information system model resulted in the recomendation of this model. A prototype of feature recommendation is created as part of this research and given to specialists in natural disasters for model validation

This research aims to analyze and design an administrative data management information system in LKP3I, which currently manages it is still manual, namely using Ms. Excel office tools, so it often experiences problems such as accumulation of documents, difficulty finding data, and scattered data of course participants. The application development process using the waterfall model includes collecting data and information, at the analysis stage using the elicitation approach technique which is represented by system modeling, namely flow maps, context diagrams, and data flow diagrams. Construction of web-based application systems using the programming languages VB.Net and Ms. Access as database management system, testing and evaluating the feasibility of the system using the BlackBox and group discussions. Based on the results of the research and system evaluation conducted, the prototype of the LKP3I administrative data management system that was built through the elicitation approach received a fairly good assessment, which proves that the hypothesis in this study has been tested. Respondents can receive the results of the information system prototype that will be implemented with the provision of improved specifications and functions of user requirements

IOT-enabled Quality Management Process Innovation and Analytics in China’s Dairy Industry: A Data Flow Modeling Perspective

    Get PDF
Since the melamine incident was reported in China, China’s dairy industry attracts more and more attention, leading some scholars to conduct research on quality management and safety monitoring issues of China’s dairy industry. The technology of the Internet of Things (IOT) is viewed as one of the best ways to solve the safety problems of China’s dairy industry by supporting the development of dairy traceability systems. This paper firstly analyses the current situation of China’s dairy industry supply chain to get at the root of the problem. We then propose an IOT-enabled quality management framework which is an innovation mode of quality management in China’s dairy industry supply chain. To further highlight the important role of IOT technology, we employ a business process modeling approach based on data flow perspective to describe this innovation management mode. The artifacts we design, especially the matrix of dairy products and process information, can help the practitioners to efficiently monitor the quality information of dairy products

Ecosystem-Based Fishery Management: A Critical Review of Concepts and Ecological Economic Models

    Get PDF
An ecosystem approach means different things to different people. As a result the concept of ecosystem-based fishery management is evolving and it has no universal definition or consistent application. As regards ecosystem modeling, most economic models of fishery ignore the linkages to lower trophic levels. In particular, environmental data and other bottom-up information is widely disregarded. The objective of this paper is to provide a critical review of concepts and ecological economic models relating to ecosystem-based fishery management especially to the environmental issues. The paper started by reviewing basic concepts related to ecosystem-based fishery management and the economic value of ecosystems. Then it aimed to review the development of ecosystem modeling with emphasis on economic aspects of ecology. This was followed by a presentation of the applications of ecosystem-based fishery management in practice. The paper concluded with some critical discussions and brought together conclusions derived from previous literature reviews. We found that although the concept of ecosystem-based fishery management has no universal definition, there is a widespread agreement about the need to implement the ecosystem approach for fisheries in practice. We also revealed that nutrient flow plays a crucial role in an ecosystem. In addition, it has many properties such as recycling and exchanging between consumers and producers, which are similar to monetary flows in an economy. Therefore, nutrients should be chosen as the currency in ecological economic models.Ecosystem approach, fisheries management, ecological economic models

An integrated Methodology for the Study of Spatial Data Infrastructures Use: the Case of Coastal Stakeholders in France

    Get PDF
Nowadays the continuous development of Spatial Data Infrastructures provides a favorable context for environmental management. But in fact, the real contribution of SDIs depends on the answers they provide to their users. To the best of our knowledge, few studies have addressed SDI uses at large. The research presented in this paper introduces a novel methodological approach for the study of SDI uses within the context of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) in France. We develop a two-tier approach that combines a structural and data flow modeling analysis based on Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) applied to an online questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The results reveal a multi-SDIs and multi-levels use which is structured around several key SDIs whose role is particularly significant, but complemented by a series of ‘minor’ SDIs. This use is also based on information flows between SDIs and other entities (e.g. institutional partners, working group) involved in the sharing of the geographical information within the framework of French coastal management

Modeling IS Activities for Business Process Reengineering : A Colored Petri Net Approach

    Get PDF
The day to day functioning of any organization involves many business processes. Each business process is comprised of different activities. The identification of activities and their cost drivers is a critical factor for successful Business Process Reengineering. Since the resources used by the activities form an integral part of the model, the identification of the cost drivers is also simplified. This paper details the following : 1. It proposesthe use of colored Petri nets for process modeling. Brimson(1991) identifies the process modeling approach to activity analysis as useful since it graphically links the inputs and outputs among activities and identifies the information flow in the processes. However, use of process flow charts, which is most commonly used in activity analysis cannot capture some of the aspects of office processes, like supervision, general management, etc. In addition, representing the complex business logic associated with activities would be difficult in such flow models. The use of colored Petri nets overcomes this limitation, as business logic and various office processes can be easily represented. In addition, the complexity of the system is handled by resorting to hierarchical representation of the processes. 2. The paper applies the concept of activity based costing to the management of the IS processes in firms. The cost structure of these processes, to our knowledge, has not been studied from the activity based costing perspective. The article proposes the use of activity based costing for IS processes. Such analysis could help the organization in making operational as well as strategic decisions as related to its IS processe

A Conceptual Framework and Roadmap Approach for Integrating BIM into Lifecycle Project Management

    Get PDF
As a disruptive information and communication technology (ICT) in the architecture, engineering, construction, and operation (AECO) industry, building information modeling (BIM) enables project teams to manage a project via a model-based cooperative approach. Although it has a widespread impact on the industry, the systematic implementation ofBIM in projects faces challenges. This study integrated BIM into the lifecycle of a building project with the introduction of a conceptual framework constituted by BIM Information Flow, BIM Model Chain, BIM Workflow, BIM Institutional Environment, and BIM-based Project Management Information System (PMIS). This con- ceptual framework identifies the key areas for integrating BIM into the project lifecycle and explains how BIM works for project management practice. Through an ethnographic action research approach, the study developed a BIM roadmap for the project lifecycle by systematically implementing BIM in the building project. The major findings and pieces of evidence derived via the implementation support the conceptual framework. The following discussions explain howBIM disrupts the project from the view of organization design and clarify the contributions of this study in project management, as well as BIM adoption and integration. Finally, the conclusions focus on the development of this research, the role of the conceptual framework to underlie the BIM roadmap, and the research limitations.
