    Wireless communication technologies like GPRS, UMTS and WLAN, combined with the availability of high-end, affordable mobile devices enable the development of the advanced and innovative mobile services. Devices such as mobile phones and Personal Digital Assistants let the users access a wide range of new offerings whenever and wherever they happen to be. A strategic approach for the quality assurance of these mobile data services should take into account a number of characteristics unique to the mobile paradigm, the increased complexity of emerging handheld devices, the greater sensitivity to security and load related problems in wireless infrastructure and increased complexities of scale. This paper identifies the major factors influencing the development and testing strategies for these applications and accordingly elaborates effective quality assurance principles to ensure productive and scalable mobile data services

    Students have a variety of academic tasks in their study, such as scientific research. Students require a lot of resources in the execution of his duty as a reference. Developments in science and technology is very rapid. Almost everyone has a cell phone. The technology used in mobile phones becomes more advanced. Nowadays mobile phones have emerged and have a variety of operating system that could perform a variety of functions in addition to phone and texting. One of the operating system is the most rapidly growing is Android. Android has an advantage in terms of hardware and software that is open source. So everyone can develop aplication by their own.Based on the above facts the study develops an Android-based application called mobile learning journal as a student reference. Applications can operate online and offline. While online applications are used to locate the journal needed to be downloaded, then can be read offline anytime. The application development through the planning, design, programming, testing. Results of this program is the Android-based applications that can be downloaded and used by anyone. Through testing of various devices stated that Mobiju applications can run properly on all devices

    TEGDroid: Test Case Generation Approach for Android Apps Considering Context and GUI Events

    The advancement in mobile technologies has led to the production of mobile devices (e.g. smartphone) with rich innovative features. This has enabled the development of mobile applications that offer users an advanced and extremely localized context-aware content. The recent dependence of people on mobile applications for various computational needs poses a significant concern on the quality of mobile applications. In order to build a high quality and more reliable applications, there is a need for effective testing techniques to test the applications. Most existing testing technique focuses on GUI events only without sufficient support for context events. This makes it difficult to identify other defects in the changes that can be inclined by context in which an application runs. This paper presents an approach named TEGDroid for generating test case for Android Apps considering both context and GUI Events. The GUI and context events are identified through the static analysis of bytecode, and the analysis of app’s permission from the XML file. An experiment was performed on real world mobile apps to evaluate TEGDroid. Our experimental results show that TEGDroid is effective in identifying context events and had 65%-91% coverage across the eight selected applications. To evaluate the fault detection capability of this approach, mutation testing was performed by introducing mutants to the applications. Results from the mutation analysis shows that 100% of the mutants were killed. This indicates that TEGDroid have the capability to detect faults in mobile apps

    In all dimensions of education and all subjects, Smartphones have turned out to be broadly acknowledged technology. It plays an essential task in advanced online education systems. Because of smart devices� effortlessness and extension property, it is getting to be mandatory for portable applications. This paper analyses the research on Smart Devices (SD) to incorporate visual simulation into e-learning. The researchers created an Augmented Reality (AR) platform for e-learners to expand the coursebook with graphics and virtual multimedia applications. This paper recommends a Mobile e-Learning (MeL) application termed �MeL app. The advanced MeL app methods have been tested using Mann-Whitney �U� Test in the lecture hall using real-time learners. The proposed MeL app planned to create the learning practice easier, focusing on e-learner�s requirements by encouraging e-learners and instructor relationships to maintain communicative development-based e-learning for Technical Higher Education (THE). Software engineering learners assess this proposed framework in THE. Future work in this investigation incorporates new highlights, testing the device in extreme situations, evaluating the instructive perspectives utilizing more significant and increasingly various understudy and beginner inhabitants, and at last, extending the application space

