Centralized Database System For Automated Hearing Screening

    Get PDF
Centralized database software enables simultaneous updates from multiple queries containing data from different machines. It enables the data to be stored safely in a centralized location. Based on the related research work on PC based Automated Hearing Screening kit which store the test results in local storage, it may have problem to perform the data collection from different location of test centers. The main objective of this project is to extend the capabilities of the kit into centralized database architecture for easy access of the test results from multiple test centers locations. The proposed methods used in this project involved database structure design through user requirements analysis, defining data type for each entities and modeling the database using entity relationship diagram (ERD). Web application interface has been proposed in this project as a method to extract the test results from the database. The PC based Automated Hearing Screening kit also has been redesigned in term of user interface and the functionality to submit the data to the centralized database has been added. As part of the project results, the SQL injection test has been performed on web application interface and the web application successfully passed the test by sanitizing user input in the web application. An End User test has been conducted at Audiology & Speech Sciences Clinic, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with 9 participants involved. All participants passed the hearing screening test for the left and right ear except for 1 participant unable to conduct right ear test due to the detected ambient noise level in the test room beyond the permissible level. As the conclusion the objective of this project has been fulfilled and the capabilities of original PC based Automated Hearing Screening kit has been successfully extended based on the results presented in this report

A Dissertation for the partial fulfillment of M.S. (Software Systems) Degree from BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE, PILANI (RAJASTHAN); 2001.The project aims to provide access through web to a bibliographic database called IndMED. The database is a product of Indian Medlars Centre (IMC, a division of National Informatics Centre) and has data relating to references to articles published in India’s learned biomedical journals. The scope of this project is limited to providing a web-based user interface for database searching and developing the CGI for Web-Database Connectivity. The project was planned to ensure its scheduled completion. A survey of relevant research and technologies pertaining to Web Interface, Web-Database Connectivity and DBMS have been made and briefly described in the dissertation. Interview, Questionnaire and Observation of similar systems were utilized to determine the requirements of the proposed system. Specification of the proposed system was then based on the requirements. After the requirements and the specification of the proposed system was finalized an Analysis Model consisting of Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) and Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD) was developed. Design of the system was then developed for the sub-systems – Web-Interface, Web-database Connectivity and DBMS - so the requirements and specifications are met. The Web-Interface mainly consists of html pages i.e. Simple Search Form, Minimal Search Form and Advanced Search Form and the dynamically generated by CGI the Search Result Screen. The Web-Database Connectivity sub-system consists of PERL Scripts dealing with Processing of data submitted from html forms, Variables assignment, Error Trap, Formulation of query string which can passed on to the DBMS sub-system and Html Patching of the output of the database in response to the query. The implementation of the system includes: the screens along with html code written for various search forms and generated by the CGI for the Web-Interface, Perl Scripts (IMSS.PL; IMAS.PL; IMRS.PL) for the CGI and the Database Structure, Fields included in Inverted File Index of the Database and Display Formats for the DBMS sub-system. The system thus developed was tested to meet the tests prescribed by the system specification. The final product has been integrated into the Home-page of IMC at the URL http://indmed.nic.in . A user help document for searching is also included. The system developed has scope for future research and refinement in regard to relevancy ranking, federated searching, links to full text articles and other material relevant to the user query available on the Internet along with the results from IndMED

This study aims to observe, understand, design and build an information system for reporting drug abuse in the city of Kediri. This study uses the Waterfall method. The research subject is a system that can report drug abuse itself. The theoretical basis of the research used by the author uses Geographic Information Systems. GIS is a computer-based system that aims to store, manipulate, and analyze geographic information. In this research the author uses the Java programming language and the MYSQL database system as user data storage. Username using the primary key Employee Identification Number (NIP). For location mapping that has been carried out by the RPE Action, users who have created an account will be able to access the camera on a smartphone. Later the photos taken by the user will show the location of Latitude and Longitude. The research modeling uses DFD (Data Flow Diagram) modeling which contains DFD level 0 and level 1, ERD (Entity Realionship Diagram) and Flowchart. This study contains interface design, login interface design, main menu design, abuse reporting menu design, service menu design, socialization request menu design, rehabilitation request menu design, P4GN menu design, counseling request menu design, user menu design, mentoring menu design abuse, abuse report table design, edit profile menu design. Interface design is an important part of the application, because the first thing you see running is the application interfac

Leachate treatment by conventional coagulation, electrocoagulation and two-stage coagulation (conventional coagulation and electrocoagulation)

Leachate is widely explored and investigated due to highly polluted and difficult to treat. Leachate treatment commonly involves advanced, complicated and high cost activities. Conventional coagulation is widely used in the treatment of wastewater but the sludge production becomes the biggest constraint in this treatment. Electrocoagulation is an alternative to conventional method because it has the same application but produce less sludge and requires simple equipment. Thus, combination of conventional coagulation and electrocoagulation can improve the efficiency of coagulation process in leachate treatment. This article is focusing on the efficiency of single and combined treatment as well as the improvement made by combined treatment. Based on review, the percentage reduction of current density and dose of coagulant was perceptible. As much 50% reduction of current density, duration of treatment, and dose of coagulant able to be obtained by using combined treatment. This combined treatment is able to reduce the cost and at the same time reduce the duration of treatment. Hence, the combined treatment offers an alternative technique for landfill leachate treatment on the removal of pollutants

A software toolkit for web-based virtual environments based on a shared database

We propose a software toolkit for developing complex web-based user interfaces, incorporating such things as multi-user facilities, virtual environments (VEs), and interface agents. The toolkit is based on a novel software architecture that combines ideas from multi-agent platforms and user interface (UI) architectures. It provides a distributed shared database with publish-subscribe facilities. This enables UI components to observe the state and activities of any other components in the system easily. The system runs in a web-based environment. The toolkit is comprised of several programming and other specification languages, providing a complete suite of systems design languages. We illustrate the toolkit by means of a couple of examples
