Diversity of Stored Grain Pests and Alternative Methods for their Control in Tropics. The major cause of important post-harvest losses in northern Cameroon is due to the attacks of insects pests. These beetles (Insecta: Coleoptera) during their development depreciate food in storage, they are able to destroy a whole stock in a very short period of time. To protect stored products against these insects, synthetic insecticides and many other biological or physical methods are used, very important amount of work had been carried out on this subject. This review summarises the importance and the diversification of stored grain pests in Cameroon and presents current methods. Hence, the review highlights the use of the essential oils from spices as an important user and consumer friendly method to protect grain in storage

Karyotype studies on grape phylloxera (Daktulosphaira vitifoliae FITCH)

A cytogenetic technique was developed to produce suitable chromosome spreads for phylloxera karyotype analysis. The karyotype for pathogenetic phylloxera was 2 n = 10. Karyotypes from haploid sex cells were found to vary between n = 5 and n = 6, the latter possibly indicating an aneuploidic aberration. Tetra- and polyploid cells were detected in somatic trophocytes. Preparation of phylloxera sex and somatic cells for chromosomal analysis reported here enables the study of genetic variation on a chromosomal scale

De Louis Delluc à Caligari...: L'introduction du cinéma allemand en France

Diese Ablehnung des deutschen Films beschäftigt und beunruhigt Louis Delluc, der daraufhin zwei Artikel über die Situation des deutschen Films veröffentlicht. Seine Artikel zeigen einen ersten Stand der Dinge auf, der aber in Anbetracht fehlender deutscher Filmvorführungen keine weitere Beachtung findet. Erst im Jahr 1921 wird mit der Revue Cinéa, deren Gründer Delluc ist, eine erste Aufführung des Kabinett des Dr. Caligari organisiert. Dieses Ereignis nimmt schnell nationale Dimensionen an. Der internationale Erfolg dieses Films zeigt auf, dass ein Gleichgewicht zwischen globalisierter Industrie und nationaler Spezifität möglich ist. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an fungiert das deutsche Kino als Vorbild für die Suche nach einer solchen Synergie im französischen Kino. Dessen strukturelle Krise zeugt von seiner Unfähigkeit, sich an die neuen Anforderungen der globalisierenden Märkte anzupassen. Selbst wenn Delluc es schafft, deutsche Produktionen in Frankreich durchzusetzen, kann er dennoch nicht den Übergang vom anarchischen Handwerk hin zur rationalisierten Filmindustrie durchsetzen. Vielmehr kommt eine andere Synergie zutage, die den nationalen Rahmen sprengt und sich in den gesamteuropäischen Raum einschreibt und somit den Weg für den technischen und kulturellen Austausch zwischen Deutschland und Frankreich ebnet.Dès 1919, le boycott du cinéma allemand interdit toute confrontation avec les réalisations de l'ennemi héréditaire. Ces chroniques proposent un premier état des lieux mais, sans film distribué, ces analyses restent lettre morte et ne font que souligner ce manque. Il faut attendre 1921 et la création de la revue Cinéa pour que Delluc organise la première projection du Cabinet du docteur Caligari. Cet événement prend vite une ampleur nationale. Le succès mondial de ce film démontre la possibilité d'un équilibre entre industrie mondialisée et spécificité nationale. Dès lors, le cinéma allemand peut servir de modèle pour la recherche d'une telle unité au sein du cinéma français dont la crise structurelle démontre son incapacité à s'adapter aux nouvelles exigences du marché global. Louis Delluc parvient donc à imposer les productions allemandes en France, mais il ne réussit cependant pas à effectuer la transition entre artisanat anarchique et industrie cinématographique rationalisée. Ainsi, une autre unité voit-elle le jour, dépassant les cadres nationaux pour s'inscrire sur le vaste espace européen ouvrant ainsi la voie à des échanges culturels et techniques franco-allemands