    Cloud Platform for Research Crowdsourcing in Mobile Testing

    Mobile application testing and testing over a cloud are two highly topical fields nowadays. Mobile testing presents specific test activities, including verification of an application against a variety of heterogeneous smartphone models and versions of operating systems (OS), build distribution and test team management, monitoring and user experience analytics of an application in production, etc. Cloud benefits are widely used to support all these activities. This study conducts in-depth analyses of existing cloud services for mobile testing and addresses their weaknesses regarding research purposes and testing needs of the critical and business-critical mobile applications.   During this study, a Cloud Testing of Mobile Systems (CTOMS) framework for effective research crowdsourcing in mobile testing was developed. The framework is presented as a lightweight and easily scalable distributed system that provides a cloud service to run tests on a variety of remote mobile devices. CTOMS provides implementation of two novel functionalities that are demanded by advanced investigations in mobile testing. First, it allows full multidirectional testing, which provides the opportunities to test an application on different devices and/or OS versions, and new device models or OS versions for their compatibility with the most popular applications in the market, or just legacy critical apps, etc. Second, CTOMS demonstrates the effective integration of the appropriate testing techniques for mobile development within such a service. In particular, it provides a user with suggestions about coverage of configurations to test on using combinatorial approaches like a base choice, pair-wise, and t-way. The current CTOMS version supports automated functional testing of Android applications and detection of defects in the user interface (UI). This has a great value because requirements for UI and user experience are high for any modern mobile application.    The fundamental analysis of possible test types and techniques using a system like CTOMS was conducted, and ways of possible enhancements and extensions of functionality for possible research are listed. The first case studies prove the work of implemented novel concepts, their usefulness, and their convenience for experiments in mobile testing. The overall work proves that a study of cloud mobile testing is feasible even with small research resources.  M.S

    Mobile travel services: A three-country study into the impact of local circumstances

    In this paper we explore the difference in acceptance patterns of mobile services that are related to travelling in three countries: Finland, The Netherlands and New Zealand. The objective of this paper is to understand differences in the use of Mobile Travel Services in three countries that differ with regard to national travel patterns. This paper also contributes to the discussion of the relevance of the Technology Acceptance Model for mobile applications by focusing on the importance of context characteristics, such as the degree of mobility of the user, the social situation people are in, and their need for social interaction. Based on surveys in the three countries as executed in 2009, we use structural equation modelling to find differences in patterns. The paper concludes that context factors have an impact on the relation between the core concepts as used in TAM and DOI approach, and that t here is a clear need for closer research in the moderating effect of physical (e.g. mobile and fixed context) and social context, as well as the need for social interaction. Moreover it is clear that country specific characteristics play a role in the acceptance of mobile travel services. As we pointed out in many of our research projects before the acceptance and use of mobile services requires deep understanding from individual, context and technology related characteristics and their mutual interactions

    Overcoming Language Dichotomies: Toward Effective Program Comprehension for Mobile App Development

    Mobile devices and platforms have become an established target for modern software developers due to performant hardware and a large and growing user base numbering in the billions. Despite their popularity, the software development process for mobile apps comes with a set of unique, domain-specific challenges rooted in program comprehension. Many of these challenges stem from developer difficulties in reasoning about different representations of a program, a phenomenon we define as a "language dichotomy". In this paper, we reflect upon the various language dichotomies that contribute to open problems in program comprehension and development for mobile apps.     Web Service Testing and Usability for Mobile Learning

    Based on the summary of recent renowned publications, Mobile Learning (ML) has become an emerging technology, as well as a new technique that can enhance the quality of learning. Due to the increasing importance of ML, the investigation of such impacts on the e-Science community is amongst the hot topics, which also relate to part of these research areas: Grid Infrastructure, Wireless Communication, Virtual Research Organization and Semantic Web. The above examples contribute to the demonstrations of how Mobile Learning can be applied into e-Science applications, including usability. However, there are few papers addressing testing and quality engineering issues – the core component for software engineering. Therefore, the major purpose of this paper is to present how Web Service Testing for Mobile Learning can be carried out, in addition to re-investigating the influences of the usability issue with both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Out of many mobile technologies available, the Pocket PC and Tablet PC have been chosen as the equipment; and the OMII Web Service, the 64-bit .NET e-portal and the GPS-PDA are the software tools to be used for Web Service testing

    Mobile travel services: the effect of moderating context factors

    This article has two objectives: (1) to draw an international comparison regarding the acceptance of mobile travel services in three countries with different profiles when it comes to travelling and mobile telecommunications, and (2) to extend relevant literature on mobile applications, more specifically travel services, by including context-related concepts, taking moderating factors like location, mobility of users, physical, and social context into account. Based on surveys that were carried out in 2009, structural equation modelling is used to identify differences in patterns in the use of mobile travel services and in the role of context-related variables. the conclusion of this article is that context-related factors, that is, mobility and (physical and social) context, have an impact on the relationship between the core concepts of technology Acceptance model (TAM) and Diffusion of Innovation (DoI) research. many studies on the acceptance and use of mobile services indicate that a deep understanding is needed of individual, context-related, and technological characteristics and the way they interact. this is also highly relevant to the travel industry, which wants to utilize the opportunities provided by mobile technology
