    Multi phase system for metal disc induction heating: modelling and RMS current control

    This paper presents a multi phase induction system modelling for a metal disc heating and further industrial applications such as hot strip mill. An original architecture, with three concentric inductors supplied by three resonant current inverters leads to a reduced element system, without any coupling transformers, phase loop, mobile screens or mobile magnetic cores as it could be found in classical solutions. A simulation model is built, based on simplified equivalent models of electric and thermal phenomena. It takes into account data extracted from Flux2DÂź finite element software, concerning the energy transfer between the inductor currents and the piece to be heated. It is implemented in a versatile software PSim, initially dedicated to power electronic. An optimization procedure calculates the optimal supply currents in the inverters in order to obtain a desired power density profile in the work piece. The paper deals with The simulated and experimental results are compared in open-loop and closed loop.     A lightweight electronically commutated dc motor for electric passenger vehicles

    A functional model breadboard converter and a rare-earth-cobalt, permanent magnet motor; as well as an engineering model converter and PM motor suitable for vehicle installations were developed and tested. The converter and motor achieved an 88% peak efficiency, a maximum output of 26 kW at 26,000 rpm, and a continuous rating of 15 kW. The system also generated power to the source during braking, with a demonstrated peak power available at the converter terminals of approximately 26 kW at 88% efficiency. Major conclusions include: (1) the SAE J227a(D) driving cycle efficiency for the converter/motor is 86% to 88% when energy available for recovery at the converter terminals is included; (2) the converter initial cost is approximately five times that of the permanent magnet motor, but can be reduced by means of LSI logic and integrated liquid cooled semiconductor packages; and (3) an electronically commutated motor with a liquid cooled converter will operate reliably without service or maintenance for the life of a passenger vehicle

    Inverter-Based Low-Voltage CCII- Design and Its Filter Application

    This paper presents a negative type second-generation current conveyor (CCII-). It is based on an inverter-based low-voltage error amplifier, and a negative current mirror. The CCII- could be operated in a very low supply voltage such as ±0.5V. The proposed CCII- has wide input voltage range (±0.24V), wide output voltage (±0.24V) and wide output current range (±24mA). The proposed CCII- has no on-chip capacitors, so it can be designed with standard CMOS digital processes. Moreover, the architecture of the proposed circuit without cascoded MOSFET transistors is easily designed and suitable for low-voltage operation. The proposed CCII- has been fabricated in TSMC 0.18Όm CMOS processes and it occupies 1189.91 x 1178.43Όm2 (include PADs). It can also be validated by low voltage CCII filters

    Improving skills in rounding off the whole number

    This study was conducted to address teaching and learning skills in rounding off a whole number. This study consisted of 15 years 4 students from the Kong Nan Chinese Primary School, Parit Raja, Johor, Malaysia. Initial survey to identify this problem was carried out by analyzing the exercise books and exercises in pre-test. Based on these analyses, a large number of students were not proficient in relevant skills. A ‘q’ technique was introduced as an approach in teaching and learning to help students master the skills of rounding whole numbers. In summary, this technique helps students to remember the sequence of processes and process in rounding numbers. A total of four sessions of teaching and learning activities that take less than an hour have been implemented specifically to help students to master this technique. Results of the implementation of these activities have shown very positive results among the students. Two post tests were carried out to see the effectiveness of techniques and the results shows that 100% of students were able to answer correctly at least three questions correctly. The t-test analysis was clearly showed the effectiveness of ‘q’ technique. This technique also indirectly helps to maintain and increase student interest in learning Mathematics. This is shown with the active involvement of students in answering questions given by the teacher
