An Extended Kalman Filter for Data-enabled Predictive Control
The literature dealing with data-driven analysis and control problems has
significantly grown in the recent years. Most of the recent literature deals
with linear time-invariant systems in which the uncertainty (if any) is assumed
to be deterministic and bounded; relatively little attention has been devoted
to stochastic linear time-invariant systems. As a first step in this direction,
we propose to equip the recently introduced Data-enabled Predictive Control
algorithm with a data-based Extended Kalman Filter to make use of additional
available input-output data for reducing the effect of noise, without
increasing the computational load of the optimization procedure

Review of Unbiased FIR Filters, Smoothers, and Predictors for Polynomial Signals
Extracting an estimate of a slowly varying signal corrupted by noise is a common task. Examples can be found in industrial, scientific and biomedical instrumentation. Depending on the nature of the application the signal estimate is allowed to be a delayed estimate of the original signal or, in the other extreme, no delay is tolerated. These cases are commonly referred to as filtering, prediction, and smoothing depending on the amount of advance or lag between the input data set and the output data set. In this review paper we provide a comprehensive set of design and analysis tools for designing unbiased FIR filters, predictors, and smoothers for slowly varying signals, i.e. signals that can be modeled by low order polynomials. Explicit expressions of parameters needed in practical implementations are given. Real life examples are provided including cases where the method is extended to signals that are piecewise slowly varying. A critical view on recursive implementations of the algorithms is provided
OCP Based Online Multisensor Data Fusion for Autonomous Ground Vehicle
In this paper, online multisensor data fusion algorithm using CORBA event channel is proposed, in order to deal with simplifying problem in sensor registration and fusion for vehicleās state estimation. The networked based navigation concept for Autonomous Ground Vehicle (AGV) using several sensors is presented. A simulation of various application scenarios are considered by choosing several parameters of UKF, i.e. weighting constant for sigma points and square root matrix. Normalized mean-square error (MSE) of Monte Carlo simulations are computed and reported in the simulation results. Furthermore, the middleware infrastructure based on Open Control Platform (OCP) to support the interconnection between the whole filter structures also reported
FlightGoggles: A Modular Framework for Photorealistic Camera, Exteroceptive Sensor, and Dynamics Simulation
FlightGoggles is a photorealistic sensor simulator for perception-driven
robotic vehicles. The key contributions of FlightGoggles are twofold. First,
FlightGoggles provides photorealistic exteroceptive sensor simulation using
graphics assets generated with photogrammetry. Second, it provides the ability
to combine (i) synthetic exteroceptive measurements generated in silico in real
time and (ii) vehicle dynamics and proprioceptive measurements generated in
motio by vehicle(s) in a motion-capture facility. FlightGoggles is capable of
simulating a virtual-reality environment around autonomous vehicle(s). While a
vehicle is in flight in the FlightGoggles virtual reality environment,
exteroceptive sensors are rendered synthetically in real time while all complex
extrinsic dynamics are generated organically through the natural interactions
of the vehicle. The FlightGoggles framework allows for researchers to
accelerate development by circumventing the need to estimate complex and
hard-to-model interactions such as aerodynamics, motor mechanics, battery
electrochemistry, and behavior of other agents. The ability to perform
vehicle-in-the-loop experiments with photorealistic exteroceptive sensor
simulation facilitates novel research directions involving, e.g., fast and
agile autonomous flight in obstacle-rich environments, safe human interaction,
and flexible sensor selection. FlightGoggles has been utilized as the main test
for selecting nine teams that will advance in the AlphaPilot autonomous drone
racing challenge. We survey approaches and results from the top AlphaPilot

High-order volterra model predictive control and its application to a nonlinear polymerisation process
Model Predictive Control (MPC) has recently found wide acceptance in the process industry, but the existing design and implementation methods are restricted to linear process models. A chemical process involves, however, severe nonlinearity which cannot be ignored in practice. This paper aims to solve this nonlinear control problem by extending MPC to nonlinear models. It develops an analytical framework for nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC), and also offers a third-order Volterra series based nonparametric nonlinear modelling technique for NMPC design which relieves practising engineers from the need for first deriving a physical-principles based model. An on-line realisation technique for implementing the NMPC is also developed. The NMPC is then applied to a Mitsubishi Chemicals polymerisation reaction process. The results show that this nonlinear MPC technique is feasible and very effective. It considerably outperforms linear and low-order Volterra model based methods. The advantages of the approach developed lie not only in control performance superior to existing NMPC methods, but also in relieving practising engineers from the need for deriving an analytical model and then converting it to a Volterra model through which the model can only be obtained up to the second order
