    User acceptance of open enterprise solution: the OSS-ERP case

    Organizations implement Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with the objective of reaching operational efficiency and the incorporation to new markets through the information flow control on time of the entire organization. However, ERP systems are complex tools, mainly for the small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). For these reason, new ERP configurations have arisen for SMEs such as Open Source Software-ERP (OSS-ERP). OSS-ERP is a research topic barely analyzed by the literature. Specifically, this paper’s aim is to focus on the OSS-ERP users’ acceptance and use. The authors have developed a research model based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for testing the users’ behavior toward OSS-ERP.Las organizaciones implantan Sistemas Integrados de Gestión (ERP, acrónimo de Enterprise Resource Planning) con el objetivo de alcanzar eficiencias operativas y la incorporación a nuevos mercados mediante un mayor control del flujo de información de toda la empresa a tiempo real. Sin embargo, los sistemas ERP son herramientas complejas, principalmente la pequeña y mediana empresa (PYME). Por esta razón, están surgiendo nuevas configuraciones de sistemas ERP para PYME como los sistemas ERP de código abierto (OSS-ERP).     A framework for the successful implementation of food traceability systems in China

    Implementation of food traceability systems in China faces many challenges due to the scale, diversity and complexity of China’s food supply chains. This study aims to identify critical success factors specific to the implementation of traceability systems in China. Twenty-seven critical success factors were identified in the literature. Interviews with managers at four food enterprises in a pre-study helped identify success criteria and five additional critical success factors. These critical success factors were tested through a survey of managers in eighty-three food companies. This study identifies six dimensions for critical success factors: laws, regulations and standards; government support; consumer knowledge and support; effective management and communication; top management and vendor support; and information and system quality

    ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks: a literature review

    Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation is a complex and vibrant process, one that involves a combination of technological and organizational interactions. Often an ERP implementation project is the single largest IT project that an organization has ever launched and requires a mutual fit of system and organization. Also the concept of an ERP implementation supporting business processes across many different departments is not a generic, rigid and uniform concept and depends on variety of factors. As a result, the issues addressing the ERP implementation process have been one of the major concerns in industry. Therefore ERP implementation receives attention from practitioners and scholars and both, business as well as academic literature is abundant and not always very conclusive or coherent. However, research on ERP systems so far has been mainly focused on diffusion, use and impact issues. Less attention has been given to the methods used during the configuration and the implementation of ERP systems, even though they are commonly used in practice, they still remain largely unexplored and undocumented in Information Systems research. So, the academic relevance of this research is the contribution to the existing body of scientific knowledge. An annotated brief literature review is done in order to evaluate the current state of the existing academic literature. The purpose is to present a systematic overview of relevant ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks as a desire for achieving a better taxonomy of ERP implementation methodologies. This paper is useful to researchers who are interested in ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks. Results will serve as an input for a classification of the existing ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks. Also, this paper aims also at the professional ERP community involved in the process of ERP implementation by promoting a better understanding of ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks, its variety and history

    Job security and ERP acceptance by individuals in Saudi Arabia air transportation industry

    Today, internet technologies are considered the most efficient tools assisting companies to grow in the marketplace, enhancing their capability to compete with other competitors and attracting customers to their products and services. It has known that the success or failure of businesses depends on their adoption of the new e-business paradigm successfully. Firms are utilizing the Internet and associated technologies to support their business activities, by internally applying Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) which considered as very expensive, costly and complex and they are investing in this system at an alarming rate, even though there are high rates of ERP adoption failure among organizations worldwide. Very few studies have been conducted regarding technology acceptance of ERP systems at individual level (end users). Therefore, this study aims to examine Job Security (JS) as a Critical Successful Factor (CSF) that affects the individuals’ acceptance of the ERP system in the Saudi Arabia Air-transportation Industry, by studying the impact of JS as factor on individual's behavioral intention to use (BIU) the adopted ERP system, and consequently, assist in avoiding adoption failure, eventually leading to firms fully realizing the advantages of ERP solutions. In this study, TAM theory is considered the most influential theory among the technology acceptance theories, and it is fundamental to understand that there is a comprehensive relationship between TAM and JS as CSF. Comprehensive data analysis was conducted, including Structure Equation Modeling (SEM), to verify the research outcome. The finding from this study has validated JS as CSF of ERP implementation; Based on the research finding, a reliable model (JS-TAM) was constructed, which explains how JS has influenced the end users' acceptance or “Behavioral Intention to Use” of ERP system. A comprehensive explanation of employee’s behavioral intention to use of ERP system was obtained by testing the moderators’ effect on the research model. Ultimately, it is assumed that this study will help researchers and organizations to construct a better comprehensive model that prevent of ERP system implementation failure

    CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS FOR ERP IMPLEMENTATION - THE CASE OF QATAR

    Due to ERP high failure rate, Enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation issues have been highly addressed in the literatures. Some studies have concentrated on the effect of perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU) on behavioral intention (BI) based upon the theory of technology acceptance model (TAM), others focused on the critical success factors (CSF) of ERP implementation from personal or organizational perspectives. However, few studies put them together to examine the influence of PU and PEOU on BI which are key factors to ERP acceptance besides investigating the most important critical success factors of ERP implementation. This study is a specific attempt that developed a framework extending TAM model with computer self-efficacy (CSE) to examine behavioral intention to use ERP and then explored the major ERP key success factors that can turn the process of the implementation to a success in Qatari environment. Data has been collected from 40 different organizations of different business lines in Qatar out of which 321 valid responses were analyzed. Descriptive, Reliability, and correlations analyses were conducted on the sample respectively, then followed by Linear Regression Analysis that was done to validate the model’s significance. PU, PEOU and CSE, indicated significant relations with the behavioural intention to use ERP systems in Qatari organizations and contributed to 56% of its variation. Then a Descriptive Analysis was conducted to rank the CSFs in order of significance from ERP end user perspective. The study concluded that PU, PEOU and CSE are significant factors to predict ERP implementation and adoption. Moreover, it explored the major critical success factors that brings success to implementation process in Qatari organizations, which are Top management support, followed by User training on software, and finally Project management process

    The impact of implementation process on the perception of enterprise resource planning success

    Purpose \u2013 The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of the implementation process on the ERP\u2019s success in the post-adoption stage, measured as system\u2019s acceptance, reliability and utility perceived by users, inside the organizations. Design/methodology/approach \u2013 The authors adopted a multiple case study research design. The data collected, provided by IT managers and 120 key-users from four companies, has been used to investigate the impact of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation phases on selected constructs of the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The empirical evidences highlight a direct relation between the effectiveness of the implementation phases and the ERP\u2019s success. Findings \u2013 The research results emphasize the importance of the quality of the software, but especially the importance of the implementation phases\u2019 management, which require technical and managerial ability of the team made up of people from the system integrator and the company\u2019s key-users. Evidences suggest that the higher will be the organizational diffusion of an ERP implemented during a successful implementation project, the higher will be the perception of ERP success in the post-adoption stage. Moreover, the users\u2019 perception of ERP quality will be maintained over time. Research limitations/implications \u2013 The research has some limits due to its exploratory nature and to the chosen research approach, so the results may lack generalizability; consequently future research will concern with enlargement of the sample that will allow a better generalization of the results. Practical implications \u2013 This exploratory study suggest that companies\u2019 managers should be aware that a correct methodology of implementation, strongly influenced by the team, impacts on the technology consistency and therefore, on the ERP system success. So an appropriate choice is to invest more in the creation and development of internal and external project team than in the ERP\u2019s brand. Originality/value \u2013 This paper fulfils an identified need to clarify the explicit relationship between the quality of implementation phases and the subsequent ERP success in the post-adoption stage measured in terms of users\u2019 perception of information system qualit

Second, we expose and examine three groups of external factors which influence ERP usage. The model was empirically tested using data collected from a survey of ERP users in 44 organizations. Survey data have been collected from ERP users who have been exposed to an ERP system which has operated for more than one year. The proposed research model was analyzed using the PLS approach

    The influence of technology, environment and user acceptance on the effectiveness of information system project selection using SEM

    The selection of the present information system project is difficult because of the many factors that influence it. Information system project should pay attention to the user acceptance, technology and the environment in terms of their influence on the information system project selection.The purpose of this paper is to determine how much influence user acceptance, technology and the environment have on the information system project selection.This research uses data obtained from several ministries and analyzed using SEM (Structural Equation Models).The results found that the technology and the environment affects user acceptance. Moreover, technology and environment affect the effectiveness of the information systems project selection through the mediating effect of user acceptance. User acceptance, tested by the incorporation of usefulness and ease of use, the results are more modest and in line with previous theories. Furthermore, the external environment highly impacts the information system project selection
