Efficient Resource Management Mechanism for 802.16 Wireless Networks Based on Weighted Fair Queuing
Wireless Networking continues on its path of being one of the most commonly used means of communication. The evolution of this technology has taken place through the design of various protocols. Some common wireless protocols are the WLAN, 802.16 or WiMAX, and the emerging 802.20, which specializes in high speed vehicular networks, taking the concept from 802.16 to higher levels of performance. As with any large network, congestion becomes an important issue. Congestion gains importance as more hosts join a wireless network. In most cases, congestion is caused by the lack of an efficient mechanism to deal with exponential increases in host devices. This can effectively lead to very huge bottlenecks in the network causing slow sluggish performance, which may eventually reduce the speed of the network. With continuous advancement being the trend in this technology, the proposal of an efficient scheme for wireless resource allocation is an important solution to the problem of congestion. The primary area of focus will be the emerging standard for wireless networks, the 802.16 or “WiMAX”. Lock-free Concurrent Data Structures
Concurrent data structures are the data sharing side of parallel programming.
Data structures give the means to the program to store data, but also provide
operations to the program to access and manipulate these data. These operations
are implemented through algorithms that have to be efficient. In the sequential
setting, data structures are crucially important for the performance of the
respective computation. In the parallel programming setting, their importance
becomes more crucial because of the increased use of data and resource sharing
for utilizing parallelism.
The first and main goal of this chapter is to provide a sufficient background
and intuition to help the interested reader to navigate in the complex research
area of lock-free data structures. The second goal is to offer the programmer

Enabling Confidentiality in Content-Based Publish/Subscribe Infrastructures
Content-Based Publish/Subscribe (CBPS) is an interaction model where the interests of subscribers are stored in a content-based forwarding infrastructure to guide routing of notifications to interested parties. In this paper, we focus on answering the following question: Can we implement content-based publish/subscribe while keeping subscriptions and notifications confidential from the forwarding brokers? Our contributions include a systematic analysis of the problem, providing a formal security model and showing that the maximum level of attainable security in this setting is restricted. We focus on enabling provable confidentiality for commonly used applications and subscription languages in CBPS and present a series of practical provably secure protocols, some of which are novel and others adapted from existing work. We have implemented these protocols in SIENA, a popular CBPS system. Evaluation results show that confidential content-based publish/subscribe is practical: A single broker serving 1000 subscribers is able to route more than 100 notifications per second with our solutions
Integrating Datalog and Constraint Solving
LP is a common formalism for the field of databases and CSP, both at the
theoretical level and the implementation level in the form of Datalog and CLP.
In the past, close correspondences have been made between both fields at the
theoretical level. Yet correspondence at the implementation level has been much
less explored. In this article we work towards relating them at the
implementation level. Concretely, we show how to derive the efficient Leapfrog
